"Device Failed To Start" (Hauppauge 2250)
Posted by: tiger66 - 2011-02-12, 02:37 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Hi,

I have a Hauppauge 2250 and am running Windows 7 Home. I'm using the latest version of NPVR (1.5.36) with the latest patches (NPVR 1.5.36 Patches Final). I had a digital QAM channel set up to record from 8:00 to 9:00 and an NTSC analog channel set up to tape from 9:00 to 10:00. The QAM channel recorded fine, but the analog channel recording never started. Upon opening NPVR, I noticed that the status of the recording was failed. I then tried to start the recording again (note that the digital recording was still in progress due to overlap) and it again failed.

Even though the 2250 is supposed to record:

1. Two analog channels at once (which I witnessed in NPVR).
2. Two digital channels at once (haven't tried yet).
3. One analog and one digital (fails for me).

I can only say the case of 2 simultaneous analog recordings seems to work. The problem seems to be related to a digital recording overlapping with an analog one. In the log, it seems that NRecord is attempting to start the recording/encoder. So, I'm wondering if this is a Hauppauge driver issue?

Any help/ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
(Log file attached).

Scheduled Recordings Icon has Strange Behaviour
Posted by: obiwan - 2011-02-12, 02:30 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (11)

Two or Three times this week the TV Listing is not showing the round icon for scheduled recordings.
The timeline at the top does show something is scheduled but you need to drop to pending recordings to see what.

What is strange is the time slot in the hour before correctly shows the icon as well as has the red background color.

Another issue I have observed is the channel icon in Listings sometimes has the same icon for multiple channels showing in the same page.
At first I thought maybe it was only channels I have no icon setup for, but on close observation that is not so, after paging up or down a few times it straightens itself out.

I have not updated to 3.4

Any thoughts ?

  Computer Locks up/freezes when starting
Posted by: big3b69 - 2011-02-11, 10:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I am a little fustrated. I am always looking for to updates, but when I made the switch to nPVR, it has been very fustrating.

First and foremost, my computer has issues just starting up, never had theat issue with gb-pvr.

Second, no matter what combination of drivers I get choppy Live TV and recordings. Does not even help with playing the recordings thru VLC.

I tried the ffshow thingy and it only got worse. Then uninstalled the ffshow and part of my orginal decoders are gone.

So after 7 days of fighting nPVR, I was going to download gb-pvr becasue that worked for me, but I cannot find it anywhere on the internet to download.

I was planning on upgrading my computer one of these days, but it looks like I am forced to spend money now instead of later.

I do love the look and feel of nPVR, but it has really messed things up for me.

Recording panel not working on PCH/NMT
Posted by: agerdin - 2011-02-11, 10:41 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (25)

Quote:- added recordings panel to display upcoming recordings inside the 'now playing' area

alibert, it looks like the recording panel is not working on the PCH/NMT. I do not have any logs for this now but can recreate the problem if logs are needed. The panels are working fine on the PC, but NPVR wont even start on the PCH/NMT with the panels activated. Besides this 3.4 works like a charm.

Different device priorities on different channels
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2011-02-11, 09:41 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I find that my two digital tuners are better with different channels. What if there was an option to change the device priority depending on the channel

  AC3 passthrough via spdif
Posted by: BigMoose - 2011-02-11, 02:55 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Having hijacked the "win 7 codecs" thread, thought I should start my own asking for help... Smile I am going mad trying to sort something out I wonder might be an nPVR issue. Can anyone who has channels with AC3 audio and uses spdif to an external amp for AC3 decoding try this?? Watch live TV in nPVR and pause it for a few seconds. Unpause and see if it's still in sync. Pause again for a few seconds (~10 or so) and unpause... by now for me it's very obviously out of sync. If it;s not, try pausing again for longer. If I stop playback and restart (using resume) it's back in sync.

I have tried different AC3 decoders but all do the same and have concluded mpeg audio channels are fine, but AC3 ones are not. It never used to do this though which makes me wonder if the latest nPVR has caused it. I dont think I've done anything else to the machine. I've upgraded the SAF5, but have then installed AC3Filter and that does it too. So I am leaning back towards nPVR...

  TV Listings 3.4 released
Posted by: alibert - 2011-02-11, 11:21 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (9)

Hi,

I've just uploaded a new version of the TVListings plugin at the wiki.

Changelog:

Quote:- fixed last recording date of recording groups being displayed in utc time
- added channel names in conflict popup
- added logic to save an image from the details popup (amazon item or thetvdb episode) to the .\media\shows directory
- added option to exclude/include single character words in find more searches
- removed obsolete 'past days' config setting
- including '-' character in find more searches now
- added support for categories / genres, including display of the genre in the description, genre-based colorization of the programmes in the grid, genre-based 'find more' searches
- fixed an issue where find more results show wrong data of imported recordings
- added logic to detect renamed recording files
- added recordings panel to display upcoming recordings inside the 'now playing' area

Additionaly, there's also a new version of the XmltvExtras utility:
Quote:- added automatic detection of used xmltv files from database (no commandline parameter needed anymore)
- added support for xmltv categories (genres)

Please note the following when upgrading:
- NPVR 1.5.36 is necessary
- the new version contains skin changes, so if you're not using the default skin, please wait until your skin officially supports v3.4 of the plugin
- there's no need to overwrite an existing "TV Listings.db" database file during upgrade
- for genres/caegories, version 3.1 of the XmltvExtras is needed and needs to be run after each epg update, see the wiki page of the utility for details
- by default, the plugin sends information about the next recordings to the 'now playing' notification area on the main screen, this can be configured through the settings form of the plugin

  TVListings "TVDBCache Update" crashes NPVR
Posted by: qualsite - 2011-02-10, 06:42 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (1)

I keep getting a notice that NPVR had stopped working, and the last log entry always says:

2011-02-10 09:25:50.514 [DEBUG][7] TV Listings: TVDBCache: update due since 1/8/1970 12:00:00 AM, starting update.
2011-02-10 09:25:50.523 [INFO][9] TV Listings: TVDBCache: update thread started.
2011-02-10 09:25:50.523 [DEBUG][9] TV Listings: TVDBCache: last update time was 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM.

I saw the previous post about this problem, and that bug had been fixed, so I downloaded and installed the most recent version of TVListing plugin, but the problem still occurs, even when TVListings and TVRecordings plugins are disabled. What am I missing??
