I noticed tonight that my program guide info was running out tomorrow night.

I checked, my UpdateEPG.bat is in place and looks OK.

I went to system and hit updage epg and it did it's thing and now my guide is populated.

Any ideas why it evidently isn't doing the update automatically? I have it set in the config program to run at 3am every night.

Completely new to the whole GBPVR scene, so please excuse any noobiesque. I've been running the latest version of GBPVR for about 3 weeks and it's been operating absolutely flawlessly, until the other night.

For some reason it stopped recording some of the shows that my wife had scheduled. So, to make a long story short, rebooted & cleared all scheduled shows, and everything seems good until she tried to schedule something for 22:00 to 23:00, for it's day, for the rest of the season.

Normally, the "red" recording scheduled indicator, in the preview guide would show, now it doesn't and occasionally when viewing the recording schedule, it shows that channel being configured to record for 4 hours, instead of the one hour that she specified...

Now, if she does a quick record, the show records perfectly, at the specified time.

Any ideas off the cuff, before I start sending logs? I'm on business travel and I shudder at the thought of talking her through the log collection process, as she's very impatient and intimidated by this setup...

Over the past couple of months I have been finding that time spent on mvpmcx2 for the PCH has not been all that rewarding. Instead it has become "work" and not the fun "hobby" that I once enjoyed. When I read posts from users asking if they should they get a PCH the response is lackluster at best, often tending to support getting an MVP instead. I am not complaining, I am really glad people provide honest feedback, but it is still can be disheartening.

On the NMT forums at times I feel I am the only one who even thinks GBPVR is a good choice and maybe that is the bigger sting. I shake my heed when I see that people use other PC server solutions given how much GBPVR offers. It is a bit odd too because NMT users who aren't also GBPVR users also seem to really think the have a pretty media extender, and the critics tend to agree.

Over the last couple of days my frustration limit has really been reached. On one hand I am reading all the excitement on the SageTV forums about their new extender which looks to be just basic Sigma SMP8634 hardware like the A100 with fewer software features but with SageTV support. STV users loved their old extender even with inferior hardware and I'm sure they will continue with this new model.

On the other hand here, many users generally ignore the PCH as a solution, or ultimately want a PC solution or worse (at least for me) ask for some other solution. I'm guessing the opinion is the PCH is too expensive, many of you want a really cheap solution (since if you don't need HD or BluRay 1080p. quality audio etc it is a luxury) or you want a much better solution. I think I really misunderstood the value of comskip, every time I think I have made progress, it is always "What about comskip?"

I therefore have decided to back way off on support for GBPVR, until I can offer you more functionality especially comskip, so no more videos or progress reports they take too much time. I'm not going to be idle, I will be using the information I have from Syabas to revitalize mvpmc for the PCH (MythTV, slimserver) and as I did with mvpmc for the MVP I used the best to create "emulation mode". I really do need some time to rewrite the native internet radio code so it will work as well for me as it does with mvpmc, I still haven't replaced my MVP on the stereo and I have three PCH's!

Of course I will continue to ensure that mvpmcx2 works with new NMT firmware releases. This particular A100 firmware beta cycle has been grueling too (beta 1 broke telnet, beta 2 broke live tv etc) and so that process isn't really satisfying either. I won't be gone, but I will be really try to respond to posts in the two mvpmc forums.

Also if sub wants to fully support resume on the PCH that will be offered in the next firmware release that is great and I will make all the necessary changes otherwise you will get resume on the last file like all the other PCH users. If similar opportunities for improvement come up I will present them too.

I have been using yapi2xml but, like others, I now get runtime error 13 so I tried to switch to mc2xml. I followed the instructions at the mc2xml Web site and mc2xml runs and creates a 20mb XML file.

I ran GB-PVR config and changed the EPG path to the xmltv.xml file created by mc2xml. Finally I clicked the Update EPG button and got the expected progress messages indicating that the xmltv files was being read and the program file was being written. Next, clicked OK buttons until the config program closed. When I open PVRX2 and click TV Guide every time slot contains (no show details).

I am doing something wrong but I cannot tell what. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If you searched my posts in the past, you'd read of my troubles trying to get a DVR solution working for my Analog cable.

Long story short, I got it working pretty well and have been happy with it for the past few months. Some time passes and I catch the Black Friday bug and got the chance to get a great deal on a 32" LCD. It arrived today. I hooked it up to my current DVR rig (PVR-USB2 thru a 2.4ghz laptop - > svideo -> coax) and was less than impressed. I decided to eliminate the DVR out of the equation and went straight from the wall to the TV. Did a scan and couldnt believe my luck...

I must have picked up 25 or so digital channels. Beautiful HD video glistened across my screen. My smile grew. My cheap, basic analog cable is getting this awesome picture? It's almost hard for me to believe. There's only ONE problem...

In the past few months I've become addicted to EPG. I can live without recording capabilities, but not having an EPG is really inconvenient.

Technically, I could keep the laptop running into the TV via S-VIDEO and keep the actual cable signal through coax; changing inputs to navigate between the guide and the actual programming. However, thats obviously a messy solution. Anyone have any ideas? From what I've read, I could go ahead and get a HD HomeRun, but Im not certain my laptop can handle HD.. plus, I'd have to get an external video card, as my current video card only has S-VIDEO Out (which seemingly sucks to my TV).

Any guidance is appreciated!

After upgrading to 10307 PVRX2 hangs in live TV after a few seconds of video have played (PVRX2 has encountered a problem and needs to close... . Live TV continues to play for about 10 more seconds while the error message displays, then video freezes with the message "No signal detected..." This occurs with both my SD and HD tuners.
-Windows reports a .NET application error (log included)
-PVRX2.exe log reports "Unable to find requested skin image: TV Guide\task.png" (I am using the default blue skin) and "Unable to find brush node: /settings/NamedColors/NamedColor[@name="SignalStrengthGraph"]

All logs are attached. Any help appreciated.

can anyone offer any advice on 2 minor problems i am having with gbpvr:

the first is internet activity interrupting video and audio whilst watching live tv. for example if my antivirus does an auto update or i go onto yahoo home page with all the little animations etc the livetv is disrupted - is this a problem the way data is streamed on the motherboard or a problem with graphic card? any solutions would be appreciated.

the other is quite minor and i suspect the geforce 5600 is not man enough, whilst watching live tv the screen can break down into many thin horizontal lines especially with a lot of movement in the video stream.



any solutions or advice would be appreciated, many thanks.

has anyone got this hybrid pci-e card working with gbpvr? I was hoping to get BBC HD working??

The card seems to get detected as a blackgold card (showing the dvb-s and dbv-t as seperate devices), is this good or bad? Anyway as soon as I Do a scan using various included examples (not sure about all the settings!) It doesnt find anything.

If you've been holding off purchasing AnyDVD or AnyDVD HD, now would be a good time to do it. They are doing away with there free lifetime updates and moving to an annual subscription plan. All purchases made before the change will continue to receive the free lifetime updates.

Having problems with PVRX's TV Guide. “No Show Details” is being displayed.

In config.exe (for each of the two SiliconDust tuners) use EPG Source: XMLTV Plugin and set to C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\EPG\xmltv.xml- > Empty EPG -> Update EPG.

Start PVRX -> System- >Update EPG-> “ reads in updated XML file”
Goto TV Guide -> “No Show Details” is displayed.

I can watch TV but no EPG functionality.

Any suggestions? Attached is the config.exe.log for review.
