I downloaded GB-PVR in hopes of getting free PVR solution, but I live in Canada and noticed that the XMLTV asks for Schedules Direct membership which is not free. Are there no free EPG downloads available that can be used for GB-PVR?
I'm going to get a new Tuner Card today. Here are my options (If they are in stock). Please let me know which one(s) will work for watching regular cable (78 channels) - and Clear QAM Channels. and will allow me to record. I currently have the PCTV HD Pro Stick 801e but it dosen't have the necessary hardware MPEG encoder. Will any of the following allow me to use GBPVR to it's potential?
Also, I might play with QAM in Media Center also - will it work?
I prefer a USB device but not required.

Is the TerraTec Cinergy HTC USB XS HD supported by gbpvr? Is anyone using it?
Or does anyone know of a better device for receiving hdtv by cable or from a tv-box (I'm in Norway and has cable from Canaldigital).
I had understood that with the NZ Freeview DVB-T broadcast it only transmits the EPG 2 hours in advance (unlike DVB-S which is a week)? This is why we need an external (internet) source to get an EPG of reasonable length?
Anyway, today I've just plugged in a new TV (Sony Z-series, and boy oh boy is it good, cannot get the grin off my face... errr I digress) - it has freeview built in and when I look at the EPG I can skip to the next week. The TV is picking up terrestrial.
So the EPG data IS all there... did I misunderstand something about gbpvr, DVB-T and EPG?
Hi on mdapi (with the patched recording service for no multirecord on encyrypted) and patch nativeutilities for no mdapi on non encrypted. Multirecord is turned off (still getting that scheduled tv3 issue).
Finding that when watching live tv (E!), and a scheduled recording, either on E! or somewhere else, pvrx2 will just lock on a blank screen.
I originally had this problem back when X2 came out, but couldnt figure it out so stayed with 1.x
Now that I have a new system and the new interface looks mint, I thought I'd give it another go - unfortunately I still have the same problem.
Config: PVRX2 1.3.7 - Athlon64 X2, ATI HD3200 (Integrated) and a PVR150MCE
If I use any MPEG2 decoder other than MainConcept, when watching LiveTV the video gets slower until it starts jerking around and the sound skips. I have tried a few others but they all gave the same results. If I switch from one of these decoders to MainConcept without a reboot, the problem remains (until I reboot). This was also a problem for me on my old PVR 1.x install but it seemed to work fine with the MainConcept decoder so I lived with it.
I tried out a recording tonight (Cars movie on TV2), and while it recorded fine, I was unable to play it back in PVRX2. I tested in Media Player and its fine, if I change to another MPEG2 decoder it plays fine - just not with the MainConcept MPEG2 decoder. I don't know which decoder Media Player selected to play it.
Since there is a very eclectic group of people here, I figured some people must have experiance with Editing Video Files.
I've recently purchased a camcorder (Santa delivered a Panasonic HDC-SD9).
It's AVCHD, which means it's really new, and not alot of programs support it, (or support it really well)
What's a solid program to edit video with. (Basic Home Video stuff, Baby crawling around, Family stuff.) I don't mind spending up to $150 bucks, But I don't want to move into full bore Editing packages. (AVVID editing stations anyone?)
I'm looking at Adobe Premiere Elements. I'm running the 30 day trial, and so far it seems good. I've got to crank out a video longer than 2minutes to really stress test it, though, as I've already managed to crash it twice. Once because the program does not deal with Unformated DVD-RW discs. The second time was an unspecified encoding error, but I think my page file was too small. Bumped it 4Gigs and it was fine.
I got a free trial to Pinnical 12, but I've seen various reviews that lead me to believe it's clunky, and not much more stable than Adobe.
So what else is out there? Anything from the open source camp? (I use GIMP quite a bit)
I have Silicondust HD HomeRun installed with my digital antenna picking up all my channels. When I schedule a program to be recorded, a directory and file is created, but the file is empty.
I'm running Vista with the default c:\temp directory for stored files. I've attached the recording service log.
Since my pvr150 board won't work with vista 64, I need to find a way to control my new client. I have it working with a BTC rf keyboard for the moment, but I would like to use my Harmony IR control if possible. From what I read, I can get a MCE remote with IR dongle, or usb uirt, but these seem like more than I need. It is cheap and if it controls media center, it might control gbpvr for basic functions. I am looking to do basic navigation,and start, stop, pause and select. My thought is that I could train the Harmony to the codes. If it won't control gbpvr out of the box, then I suspect I would have issues with mapping it.
Has anyone played with something like this for gbpvr or ??? Other cheap/easy ideas are welcome. Again, I just want to use my harmony to control my client.
