  Vista x64 + 5gig Ram = pvr150 problem?
Posted by: andrew_macaluso - 2009-01-28, 02:17 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I just did a much needed processor, ram, mobo upgrade only to find out that I may have screwed myself. As I have come to understand it the Hauppauge PVR-150 cannot work on a system with more than 4 gigs of RAM. I looked through some old posts and nobody else seems to offer a whole lot of insight.

I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this and maybe could offer some advice?

If not, what is another good, cheap card that will let me use Vista x64 with 4+ gigs of ram?

  Hauppauge remote mapping question
Posted by: gazoo - 2009-01-28, 01:34 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

I know I should know better but I've gotten lazy in my searching..

Ok here it goes, how do I map a key to the aspect ratio (F7) key using only the hauppauge config (ie, no HIP or anything like that)?

My server only has hauppauge remote (my client is running event ghost, so that one was easy), and I really don't want to add anything else to it if I can help it.

  Loud Commercials
Posted by: soccerdad - 2009-01-28, 12:01 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

On my HD QAM recordings the commercials sound normal on my server but sometimes are VERY loud on my client. I have tried all the audio codecs, and am using the same ones on both the server and the client. Has anyone had to deal with this in the past? It is like they are coded differently and the client somehow processes them louder.

I know the solution is to get comskip dialed in for HD, but only have it about half way there.

  TS Transcode for MVP
Posted by: Bobins - 2009-01-27, 10:58 PM - Forum: ZTools and UltraXMLTV - Replies (38)

I've been trying to setup a new GBPVR server (on Vista) with a dual satellite tuner. I can watch, record and playback HD & SD TS channels on my PC fine but fail miserably on the MVP.

There appear to be a few bugs in GBPVR's Config.xml preventing TS to MPEG transcoding from working (automatic or manual). I've applied a few tweaks suggested in other threads but still can't get things right.

"On the fly" transcode of a recorded SD TS file gives a good picture & audio.....just never in sync.
"On the fly" transcode of a Live SD TV (TS file) starts playback but then fails. Increasing the pre-delay improves the time before dropout but only by 1-2 seconds. Get to 7500ms delay and the mvp disconnects.

Playing a manually transcoded SD TS file works fine

Any attempt to watch Live HD TV, a HD recording or a transcoded HD TS file fails.

Question. Would the prerelease ZProcess allow me to transcode TS files "on the fly" to watch on the MVP (both HD and SD)? If so, what specific transcode engines do I need (Mencoder, FFMPEG, VLC etc?).

Any advice appreciated

  ATSC and QAM same cable...
Posted by: zehd - 2009-01-27, 10:53 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

I was wondering before I started...

I just found an ATSC channel in my city. Previously I found a couple of QAM channels from my Cable

My TV has one coax input, but it can handle either an antenna or a Coax cable connection. So it makes me think, is it possible to have Cable and an Antenna on the same coax, feeding the TV...

Later I want to do this with my HVR1600...

  ConnectPins Failed!
Posted by: Paseo92 - 2009-01-27, 09:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hello,

Complete Noob here so please bear with me...

I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 2006 AGP TV Tuner card. ATI has stopped supporting Gemstar Guideplus so I am looking for an alternative program to schedule recordings, etc. Also, MMC does not work well on my computer. Had to downgrade to MMC 9.06.1 to even get it to work...

Anyway, I installed GB-PVR and my card wasn't on the list. I ran the filter check and created the card myself in the direct.ini file. Now I am getting a ConnectPins Failed error when running the tuning assistant:

Failed to connect pinNameCrossbarAudioDecoderOut to pinNameCaptureAnalogAudioIn.

It does skip this and finishes tuning the channels. However, under PVRX2 I am unable to watch live TV. It shows the channel name and synopsis of what is on, but no picture.

I am attaching my filtercheck.log file. I currently have CrossbarAudioDecoderOut=Audio Decoder Out and CaptureAnalogAudioIn=Audio In

Anything you can do to help would be great! Thanks!

XP v XP MCE and DVR-MS
Posted by: StevHodge - 2009-01-27, 08:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

This is an idiots question but I hope someone can help. My GB-PVR machine runs under XP Media Center Edition. It records digital TV in DVR-MS format which I immediately transcode into MPEG2, for maximum compatibility and because I had dreadful problems playing DVR-MS over my Hauppauge MVP devices. What is driving me mad though is that the timing goes all wrong after transcoding so that skipping forward and backward is something between unreliable and hopeless.
My question is this: would it be any better if it ran under XP-SP3, ie could I then record straight to MPEG2?? I have an unused XP installation disk so could re-install with just a few hours work. Is DVR-MS a function of the operating system or the tuner card?? From various posts it sounds as though it may be the MCE operating system that insists on DVR-MS, but my analogue card also running under XP-MCE records in MPEG2 just fine, and gives no timing problems
The digital tuner card is a Hauppauge Nova DB Dual DVB-T, the analogue card is a Hauppauge winTV PVR. I am not really worried about video quality issues - MPEG2 is fine with me

  Zprocess and 1.3.11
Posted by: grits - 2009-01-27, 06:53 PM - Forum: ZTools and UltraXMLTV - Replies (8)

I can't get Zprocess/Ztranscode working since the upgrade to 1.3.11. I've tried the last stable, and the pre-release. I've toggled to "interact with desktop" off and on again. I'm currently testing zprocess 2.0.341 and ztranscode 2.1.301 with an avi file. It doesn't work on the pc or the MVP. Could you list a step by step of completely removing and then reinstalling the latest version? Thanks.

  Recurring recording problem
Posted by: beav_35 - 2009-01-27, 06:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi,

I set a recurring recording for House last night using "all in this weekly time slot, this channel." In the time slot for next week it picked up the proper show but it also got two other shows at 1 and 2 AM earlier that day. I don't know why it is getting these shows even though they aren't within 4 hours of the normal time. In the config I have my <AllowableTimeslotVariance> set to 240.
