I am attempting to run NPVR on an older machine with Windows XP:
Athlon 64 3700+
1gb ram
Geforce 4mx video card (I've also got a Radeon 9250 I've tried)

I have GBPVR working fine; I can play just about any video, including recorded .TS files full HD (1920x1080) which are recorded by NPVR on my server (use video library file share). I am currently using an older SAF 4 installation with Cyberlink codec (the one where you could drop the .AX file in C:\) for MPEG2. I'm most interested in getting MPEG2 working correctly in NPVR since thats what my recordings use.

For MPEG2, I have tried several configurations with NPVR, none of which quite work. I have tried my current setup with SAF 4; I get a black screen with audio. I have tried SAF 5 (no Cyberlink codec). With SAF 5, the video is extremely choppy and not watchable. I have tried an old NVIDIA purevideo codec that I've had success with (GBPVR) in the past. Its a little better than SAF 5, but still really choppy and not watchable.
I am playing the .TS files directly (file share, video library), not through streaming (recordings menu)

I have the latest PowerDVD and was thinking about trying to use those codecs next. Is that possible with NPVR?

I would love to go to Windows 7, but currently don't have the funds to upgrade. Also, I'm using a remote control that does not have Windows 7 drivers, so that will have to be replaced as well if I upgrade.

Can anyone help me get this machine playing my recordings with NPVR?

The UK channel fiver has changed name to 5*. I have updated the EPG and all is working OK, but how do I name the channel logo for 5*?

Obviously the * cannot appear in a filename due to its use as a wildcard...

Any Ideas?

I'm absolutely enamored with the way that the "client" mode on NPVR is working. My wife has a habit of tying up the main HTPC machine/entertainment center with listening to NPR podcasts ("This American Life", mainly) for hours at a time - which was always a point of contention with us. I've tried to explain to her that she can listen to those anywhere via her iPod.... oh well. No more fighting that fight! I've got both my bootcamp partition on my laptop and my desktop machine configured up as NPVR clients. I'm also considering an nVidia Ion/Intel Atom nettop to put in our bedroom to do the same thing. LOVE LOVE LOVE the ease of setting up client mode.

I thought I had tried that back in the GBPVR days with less success.

If i let my client machines(2) run to the end of the file nextpvr stops responding
It never returns to recordings menu as it should
bit of a pain as i normally just leave it playing then it shuts down when file stops playing

Is anyone else noticing have this happen also ?

I think the answer to my question is no, but I thought I would ask anyway.

Can NPVR play DRM content such as that downloaded by BBC iPlayer?

I want to be able to play it by just navigating to it from Video Library, rather than having to use Media Player. I know you can go the Get Iplayer route, but I do not want to strip the DRM. I just want to be able to play it from within NPVR.

Also, I suppose of interest, is whether it can play other DRM content (not just the stuff from BBC Iplayer)?

In my npvr.db3 EPG_EVENT table, the start_time (and end_time) fields are stored exactly as...

I seem to have changed something so that my old .mpg files dont play anymore. nPVR plays .ts, .flv and .dr-ms files. The .mpg files used to play and still do play on PVRX2, Media Player etc. What have I done wrong?

Starting a recording and streaming it works great remotely through the web server interface, however, if I press "Cancel" to stop the recording prematurely NRecord.exe crashes with this in the Windows XP (32bit) Application Event log:

I'm running Windows XP Pro 32bit and I'm using a single WinTV PVR PCI II tuner card.

Any ideas why this is happening?

When I play a recording from my HDVPR that I record in 720p ffdshow shows them as 1920x1080 H264. When I play them in MPC or GraphEdit they show as 1280x720 AVC1. I don't notice a difference but it seems odd.

Just got the Blackgold BGT3620 Analog/SD/HD card for use in the UK and having problems configuring it in NPVR.

1. DVB-T SD works fine out of the box
2. Analog input is found if I (correctly?) add this to the analogdevices.xml file.

3. Can't find any HD channels in scanning though.

Device appears installed correctly in device manager as a "BlackGold DVB-T2/T/C Device (IR)" and using latest 8.1.0.0 drivers.

I can find HD channels fine on a Freeview HD STB connected to same aerial fly lead (at 570000kHz). I've also tried ScanChannelsBDA_UK.exe whick can lock (a good signal) at this frequency but does not find any channels (but I'm guessing it is not capable of identifying DVB-T2 channels).

I believe all DVB-T2 channels are seen as DVB-T with these cards so no separate device is required. However the devices found in NPVR are:

Analog 7231 BDA Analog capture
DVB-T 7231 BDA DVBT Tuner
DVB-T 7231 BDA DVBT Tuner (#2)
DVB-C 7231 BDA DVBC Tuner
DVB-C 7231 BDA DVBC Tuner (#2)
DVB-T 7231 BDA DVBC Tuner (MCE)
DVB-T 7231 BDA DVBC Tuner (MCE) (#2)
Only the first 2 DVB-T devices find any digital channels, no idea what the MCE ones are for.

Anybody any ideas please, I think at least one person on these forums has this card working with HD channels.
