  Exits to desktop
Posted by: Snooze - 2010-04-01, 03:27 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi,

I am experiencing a problem while watching Live TV or Recordings where after about 15 minutes or more PVRX2 closes and leaves me at my desktop. Happened 3 times within the past 1.5 hours. I am attaching the logs hoping someone can see something wrong.

Thanks

EDIT: Never mind, Got it sorted, the Weather2 update during playback was crashing it.

Argument out of range exception: Length cannot be less than zero
Posted by: richtrapp - 2010-03-31, 11:12 PM - Forum: Weather / Weather2 - Replies (15)

Hello,
I'm new to gbpvr, but I'm fairly technical. I'm getting the following exception in the PVRX2.exe.log:

2010-03-31 16:50:47.031 ERROR [3] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION:: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Length cannot be less than zero.
Parameter name: length
at System.String.InternalSubStringWithChecks(Int32 startIndex, Int32 length, Boolean fAlwaysCopy)
at weather2.AccuweatherXML.ParseLocationCodes()
at weather2.AccuweatherXML.ParseWeatherXML()
at weather2.WeatherTask.UpdateWeatherThread()
at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(Object state)
at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state)
at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart()

Anyone seen this? I'm poking with various settings trying to figure out which is causing this. It worked successfully for a day, but is aborting today.

This is preceded by several messages "Unable to find requested skin image: ", but happens with both Blue and Slick skins. Any relevant suggestions would be appreciated.

Weather 2 version 1.1.03
Running on XP SP3.

Poll: What media center software do you use? Vote for GB-PVR!

I'm running an external poll to find out what media center people are using. I'd really like to see how much of the HTPC community uses each major media center.

  Virus alert!!
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2010-03-31, 04:32 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

VIRUS WARNING!!!

This is to warn all of you about the hor4rible «Hello!» / «Hello again!» or «Hi!» / «Hi again!» virus that is spreading incredible fast.

One sure sign that a computer is infected is that the virus will insert random num7bers in all texts you are typing, if you are NOT infected you will not see these numbers. The virus will not only corrupt your files and de2stroy your harddrives, it will also des9troy all your backups and send an email to break up with your girlfriend/boyfriend and send emails to your friends and insult them the worst way possible. It will use your online-bank acco5unt and donate all your money to the founda2tion for homeless turtles in Nigeria, and they are known to NEVER give any mo7ney back.

The virus will also connect to your grocery store and ca8ncel all your orders and reorder only very salty food, it will pour out all your beer and softdrinks from your refrig7erator and pour jam in your keyboard, therea6fter it will tie an alm4ost Gordian knot on the cables behind your com6puter.

The virus is progr1ammed to strike on 1/4-2010, and I'v heard rumors that it can spread via forums like this too.

Best way to upgrade capture card.
Posted by: elodis - 2010-03-31, 03:27 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I'm about to upgrade my PVR 1600's to a 2250. At my last upgrade, I seemed to remember losing my EPG settings and reoccurring recordings/etc. I figured this is because the EPG is associated with the capture device. Is the a way to avoid this when switching out/removing cards?

Thanks

A Complete noob question about remote controller
Posted by: mpooley - 2010-03-31, 11:51 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi
I have JUST set up a test machine to try GBPVR out. I had some problems but apart from some niggles about naming of channels. I think I am getting there.

What I cant understand is my new MCE compatable remote controll.

for instance to get the EPG i have to press DVD menu! OK thats not major . But when i am say watching a recording, stop it and press DVD menu I go back to the main menu?

Lots of keys seem to act like this. I cant even remember all the variations, it just seems totally illogical.

Is this a GBPVR thing I just havn't understood?

Ok A little more Detail
I bring up the main menu and press ok for Recordings. List comes up, select one, another menu comes up, I select play
It starts playing with a small guide at bottom of screen.
Now i'd just found this guide by accident when mucking about with the dvd button. but i thought id got rid by re-pressing same button.

