  Dual monitors
Posted by: R1Dave - 2012-01-19, 12:04 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I've been running my NPVR server on a 42" plasma but decided today that it would be useful to have 2 monitors so that i can do odds n ends on it while it is still being used as a TV. I also thought it might stop the occasional annoying "Update" pop-up i get from a couple of sources like my HP printer software because these should pop-up on the other screen.

So i've added a small monitor which is now the primary display and i'm using the Plasma as the secondary.

I've ticked the box in the NPVR setup to start it on a second monitor so now, when i start NPVR is comes up correctly on the Plasma. All is ok until i try to watch something and then it all jumps back to the primary monitor.

I'm guessing others must do this. Any pointers?

  Genre Coloring
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2012-01-19, 09:11 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Two things that would improve the Genre Coloring:

1. Make it so that the chosen color sticks even if the Genre is disabled. I'd like to be able to set some colors and then enable/disable them as needed.

2. Come up with at least a handful of default colors for the most commonly used genres so that users can try enabling some genres without having to sit and pick colors. I'm never happy with the colors if I choose them myself, but usually will be content with whatever is preset. If you don't want to pick colors, I'm sure someone more graphically inclined than I could choose.

I realize the genres themselves must come from the EPG data, but undoubtedly there are a number of genres that are commonly used and could have their colors pre-set if they're present.

  Channel Groups
Posted by: ttfitz - 2012-01-19, 08:48 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I like the new channel groups option, but am wondering if I am missing something - how can this be used? So far all I've found after setting up a group is that when I bring up the channel list with the context menu, I can display the contents of the group.

I would like to be able to look at the TV Guide listing for a channel group, but if this is possible, I haven't figured out how. Is this possible?

Thanks.

[Next PVR 2.3.6] Doesn't work on my configuration.
Posted by: nebiun - 2012-01-19, 08:16 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi,
I downloaded and install new version of NPVR on my PC (Windows 7 Home Edition x64) and now I cannot see Live TV.

I uninstalled old version and did a fresh installation with the new executable, rescan channels and redo settings like with the previous version but when I choose Live TV the program shows a black initialize window and stays forever.

The previous version worked correctly.
My TV card is a USB dongle: MSI DIGIVOX Micro HD

  <solved> [NPVR 2.3.6] resource-exhaustion / memory leak
Posted by: ShiningDragon - 2012-01-19, 07:54 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (57)

Hi sub,

it looks like as if NPVR had a new introduced memory leakage. Let me tell, what i did:

I started watching tv shows at around 01:20 h cet.
I opened the videofolder, moved through the subfolders until i finally found the show of my choice.
Here i selected the upper entry ".." and pressed play on the remote control.
The playback of the qeued shows begun.
The shows are mkv container with x264 videocodec and aac audiocodec.
The playback happens via LAV Filter (Splitter) and ffdshow (videodecoder)/AAC MONOGRAM (audiodecoder).
I could watch until 05:39h cet and then the error messages within the windows eventviewer started:

Event ID 2004

This repeated itself until 08:29h cet, where the pc finally froze and i had to restart it.

The memory consumption of NPVR was at this time 966 MiB. This is a new record.

Any idea what could be the root for this? The system itself is Windows 7 32-Bit HP and the machine has 4 GiB RAM.

  adjusting channel blast numbers
Posted by: pBS - 2012-01-19, 04:45 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

i setup new version [working great btw] but when i imported channels for my hdpvr, it just gave them all incremental numbers..Sad
instead of 206 for espn i got 40...so i went and changed the db so channel table has correct channel for 'number' slot..
but it still didn't blast right!! all numbers show up correctly....
but then i noticed it uses the channel_mapping table's 'tuning' xml in <channel> to get number to blast with!! not the one you see..
apparently it's not picking up my channel numbers in the mapping process?

also, how do i alter which channel <display_name>206 ESPN</display_name> from xml it uses?
[my channels show up displaying as '206 ESPN' and i'd like to get rid of numbers and keep just name, maybe why it's not picking them up?]

my question is, is there a sql update that can copy from channel table's number field to channel_mapping's channel_source_number?
i tried with a join statement to the channel table but failed...

UPDATE CHANNEL_MAPPING AS M INNER JOIN CHANNEL AS C on M.CHANNEL_OID = C.OID SET M.CHANNEL_SOURCE_NUMBER = C.NUMBER;
is what i had tried without luck...

trying to make a sql statement so i can redo later...
any help appreciated..

  1250 haupp device not found
Posted by: Bluetick - 2012-01-19, 04:41 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I have a 1250 that will work in wintv7 on XP but npvr lists it in the device settings but when I try live tv it gives unable to find device.
I've done a reinstall of npvr after getting the drivers and wintv7 to work with the card.
Thanks

Network Recorder on two NPVR computers?
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2012-01-19, 03:55 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (5)

How do I set up the Network Recorder to use a capture device on another npvr machine in my local netwok? I guess the plugin has to be installed on both the local and the remote computer?

  Fed up with HVR1600
Posted by: johnnysocko - 2012-01-19, 03:36 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (15)

I'm so sick of trying to get this card to work. It's always been a PITA. Now the recordings are shuddering.

All I want now is something to record my OTA ATSC digital programs. Does anyone know if the external HVR1950 works with NPVR? Any better relatively cheap solutions?

Fresh install, use old TV Listing.db, xmltv configuration?
Posted by: Grampz - 2012-01-19, 02:33 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (6)

I have had problems with 2.2.6 npvr and my hardware configuration. Hardware woes upgraded, fresh install of win7-64, latest npvr setup working. The npvr. db file converted well, but I was unable to use the old config.xml file, the plugins and scripts folder. First plug in I wish to install is TV Listings. Would think that I can install the plug in, use my 2 day old db file, use the old updateepg.bat file, intergrate TheTVDB and xmltvextras that was set up before. It honestly took me weeks to get this all to work well, and I do not want to refigure it all out again. Ideas?

Greg
