NPVR is not starting the Tuner when connected via web
Posted by: Baseman - 2014-03-17, 05:55 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Hello guys,
I have really a strange problem. I want to run a mediaserver with NextPVR. I installed the programm on the server under Windows 7 and made configurations. Then I installed XBMC on the client including the NextPVR addon on a second computer (Vista). As a first test I tried to establish a LAN connection. I configure the Windows Firewall. I enter the LAN IP in the addon of the client. Everything works fine. LiveTV works in XBMC. Then i tried to connect the client via Internet. I get a DynDNS for my router IP and enter this in the Addon (I also tried the IP of the router). I configure Portforwarding in the Router for port 8866. I checked allow Remote control in NextPVR settings (otherwise nothing works...no connection to the server). Entered a Username and Password for Web Login. When i try to connect to the server via XBMC addon client nothing happens. After a long time of waiting there was a message "Tuner is not longer connected", althoug all EPG data was loaded before and I can decide a channel. Because I saw in many posts that this could be a security settings problem. I switched temporarily the firewall on the router and on both computers, client and server, off, but the behaviour is the same. It seems that the client could not start the tuner via web? I also tried X-NEWA addon for XBMC to get access to LiveTV via web, but it is the same thing. The EPG Data is loaded, but LiveTV could not be started. A last try was to use VLC, to enter a Stream manually, but again no live TV stream, althoug i could see from the VLC logs, that a connection was established. It says NextPVR ist forbidden. I hope anybody has an idea. I sit the whole day to solve this, but no success. If you need any data for analysis, fell free to ask.

Live TV Timeshift, comskip for active recordings and a few more questions
Posted by: dinki - 2014-03-17, 03:50 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (6)

Martin, thank you for the time you have put into XNEWA and the time that you spend supporting it. This past weekend I installed a Linux distro on my GBOX Midnight MX2, using Gotham Beta ,and have been using XNEWA exclusively as my frontend to nPVR. I am using the Chameleon version with path substitutions. I have a few questions.

I would like to be able to timeshift live tv (rewind to previous parts of the video as well as fast forward from rewinding or ff to catch up to current time if the video was paused). At the moment, when I press rewind, I see the OSD say that it's rewinding but the video continues to move forward with no sound. If I increase the rew multiplier I am able to get back in time a bit, but when I press play the video is paused but I can hear the audio playing. I have similar problems when fast forwarding, but it usually ends up with a frozen picture and no audio. I usually reboot the machine but perhaps it would timeout if I were patient enough to wait. I am using 'Native' as my streaming option. Should I be using something else? I did try Timeshift but it just says 'Please wait - Loading 5%' and hangs. When I go to the nPVR server I get a message saying it can't find VLC. I do have VLC installed on the server but perhaps at a different path.

When playing a recording that is actively being recorded, I can fast forward/rewind just fine. I did notice that I cannot fast forward beyond the time I started watching. For example, I started watching the news (30 minute program) after it had been recording for 15 minutes. I watched portions and fast forwarded through commercials. I was in a commercial break but was not able to fast forward through it beyond the 15 minute mark despite the program being recorded for an additional 10 minutes. I had hoped that I could fast forward all the way to the live part, but I was not able to do this. Am I doing something wrong?

When selecting a program from the Tv Guide, I sometimes stay on the Tv Guide rather than go full screen video. This doesn't happen often, but I'm not sure how I get to the full screen video. I've escaped out all the way to the XBMC gui and the video plays fine, but when I stop I have to launch XNEWA again. Is there an easy keypress to go from Tv Guide to full screen? I read your Newbies post and saw '- returning while video is playing in the EPG will continue" .. I'm not sure what that means or how this is done.

I'd like to make the default action be 'Watch' rather than 'Close' on all the dialog boxes. I haven't looked at the code for XNEWA, but is this just a matter of me editing a python program to reorder the options or is it not easy for me to change?

Not XNEWA specific question. With SageTv, I was able to run comskip parallel to recordings (both live and scheduled) and have those edls available for use even while they were being appended to. Do you know if this is possible with XBMC/XNEWA or is the edl loaded once at the start of playback?

NPVR misses channel move (cablecard tuner)
Posted by: JeffDwork - 2014-03-17, 04:01 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I have a cablecard tuner (HDHomeRun Prime). My cable provider recently moved some channels. The virtual channel numbers did not change, but physical channel and program did. NPVR didn't know this happened and was getting no data, because it programs the tuner with physical channel and program. I had to re-scan to get the changes.

According to SiliconDust:
<http://www.silicondust.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=16338&p=95930&hilit=virtual+channel#p95930>
"The proper way to tune CableCARD channels is by telling the tuner what virtual channel number you want, and letting the tuner figure out how to tune it."

