  Managing identical tuners
Posted by: keith_leitch - 2010-12-27, 04:49 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (14)

I am using a Lifeview TVWalker Twin--not the forbidden one from many years ago, but a dual DVB-T tuner that works like a charm with GB-PVR. However, I have an identical unit that I cannot keep connected. It installs correctly in Windows, and functions with its own software, but GBPVR cannot tell them apart; it believes there is still only a total of two tuners, and selects which one to use by way of crap-shoot. Has anyone out there ever faced and solved a similar problem?

Still have no been able to get clients going pn NPVR (Playback)
Posted by: imagn - 2010-12-26, 11:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (20)

I've been a little dissapointed as it seems i am not going to be able to make the transition over to NPVR. I appreciate your hard work sub, and love the new look of NPVR, and am hoping you might be able to shed some light on what i should be looking out for to get this going. I have not been able to get playback going properly with any of my clients, while all work fine in GBPVR. All video is stuttery and dont seem to be able to get it straightend out. I have tried many different decoders and none seem to be doing the trick. Most of my playback is mpeg 2 ts files.

My clients are all hard wired, one is on win 7, one is on xp sp3, neither playback video smoothly, server is on Win 7

Is the client implementation somehow different in NPVR than i GBPVR, i do know that GBPVR filesharing mode is what works best in GBPVR

Thanks

Freeview satellite on 720p or 1080p Plasma
Posted by: wodger - 2010-12-26, 11:35 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I only use freeview over Satellite, which I believe is just SD quality. I never rent DVDs or bluerays. I'm thinking about getting a new 42" plasma TV, and that 720p is going to be good enough for me for now. Question is will my 'rig' handle this nicely? Does my graphics card do the upscaling to 720p easily, or will the TV be forced to do it? Is that even possible? Appreciate any comments. Cheers.

  .36 and schedules direct

Not sure if I'm blind, or missing something obvious...

But where is the setup for schedules direct?

Thanks

1.5.36 can't use analog tuners, but 1.5.33 can.
Posted by: ElihuRozen - 2010-12-26, 07:57 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (24)

Ever since I upgraded to 1.5.36, I can't use my analog tuners. I get a message like "Unale to comminucate with recording service." I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I shut the machine off & then restarted it. I tried disabling the devices in Device Manager & re-enabling them. I even tried installing 1.5.33 over 1.5.36, but it detected the newer files & didn't overwrite. I have a 2250, 1800 & 1600. The 2250 tuners are only used for QAM. The 1800 is only used for analog. The 1600 is used for QAM & analog.

The attached logs represent the following: I uninstalled. I installed 1.5.33 & watched a few minutes of random shows from an analog tuner. I exited, stopped the service & upgraded to 1.5.36 & tired to watch something.

  Some challenges with Universe Plugin
Posted by: cooper43 - 2010-12-26, 06:37 PM - Forum: UbuStream, Web Radio and Universe - Replies (7)

Martin,

Awesome plugin. Running from PCH A-110 with PlayOn and NPVR 1.5.36 and latest mvpmcx2 update. YouTube seems to always work from PCH but I would say Netflix works about 20% of the time. If it doesn't work it goes black for about 1 minute and then just comes back. On computer, it seems to always go to 'Buffering' screen for about 20 seconds and then return. Log files attached... any ideas?

Steve

Recording 2 progs at once always fails
Posted by: Glynderi - 2010-12-26, 05:42 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (22)

Hi,

I've noticed in the past week or so that recordings are failing when I try to record 2 different progs at the same time.
Running XP SP3, all updates, all required add-ons as listed in the installation sticky. I have tested this in the past few days and if I schedule 2 recordings at least one, sometimes both fail. Recording a single program is fine.
I have 2 x Hauppage PCI 9000 cards.

Running v1.5.36 of NPVR

Logs directory attached.

Thanks

Robin

  NPVR - client/server firewall ports
Posted by: Turas - 2010-12-26, 04:20 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

does someone know which ports are needed to be opened on windows firewall for client/server connection in npvr?

atm i set on client/server (after analyzing errors in log-files):
- 7969 tcp in/out
- 8968 tcp in/out

seems to work now but i'd like to know what is exactly necessary, and for what reason... Smile

cheers turas

  1.5.36 and blue screen.
Posted by: jki - 2010-12-26, 03:40 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (28)

After update live tv gave "unable communicate with recording service" or something lt.
Second try crashed Windows to blue screen, and same again after restart.
I removed installation and folders and made fresh one, now blue screen coming when I
try scan channels. Gp-pvr still works in this computer.
