  CableCard
Posted by: CodeMonkey - 2013-03-24, 08:10 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

I'm trying to make some sense out of the CableCard DRM stuff. There is some good information in these forums but I'm hoping someone can answer a couple questions.

1) NPvr, I'm given to believe from these forums, works with the hdhomerun prime and the ceton infinitv cards. But only if the content is marked as "copy freely". Is this correct? And if so, is there a way to determine what channels that I currently receive are marked copy freely before I buy one of those cards and a cablecard from my provider?

2) Did NPvr need to license anything from Microsoft for PlayReady or some other DRM to work with these cards?

Thanks!

EPG Update not updating channels with DVB/ATSC EPG
Posted by: SailTV - 2013-03-24, 06:32 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

After installing 2.6.2 I no longer get updates for channels with DVB/ATSC EPG. Only the channels using XMLTV are updated. The status window that opens shows "Checking for any XMLTV listings" then "Running PostUpdateEPG.bat" then closes. In 2.5.9 the status window would show "Checking for any XMLTV listings" then "Checking for DVB/ATSC EPG listings" then close.

Live TV Freezes are still here with the NPVR Client V2.6.2
Posted by: msmith8228 - 2013-03-24, 05:54 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (66)

I am sorry to say but I am still getting live TV freezes on my NextPVR clients with the new version 2.6.2.

I upgraded to v 2.6.2 a few hours ago (on both of my NPVR clients and my server) and so far I have had three live TV freezes -- along with freezes while listening to FM radio. Watching recorded programs is fine -- it seems to be isolated to live TV. The problem happens while watching live analog TV via my Hauppaugue WinTV-HVR-2250 card connected to a Shaw Direct set top box via s-video after about one hour of viewing. The same thing seems to happen while listening to FM radio connected to the same WinTV-HVR-2250 card - a freeze after about 60 min. I will run a test on Digital ATSC OTA later today and report the results.

Attached is a log from one of my client systems where a freeze just occurred.

  Channel change speed
Posted by: sub - 2013-03-24, 04:36 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (11)

Those that have been using XBMC with the NextPVR addon will know that channel changes can be pretty damn slow. This was due to some stream analysis done by XBMC before it begins playback of the stream. Thankfully some of the XBMC developers having working on fixing this, and it looks like it's pretty close to being resolved.

The build that was posted at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7249985/xbmc/xb...margro.exe, gives me channel changes that take about a second on my DVB-S tuner.

You can find discussion about these changes at http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1376233

  Replace the exisiting
Posted by: Tre4Bax - 2013-03-24, 04:29 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (11)

Hi there,

Is there anyway to get TVLisiting to completely replace the internal listing program. My wife is getting confused because from the main menu you go into TVListing but if you press guide on the MCE remote you go into the old listing.

  Multiple Channel combination
Posted by: Tre4Bax - 2013-03-24, 04:28 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Okay so I now have something working that I am pretty happy with and it is time to organise the channels (the tedious bit).

I have a lot of duplicated channels but I'm concerned about what happens if I use the bulk change interface to combine them. Some of those channels have weak signal and some are even encrypted so if they all get combined onto one what is the overall affect? I'm using combined DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 tuners which complicates this. What I don't want is for something to be recorded on that channel and a weak or encrypted frequency gets chosen causing failure.

Any help or suggestions readily accepted.

What formats of external metadata does NextPVR support?
Posted by: McBainUK - 2013-03-24, 11:13 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

For video files, what formats of external metadata does NextPVR specifically support and which taqs does it use? I'm trying to configure Media Centre Master to work with NextPVR.

NPVR 2.6.2 - Current Patches and Getting Started info
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2013-03-24, 04:01 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Current patches for 2.6.2 - see post #2 for getting started and other reference info

===No Cumulative Patch yet; see below for individual patches===

ANY NPVR USERS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS SHOULD INSTALL THE CUMULATIVE PATCH UPDATE AND RECREATE THE PROBLEM BEFORE POSTING A SUPPORT REQUEST. These updated files represent the latest version of NPVR code, and may include other changes not documented, so your problem may already have been fixed. Also, other later patches you may find posted by sub may fail if all your NPVR program files are not up to date. (no, it is not necessary to install any patches before upgrading to a new release of NextPVR - unless otherwise stated, you can upgrade from any release of NextPVR to any later release).

===Individual patches for NextPVR 2.6.2; Install as needed to correct the identified issue===
1. fix glitch in one recording caused when another recording starts - http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post454765
2. restore function of Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder for H.264 video in Win7 & Win8 - http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post454973
3. add support for Freesat/Freeview huffman encoded EPG data - http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post455209
4. improve DST handling with XMLTV epg source - http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post455719
5. undo changes made by patch #4, which caused EPG to be 1 hour off - http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post456517
6. correct audio track selection in some cases - http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post457853

NOTE: some of the above patches, definitely #6 but probably others, will require the newer VC++ runtime listed in post #2. afaik it can't hurt to install it regardless.

It should be noted that patches are listed generally in chronological order, but not perfectly so. The thread a given patch is posted in may contain additional information on exactly what a given patch was intended to do, and may also contain information on additional settings required if you wish to use the functionality provided. Finally, not all patches actually fix what they are supposed to, but the changes usually remain in the file going forward, so they are listed as part of the update history.

Installation Notes These "patches" are simply replacement files for the existing NPVR program files. You should extract them and copy them over the existing files; the default directory is C:\Program Files\NPVR. If you are running Vista or 7 and have UAC enabled, you will likely need to do this from an elevated command prompt or explorer window. To get an elevated explorer window, go to All Programs->Accessories, right-click on Windows Explorer and select "Run as Administrator". Now, within that explorer window only, you are the Administrator.

Before installing patches, you must exit NextPVR.exe, shutdown the NPVR Recording Service and close the NPVR Tray Icon (using the "Stop NPVR Service" icon accomplishes both).

I recommend that you restart your system after installing patches. I've seen numerous cases where the Recording Service is not able to restart properly due to a socket error. You can check your NRecord.log to see whether it did or not, or just reboot to be safe.

  2.6.2 upgrade problem
Posted by: snagglewest - 2013-03-24, 01:03 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (22)

I just tried to upgrade to 2.6.2 and now I've got big problems, the recording service won't start and I get this error.

I stopped the service, installed the update as administrator, re-registered the filters (as administrator) attached are the logs.

I leave for a business trip in 6 hours, please help me get this running. If the wife and kids miss a full week of shows while I'm out of town... well, I might as well stray out of town!