Observed with NPVR 3.1.1 R1a

Thanks,
Jeff

  Http Streaming from NextPVR
Posted by: proline - 2014-03-16, 08:02 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I am currently playing with using Serviio to play a live stream from NextPVR for transcoding live TV from an original HdHomerun Dual ATSC tuner.
ex....http://192.168.0.105:8866/live?channel=27

I need the transcoding for 2 tv's in the house still running old school Xbox's. It works like a champ, but does not seem to support using both tuners at once by way of http streaming. It does seem to work using both tuners if one tuner is using the http stream and the other is being used by the NextPVR window on the PC. Am I missing a setting or is tuner availibility limited to only one tuner using the http streaming method?

  epg returning from 3-8 to 3-22 ?? mc2xml
Posted by: pBS - 2014-03-16, 05:39 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

has anyone else been seeing problems with guide data?
when i attempt updates for last 2 days, i only get 3-8 thru 3-21/22 data, even when i specify alternate time start/endings..
only 7 days of usable epg left, starting to get worried...
using mc2xml for years, tried from other machines...
i reset my mc2xml.dat, no change..
i dl'ed new version of mc2xml...no change..

Code:
Reading ..... : mc2xml.dat Downloading . : microsoft.com Downloaded .. : 3523312 bytes in 2s Source ...... : Zap2it Headend ..... : 28511479 (TX62678X) Version ..... : 2863148274 Start time .. : 2014-03-08T00:00:00 UTC End time .... : 2014-03-22T01:00:00 UTC Parsing ..... : Houston, Comcast (Digital)

or do they just lose their minds around daylight savings time every year from now on?
i don't think i've seen a good DST changeover once....fault always lied with TME, not SD or mc2xml or npvr..
i do see a couple users with problems with schedules direct lately.

hoping it gets solved tomorrow..[they rarely have updates on sundays]

Wake - Sleep Interaction -> Failed Recordings
Posted by: mikeh49 - 2014-03-15, 11:11 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (48)

My system is set to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity.

On Thursday, 3-13, there were 3 programs scheduled to record at nominally 2200 with 2 minutes prepadding. I stopped watching a recording and deleted it at about 2152. It looks like the system did some housekeeping and went to sleep at 2157.38, and did not awake for the scheduled recordings. At 2152, NRecord had set a wakeup request for 2156 for the first program and 2158 for the other two.

On 3-14 when the system woke for EPG update, these recordings were marked as "Recording Service not running at recording time".

Event Viewer shows NRecord handled a power event at 2157.38.

It looks like there was a "race" between sleep and wake that was won by sleep.

Is there anything that should have prevented this, or could something be done? Can NPVR get the sleep time setting so sleep can be prevented if a recording is scheduled close to sleep time? Or, somesuch?

Logs attached.

Just upgraded to 3.1.1 and I'm seeing an odd device in the Show Status. Recording seems to be working though.

  Recordings Order
Posted by: Bobins - 2014-03-15, 10:13 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - No Replies

I've just started experimenting with a Raspberry Pi XBMC (to replace my aging MPVs).

Just wondered if there's any way to change the order of the recording directories on the top level recordings screen. I would prefer them to be alphabetical but they seem to be arranged by date. (Happy with date order within the directories but it's not very easy to find things in date order when on the top level directory list)

Stop video playback when going to stand by?
Posted by: hoborg - 2014-03-14, 07:34 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hi.
Is there a way how to force nPVR to stop video playback when HTPC going to stand by?
My wife often just pause the video playback instead of stoping it, then push stand by button. And when my HTPC resume, there is only black screen.

I need to restart nPVR to make it working again.

NextPVR Web Client home screen problem
Posted by: nitram - 2014-03-14, 06:55 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (4)

I am very pleased to find that X-NEWA gives me a very nice transition from my PCH to OpenELEC running on my NUC 2820FYKH, thanks for your efforts on this. It is so good that I would be happy if XBMC booted straight into X-NEWA's NextPVR Web Client.

NextPVR is version 3.1.1 with patches R1a
NEWA is version 2.10
XBMC is 13.0-Beta1 on both my NUC and my Windows PC (but I had the same problem when it was 12.3)
X-NEWA is version 2.1.5

I have a frequent problem with the NextPVR Web Client home screen (emulate.py), and these symptoms happen when running XBMC with X-NEWA on both my Windows 7 Pro machine and on my NUC running OpenELEC. The Windows 7 machine is also running the NextPVR service.

The first problem I notice after restarting everything is that sometimes, but not always, moving between the NextPVR Web Client home screen options with the arrow keys lags by one key press - i.e. the movement corresponds to one key press before the last. If I select an option like "TV Guide" there is absolutely no problem with arrow key navigation around the guide. But then on returning to the home screen the arrow keys often no longer update the screen and I am locked onto one option (which I can sometimes still access OK with the return key).

I took a look at emulate.py and tried a couple of experiments. When it is in this broken state the URL "http://172.21.0.107:8866/control?time=1394789173&key=39&client=XNEWA0x190e05e156L" sometimes still downloads a jpeg and sometimes not, but the simpler "http://172.21.0.107:8866/control?time=1394789173&key=39" always downloads a small sized jpeg corresponding to a right key press on the home screen.

I can let you have some logs if you need more info.
