  Live TV hangs NPVR
Posted by: striben - 2012-09-06, 05:31 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I have a problem where Live TV on a couple of my channels doesn't work.

The enclosed log files in NMTerror.zip is this:

On a NMT client I select to watch a program from the TV Guide.
The systray device status on the PC will show that I am watching live TV.
But on the NMT client I am just returned to the TV Guide.
After maybe 10-15 seconds the device status changes back to idle/nothing.
If I choose to record the program it works OK, and I can start watching the program while still recording it.

The enclosed log files in PCerror.zip is this:

In the TV Guide I select to watch a program.
The NPVR window shows "please wait..." for a few seconds, then it goes blank.
Device status tells me that I am watching live TV, but I ain't.
After 20-30 seconds device status changes back to idle.
At this point NPVR hangs / is unresponsive, and I have to kill it.
Like on the NMT client, starting a recording, and even watching it while recording, works very well.

Only a couple of my TV channels give me this problem, others are fine.

I'm using DVB-C devices, one PCI- and one USB-based, both give me the same problem.

Is this hardware capable of Blu-Ray playback?
Posted by: McBainUK - 2012-09-05, 08:01 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

I've been in contact with Arcsoft regarding Total Media Theatre 5 freezing on most of the Blu Rays I try, this can happen at any point in the film and not always at the same point if I re-watch a film.

Arcsoft support has told me that my PC is too old for BluRay playback:

Quote:the graphic card is not well enough for playing Blu-Ray, especially the 3D file. I would recommend you use HD5500 or above

Are they right? Is HD BluRay plackback too much to expect from this 3 year-old hardware?

Index out of range error "non-negative and less than"
Posted by: mccgilbert - 2012-09-05, 07:09 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I am getting the following error when first running nPVR and clicking on the Live TV option. Using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit SP1 and WinTV PVR PCI 2. 4 GB RAM, AMD Phenom II X4 945 3 GHz. XFX NVidia GeForce 9600 GT. My WinTV card does not appear in the Devices screen.

  Plugin for moving/copying files?
Posted by: mattyb - 2012-09-05, 06:17 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (1)

What's the best plugin for NPVR for moving/copying files around different directories? I've tried the Files plugin but I'm not sure how to use it - any ideas?

  Couple of things...
Posted by: mattyb - 2012-09-05, 05:42 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

First, how do I get NPVR to startup in "Stay on Top" mode? I get an unwanted taskbar at the bottom of the screen and have to right click everytime I reboot (with the NPVR shortcut in my startup folder).

Secondly, NPVR seems to have a short delay when skipping when viewing videos/recordings. Previously GBPVR was almost instantenous, you could hit the skip button on the remote and the playback would skip 10secs and the video/audio would instantly revert. Now in NPVR there is a small delay for the video to kick in. Kind of annoying when skipping through adbreaks etc, and also that I'm used to it being instantaneous. I've read a few threads on this but can't seem to find if there are any resolutions. Any ideas?

Other than these, loving NPVR!!

Should the AMD decoder work with NPVR
Posted by: PatM - 2012-09-05, 12:21 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I have a newer AMD video card and it has its own decoder which seems to work super fast and stable - except when I stop playback there is an unhandled exception.

Now I've never been an ATI (Now AMD) fan precisely because of crap drivers and software so I'm wondering if anyone is running the AMD decoders without issue? If so, I'll do some log and exception requester captures and see what can be figured out. I'd love it if it worked because everything is far faster with that decoder.

Oh yeah, the same issue has been there through several versions of NextPVR, it's not something new.

negative minutes in post padding; directv LAN channel changer
Posted by: TomServo - 2012-09-05, 11:16 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Post-padding:
'Ask This Old House', 'Victory Garden', PBS in general, put multi-minutes of advertising at the end of the show. My current PVR (GBPVR10016, upgraded from previous GB*) lets me set a post-padding of -2 minutes. I'd love to see that in NPVR.

LAN channel changer:
I have a Directv PVR. They've removed the 'autotune' feature. My workaround is to use my home Linux server to send a channel change command via cron as: 10.0.0.58:8080/tv/tune?major=269 over the LAN. I'd like to see NPVR auto-send the command.

And what the heck...this is a skin problem, but I love the last-century look and simplicity of GBPVR10016. One of you damn kids should get off my lawn and go make a skin to replicate that.

NPVR2.5.5 Database Playback Position Table Change?
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2012-09-05, 10:47 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I have come across a couple of videos where it now always asks if you want to resume from the same point.
On checking the database with sqlspy it appears that the file naming has changed with NPVR2.5.5 in the playback position table. Before it contained the full path (//Tower/Adult Content/Video name.mkv)and now only contains the file name (Video name.mkv). I think these files were partly watched before upgrading to 2.5.5.

Would deleting all the entries with full path names in this table be the best way of dealing with this? - i.e. pre NPVR 2.5.5 entries.
Think I might just back up the database first Big Grin

channel scan fails to see a lot of channels as encrypted?
Posted by: dumbledore - 2012-09-05, 06:45 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

using HDHR prime tuner in clear QAM mode - I did a channel scan to find 498 channels found! however 95% of these are unwatchable, and the hdhomerun status program shows them all as locked and high signal, but encrypted. I wonder why the hdhr program can figure that it's encrypted but the npvr channel scan can't?

log attached.
