Through out the years with my assorted MVPs, I've put up with a lot. I've read that many people see so many anomalies in picture quality (Too dark, too red) and I've even read of and experienced a sort of zoom of the picture, where the picture sides get cut off a bit and the picture is distorted.
I know many have had trouble with blurry text, almost a doubling of text that's shadowing itself.
Well when I get that and try to power cycle I have to try maybe ten times until I get the right picture and dimensions and text... I get this on maybe 5 different versions of the MVP...
Is there some sort of voodoo that I can do? Stand on my head, stick the mvp in the freezer for 2 hours, a hammer?
I know that the MVP is not necessarily high quality components... I'll have to be going PCH or a PC client if I want 'great' picture... but most of the time, I can get a decent picture on the MVP. Just when it trips up, it's like forever to get it back again...
Now if i can get a irblaster.exe. there is no exe produced after installing ir blaster from the cd, just blaster config which works. but no blaster exe to point to from GBPVR. I get the same thing from the Hauppauge site. Anybody have the same trouble with this HDPVR driver suite. It's the same ver 1.053 from the cd as the support at Hauppauge. I can't find previous versions of the drivers!
I just bought this hdpvr monday and been going through all the posts and nothing relating to the exe not being created during install.
Just a few more things to iron out to get it working good.
Any one have the option in the config app of GBPVR, mine doesn't. neither does it with the hvr1600.
I just tried to delete a test recording, but there's no option button in slick skin, same thing in video folder.
GBPVR 1.3.7 w/HDPVR, I haven't tried the default blue skin yet. It will have to wait till the wife is finished watching her recorded shows later tonight.
Did I miss something setting it up in config?
Im getting an error setting up me device inn GBPVR that it cant start the device?
Edit: I figured out the problem. It dident like the new transponder file i updates. just removed some letters in the file and it worked great not.
And another rhing. Does GBPVR have support for DVB-S2?
I apologise if I'm being stupid here, but I can't seem to find where you select or customise the recording quality. It's available through the web admin but not in PVRX2 where I'm sure it used to be.
Also, is it even being used? When I recorded a sample through the web admin at both medium and high quality the bitrates were reported by MediaInfo as:
Medium: 4,223 Kbps
High: 4,221 Kbps
Which roughly ties up with ffdshow's OSD output when playing live TV.
I'm recording UK Freeview (DVB-T) and want to output live TV / recordings at the highest quality setting before running it through ffdshow to upscale and de-interlace etc.
I'm starting to understand all the components, but I'm wondering if I have it all straight.
HD HomeRun provides two networked ATSC tuners.
GBPVR can manage/record content from those ATSC tuners, storing the data on my local or networked hard drive. My PC is in the den. HDTV is in the living room.
A Popcorn Hour (I think I'd be happy with an A100), would allow me to view the content recorded on my TV in the den.
As a bonus, I could get the PCH to connect to netflix (already a subscriber) etc for on-line content.
A) Do I have that all right?
B) If I'm just viewing recorded TV via PCH, do I need a GBPVR remote in the living room?
C) I have an external HD receiver in the living room. If I wanted to use that receiver in another room, could I watch live TV through the HDHR, GBPVR and PCH setup? I'm assuming I'd need a GBPVR remote for that.
Where do I find the brightness/contrast/saturation/hue/sharpness settings within either the GBPVR application or the registry.
Reason I ask is the default settings for the Hauppauge WinTV USB2 unit that I use are not good. The only way I can change them is to open the device with media player classic (im sure other apps would do just as well) and open the filter properties for the USB TV unit and change brightness, contrast etc. , I can then get the picture to my liking. However, the changes are not permanent !!
How are you guys adjusting brightness etc with GBPVR.
I can't figure out how to get my RWII working. I tried using HIP to map the keys but when it was time to program the buttons, it wouldn't recognize when one was being pressed. I guess I don't even know if the remote itself works. I downloaded the newest drivers, v3.4 I think, but they display as 2.0.0 so something is weird there too. How can I figure out if the remote is working, and is HIP the best thing to use, or should I try EventGhost or something else?
set something to record tonight between 9-10 and i saw the red block on the tv guide earlier on..
now (9:20) the recording isn't in pending and the red block has gone from the tv guide but if i try and watch something with that particular tuner, it says it isn't available (recording service status is sleeping on all my tuners..)
