Editing Currently Selected Item Hard-Locks NPVR/Computer
Posted by: smajor - 2011-11-13, 11:30 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

Discovered this by accident while editing metadata for a currently selected item in Videos.

To reproduce:

1) highlight an item in Videos.
2) replace/change meta data.
3) witness that it DOES update without you doing anything, but also hard locks the PC.

Probably rare for most, you'd have to edit your metadata on a separate PC (my Videos reside on a server volume) and happen to have the item being changed selected.

Weird Code problem - serialisation (I'll spell it the proper way!!"0
Posted by: psycik - 2011-11-13, 09:48 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (22)

So have a weird code problem with c# serialisation.

I have a windows form project using a bunch of classes that deserialise an XML feed. Works perfectly.

If I share. or copy the code files used for the deserialisation (there's a bunch of classes) into a project that is a plugin, then on the very first deseralisation I get a failure in the xml at 0,0 - with the inner exception getting an object reference not found.

The URL location of the xml is the same for both projects. Even saving the XML to disk in the windows form and opening that in the plugin gets the same problem....but saving the XML in the plugin and opening it in the windows form works.

Really stuck. The only possible thing I can think of may be that the Plugin is targeting dotnet 3.5.

Any other suggestions?

  Busy/Wait Indicator?
Posted by: cncb - 2011-11-13, 07:03 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (7)

Is there an easy way to do this? I don't want to throw up a 'message' since it is shown too long and would rather have a more subtle indicator that I could turn on/off easily while my plugin takes a while to do something.

Cannot skip after pausing a recording
Posted by: imagn - 2011-11-13, 03:42 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I encountered an issue (I have installed the patches in the johnsonx42 sticky that cover upto #40) that once i pause a recording and then resume, i can not longer skip forward. It just takes me back to where i hit pause. If i stop and then select resume, i can then skip forward and backward as needed. This is on a client PC see attached logs

Any help

Thanks

  View dng extension pictures
Posted by: SoupSatchel - 2011-11-13, 09:50 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

dng is an adobe file format, I've added dng to the store of extensions in config.xml (so I can see the file) and installed the codec from here http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Codec so I can see the picture in windows explorer, but I can't view it in NPVR.

Any ideas?

  Select audio track from remote
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2011-11-12, 11:58 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

The menu for selecting subtitles was a great improvement, would it be possible to do the same for audio track as well? Lot of out channels have both AC3 (5.1) and MPEG (2.0) audio, and I have a bunch of videos with multi language audiotracks.

  Manual Recordings for On Demand.
Posted by: mvallevand - 2011-11-12, 04:54 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I decided I wanted to try watching Grimm and since it is on Video On Demand so I thought great, I can add a channel with no EPG start LiveTV tune it with the cable remote, and Ctrl-K but instead I get "No Show Info" . Would it be possible to generate an immediate manual recording for one full hour on Ctrl-K if there is no EPG data? If the time was wrong I can adjust this on the Recording screen.

  0 byte recordings again
Posted by: Spark - 2011-11-12, 05:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I know this was talked about before, but it still is going on, and there is still no good way that npvr will inform you that it is "recording" a 0 byte file.
In the status window, it should report error, or bytes/sec it is recording, so we know.
Even change the color of the title bar to green for recording OK, red for error would be OK.

In this case, I know that the reason was poor signal at the time it tried, though, watching it now it works ok.
strength=36, quality=35 (took 32ms to check)
then about 55 mins later when I got home,
strength=36, quality=99 (took 16ms to check)

It should also reset the channel if the recording is 0 size, and retry a signal lock again for X tries. That would be nice. Smile

HVR-1600 black screen in live TV
Posted by: toomanyhandles - 2011-11-12, 02:51 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi all-

I used GBPVR for some time, then mainboard issues put the PVR on a back burner.

I'm setting this back up now on a box with a new mainboard, and a Hauppauge 1600, with NPVR.

WinTV 7 works great- IR blaster fine, recordings fine, video image great.

NPVR though just shows a black screen for live TV.

I was using WinTV7.0.x from the install CD. I tried upgrading to WinTV 7.2.x (latest on their site) and I have the drivers in place (installer step 1) but WinTV itself I could not update to 7.2 as I don't have the CD handy. WinTV still works fine though.

I put on the AC3filter1.62B, no change.

My video source is from set-top box to analog TV-in on this card. Do I need the "softpvr" utilities mentioned on the wiki perhaps? I expected not, since I had a WinTV install already.

I'll see if I can dig up that CD (I hate that) but do not at the moment think is is involved. In the meantime, I have seen via search that there are a couple posts about this issue but no fixes that I could see.

log directory and config file attached. This is under WinXP. NPVR: I had the August 2.6 release in place, then added the Oct release with the extra patches when I noticed this issue, without a change

Thanks for thoughts!