Ok I think press dvd button again -- nothing happens I cant get rid of it?
I press back - Nothing
press more and the epg go's up a page.
press recorded TV - Nothing
Guide - Nothing
Live TV - Nothing
DVD Menu and hey presto I go back to the recordings with the recorded show displayed in corner.
Why did this work now and not before?
Press dvd menu button again and it goes back to main menu with recorded show in large window eeek!
I then press stop which i assume will stop the recorded show but nothing happens.

i Try all buttons nothing happens til i get back to the dvd button which seems to be only one that does anything but it pops me back into the recording with the small epg still showing LOL
Ok if i was in the main menu at one point why didn't i get out of the recording that way?
Ok this way works but I have loads of buttons and they seem to work/not work when they feel like it.

I hope you can make some sort of sense out of this, it's just onen of the control probs I am having.

BTW I did set up the MCE controller in config!

thanks

Mike

  Keep losing tuner cards 1.4.7
Posted by: glassvial - 2010-03-31, 03:46 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

Had this problem in the previous version as well. I thought maybe it was a hardware issue. I had one Hauppauge PVR-350 card and 2 HVR-1600 cards. Every so often (totally randomly, could be days, could be weeks) the system would "lose" 2 of the 3 cards and I'd only be able to record 1 thing at a time (and in the process missing my recordings, obviously). The cards are still there in windows device manager (btw this is XP Pro SP3). I decided maybe the old 350 card was the problem, so I picked up 2 HVR-1800's and also took 1 1600 out (current system 1 1600 2 1800's). Also upgraded the hard drive and decided to completely re-load XP to see if something was corrupted in windows. That was a week or two ago, and tonight I notice recordings from last night got missed! Same problem! Only 1 card working, once again. This is getting VERY VERY VERY frustrating and I don't know where else to ask for help but here. Please let me know if I need to post whatever logs or if anyone has any ideas, thanks.

  Recording status incorrect?
Posted by: Spark - 2010-03-30, 11:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Here is another odd issue.
Selected a show from the guide, selected 'quick record', and the status showed it was recording.
About 5 mins later, I noticed the filesize was still 0 in length, but it still showed it as recording.
I pull up the guide again, and selected 'cancel', then 'quick record' again, and this time it worked.

Logs don't show any obvious errors, but, I was thinking isn't it possible for gbpvr to monitor/show the amount of bytes written so far, and if that is 0, to retry to record again?
Speaking of status, as I mentioned, it would be nice if you can show bytes written, and the current size of the source (1280x720 or whatever), and perhaps audio specs as well?

GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log shows no obvious errors.
The show I was testing was Entertainment Tonight...

  Remote sensitivity......fixed :)
Posted by: Jaggy - 2010-03-30, 08:38 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (3)

I just thoght I would pass this on as it may help some others out there.

Ever since I got my M34a I have been having trouble with the remote if I am not 'directly' in line with the NMT & it was even worse using the Hauppauge remote.

When I got my refurbished A100 the remote wouldn't work at all but after taking the top off & gently pushing the sensor/receiver forward it started working & I thought it may have a bad solder joint & didn't think much more than that.

Finally last night I got fed up with the M34a & took the case off to discover the receiver was sitting on an angle of about 30 degrees backwards (away from the front) so I gently pushed it forward until it was on an angle of approx 5 to 10 degrees forward (almost touching the front plastic cover) held my breath & tried it out & what a difference!! I can now have the remote pointing heaps away from the NMT & it still receives the signal fine....why didn't I do it ages ago?....I also did the same thing to the A100 with an almost as good result.

  GB-PVR BBC1 is now SKY news !!!!
Posted by: Markiecad - 2010-03-30, 07:54 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi
I have been running GBPVR for about 2 years (v1.1.5). Everything was going great until there was the digital switchover earlier this year (I live in South Wales UK). Now whenever I access BBC1 it shows SKY news. I have tried remapping but it just seems to revert as soon as I come out of the configuration console and update the EPG. I seem to be overwhelmed by the technicality of this product - I'm well out of my depth and don't even know how I got it working in the first place!!!!J
Even when I go into Tuning Assistant and select my card (Hauppage PVR350) it seems to default to Argentina - when I try and select any Hauppage card therein it says "failed to find crossbar filter"
Thanks in hopefull anticipation

Mark

Just checked in device manager and apparently it's a Hauppauge Nova-DT Dual DVB-T tuner
