Script to increase my system reliability
Posted by: Satori - 2010-03-30, 05:15 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I wanted some opinions on running this script to make my system more reliable. As I mentioned in these posts I have a (non GBPVR) issue with my setup somewhere that causes it to occasionally not record programs:

http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...&highlight=
http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...&highlight=

In an effort to make the system more reliable I am going to try having the computer run this script at every resume from S3:

Code:
@echo off Date /t >>"C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\logs\devicelog.log" Time /t >>"C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\logs\devicelog.log" devcon status PCI\??#1 if errorlevel 1 goto RestartTuner1 goto TestTuner2 :RestartTuner1 echo Restarting Tuner 1 >>"C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\logs\devicelog.log" devcon restart PCI\??#1 @ping 127.0.0.1 -n 10 -w 1000> nul devcon status PCI\??#1 if errorlevel 1 goto Restart goto TestTuner2 :TestTuner2 devcon status PCI\??#2 if errorlevel 1 goto RestartTuner2 echo Tuners Working >>"C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\logs\devicelog.log" goto End :RestartTuner2 echo Restarting Tuner 2 >>"C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\logs\devicelog.log" devcon restart PCI\??#2 @ping 127.0.0.1 -n 10 -w 1000> nul devcon status PCI\??#2 if errorlevel 1 goto Restart echo Tuners Working >>"C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\logs\devicelog.log" goto End :Restart shutdown /r /c goto End :End end

The script is not entirely original it is from a link in this post from Graham:
http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...post367440

I modified it to suit my 2 tuners and will put in the actual HW IDs later.

My Setup - Honorable Mention to GBPVR
Posted by: jtokach - 2010-03-30, 03:24 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I just uploaded some photos for a contest and cross posted to the AV Science Forums in the Definitive Tech Owners thread. I chose GBPVR to represent the onscreen image b/c it looks really nice in a static shot and is certainly worthy of the publicity. Hopefully it gets published!

Help with dvb epg broadcast NZ
Posted by: Flyndr - 2010-03-29, 11:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (18)

I have been using xmltv NZ untill it seems to have failed a few weeks ago and i havent been able to fix it. Never mind - ill just use broadcast listings. I set this up and scanned for update. I get the listings ok but only for the next 2 hours (TV1,2,3) I have rescanned all channels and they are appropriately mapped (on both tuners). Has anybody else had this problem??

Incidentally I have installed the latest version of GBPVR and tried to insert geekzone URL in xml settings - the browser drew a blank on the URL hence i am now trying broadcast program guide. Using win xp

  Help with AV in
Posted by: numberonekiwi - 2010-03-29, 10:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I am not sure what I have done wrong but with a digistar 103 ( conexant cx23880 ) chipset I can get all digital channels from satelite but if I select a new capture device and set to analog - conexant Blackbird ( as shown when set to show devices in this computer ) set to capture device 1, and composite external tuner save and add channel then save that part I will get a new channel showing up in channels list so I think that part is right
I save that and GB-PVR restarts as normal for any changes there but when I goto PVRX2 I still get my normal channels if I select press 0 ( as I configured it to that number ) it does not change to that input source

Any Ideas ?

Cheers

Shaun

Popcorn + GBPVR + playon TV service
Posted by: mvallevand - 2010-03-29, 09:39 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (2)

Hello
I am a longtime GBPVR and Media MVP User. I have three Media MVPs in my home hooking up to one central GBPVR server.

I have been looking at devices which can leverage the Playon TV service for Hulu and Netflix support. In doing so I came across the Popcorn players as pretty much teh only option which might support both GBPVR and playon . ( I don;t wnat toahve to have double sets of these network devices at each TV location...)

I am curious how seamless it is to be able to flip back and forth bewteen the GBPVR front-end application and the regular inteferface that supports the upnp playon service? ( something my wife could do via the remote?)

I am also curious if a house network with mixed Media MVPs and Popcorn unnits could coexist easily

many thanks for all your time and expertise!!!

(A geekzone.co.nz user)

  Remove deleted files from database
Posted by: caz - 2010-03-29, 08:46 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Hi

I have a gbpvr server that is set up to record a lot more shows than I actually watch, I do it just to have a wide selection to choose from whenever I watch tv. I record so many shows every day that it is getting annoying having to delete all of them in the gbpvr interface. Typically, I just go to the server console once a month and delete the stuff I don't want, which leaves the database with a lot of deleted recordings. Would it be possible to have GBPVR scan the drive for deleted files and then delete the corresponding entries in the database? A "Delete recordings older than N days" feature would also do the trick ....

Casper

  FF, REW crash on playback
Posted by: jw100 - 2010-03-29, 08:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

When I press these keys on the remote a little too fast, PVRX2 hangs, reporting "AppHangB1", Has anyone else seen this or is it just my machine?

Would there be any way to prevent rapid key presses from being passed to the system?

  HDHomerun stability?
Posted by: caz - 2010-03-29, 08:10 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi

Does anyone have an overview of the stability of HDHomerun as a dvb-c device(QAM 256)?

Going digital has been a bit of a driver nightmare for me, so I would like some reassurance before I order one ... I started out with 3 Hauppauge hvr-930c's which are having serious BDA driver issues ... Zero length recordings about 25% of the time (http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...highlight=)...
I managed to get a refund for two of them and then ordered 2 Terratec Cinergy PCI CI HD cards, however, it turns out there is a driver issue when running more than one of these cards. After a lot of research I found that there is a Skystar dvb-c device with the same chipset, but their driver is newer .. After hacking the Terratec driver is has been running completely stable for a few months now, however, these experiences leave me a bit reluctant to purchase an expensive ethernet based device ... If I could get a few comments on the stability of this device it would be greatly apprieciated ...

Casper

  Windows 7
Posted by: rmjb - 2010-03-29, 07:02 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

Hi,

I'm new to GBPVR, I found it from the Hauppauge web site as a 3rd party application for the MediaMVP.

I used my MediaMVP before with the mvpmc project on my linux home server. I've since switched to Windows 7 and, as I thought, the stock Hauppauge software to drive the MediaMVP cannot play any of my videos.

I got the Hauppauge software working, I even upgraded to the 3.4 beta for Vista, since this is the latest version. On their site they say it's for 32-bit, but I'm running 64-bit Windows 7. In fact, if I try to play a .mpg the MediaMVP just reboots so maybe it's working to play videos at all, but at least the MediaMVP is booting up.

I followed the installation instructions of having the Hauppauge software installed, but set the services to Manual startup; installing GBPVR and setting the number of MVP/NMT clients to 1 and getting a fresh dongle.bin. However, even though I've done this my MediaMVP can't find any server to boot from.

When I was using the mvpmc project I remember having to set up a tftp server and changing an option on my network's dhcp server and all that drama, but I did not find similar instructions for neither the Hauppauge software nor GBPVR. Are there steps that I am missing to get the MediaMVP to boot and work with a GBPVR backend?
