Cancel button is missing in EWA
Posted by: gkreis - 2009-06-30, 05:11 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (2)

I am running the latest version of GBPVR (1.3.11) and I can't cancel a recording in progress with the EWA. This is bizarre. The cancel button doesn't appear. Any ideas?

Does the version of WMP make a difference?
Posted by: McBainUK - 2009-06-30, 03:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have one machine still with WMP v9.

  • Does the version of WMP make a difference to the use of GB-PVR?
  • Does GB-PVR use the components that are upgraded by installing WMP v10 / WMP v11 or does it use the lower level DirectX/Show stuff?

  Motherboard died - suggestions please
Posted by: Dan the man - 2009-06-30, 12:32 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Hi All,

My MSI K9AG Neo2-Digital board has just died so I'm left with a load of components I'd, ideally, like to reuse so any suggestions would be appreciated.

1. I need a motherboard with at least 3 PCI slots for my Nova-Ts, preferably 4 as I'd like to experiment with a satellite card as well.

2. Gigabit ethernet. I've recently moved into a new place, which I'll wire-up soon, and want to connect my clients up with an eye to HD in the future.

3. Onboard graphics would be good but not essential.

4. SATA HDD - I've both a 500GB and 1TB drives

5. Form factor doesn't matter as it'll be in an ATX size tower.

6. 2GB DDR2 Memory

ATI or Nvidia graphics are fine as I've managed to have success with both although I could only get the ATI 690g onboard graphics working properly in Vista.

I'm happy to build this as either just a server machine or server/main PC machine.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Thanks,

Dan

DVD black screen if played first.
Posted by: re-Barr - 2009-06-30, 05:40 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I have had an issue going on for the past couple weeks where my wife would call me and tell me that she could not see the DVD when she would play it. So I would tell her to reboot the computer and I would check it out when I got home and everything would seem fine.

Well tonight I realized what is happening. If I play the dvd first after PVRX2 is started then the video would not appear. Audio would be there and if you can figure out what you were doing (i.e. remember if you have a resume screen up) then you can navigate with the buttons. This goes for a first time viewing a DVD or not. However if I watch anything else recorded or live then the DVD works fine. And I can turn on the other videos and immediately back out and the dvd will work fine.

I have tried Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder and Dscaler I even added ffdshow in the config.xml file just to see if it would reproduce it and it did it also.

I had another DVD drive lying around so I tried swapping the drives for good measure. No change.

I am using GBPVR 1.3.11. And so far the only thing I have added is the skin blue-retro-SHV

Other specs would be:
Windows XP SP2
Dell Optiplex GX280 P4 2.8GHz
1Gig RAM
Hauppaugge 1600
Nvidia 7600GS

New to MVP/GBPVR.. Q about 'custom tasks'
Posted by: Dave72 - 2009-06-30, 03:34 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Hi all.
Had a MediaMVP new in box sitting on the shelf here for a year and a half.. bought it from praise on here and other sites.. knew I was gonna do some htpc eventually.. lol. Well, finally got around to running the cat5e and installing the thing.

I have to thank Sub et al , other than having to figure out and install a 3rd party dhcp provider since Im using a 2nd nic on this pc direct to the MediaMVP.. the install of this app is quite friendly. I could see a day that this program goes Pro, and it would be worth the money.

My photos display great, mp3's are cool, I added some webcams of my own, etc. mpeg videos play good, avi's seem stretched out of the box a bit.. will work on it.

I configured the weather plugin for my location (in Canada). The radar shows a full country though.. and my location is under the text of another city name label.

As it happens, I have an app I wrote that scrapes the current radar image from the local radar site page. The program then makes the earth map transparent and sets it up for use in googleearth.. but I can edit the app to just grab the radar image with background map for use with GBPVR.

I can start the radar image grabbing exe via the custom tasks in GBPVR.. but how would I go about displaying it out to the MVP ?

Is there some simple dll call I could use ? The only 'programming' language I use is Autohotkey (http://autohotkey.com). It can call dll's if you know the parameters etc.

Thanks for any tips on this.

GBPVR doesnt work with my onboard video?
Posted by: curt1s - 2009-06-29, 11:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Hello,

I recently got this motherboard from newegg.com:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813135063

It has onboard video:

Onboard Video Chipset Intel GMA 3100

I tried VMR9 and it did not work, got an error. I switched to Overlay Manager and the window comes up, but nothing in it. Is there anything I can do to use GBPVR with this motehrboard?

Thanks!

  Very simple question
Posted by: adm1jtg - 2009-06-29, 09:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I am upgrading my GPPVR box and the simple question is this:

Is there any benefit to running a dedicated GBPVR box on a 64 bit operating system vs a 32 bit operating system?

Thanks

  New version of StartPVRX2: v2.0.0
Posted by: liteswap - 2009-06-29, 06:19 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (6)

New in version 2.0.0 is the option to monitor the GB-PVR Recording Service.

Why? I've found that occasionally the service fails and if you don't notice, you lose recordings. This new feature fixes that - but if you don't want it, you can disable it - it's enabled by default.

Also, the program is now better at monitoring if the Config app is running and, if it is, it won't give PVRX2 focus until Config quits.

For downloads, check my sig.

Comments welcome.

W7 50% off worth it with GBPVR?
Posted by: gkreis - 2009-06-29, 05:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I was mildly tempted by the 50% off deal from MS (they sound desperate, don't they ;-). I am guessing, though, that there will be 'issues' (digital rights, filters, drivers, etc.) so I am leaning on staying with XP Home for GBPVR.

Can anyone think of why W7 would be a much superior platform for GBPVR, perhaps in the future? Will there be things coming that only can work in W7?
