Since I've had problems wtih Schedules Direct and getting my 2250 working with QAM, I've noticed that my PVR500's analog mpeg files are smaller. I have them set at 9000 bitrate and record everything at that rate so that I can burn to dvd but the last few nights, my 1 hour shows are under 3GB when they are usually 4gb's. The only setting I've changed shouldn't make any difference is the BDA multiplexer from dvr-ms to TS mux......something I'm sure I've had previously.
The files play just fine and I can't find anything wrong with them other than the file size and the full time of the files is also correct.
I don't know where else to ask or post... I have an LG dvd drive. It has no problem playing commercial DVDs and even DVD-R, but is stubborn and stuck on trying to read DVD+R. Problem is that most of the stuff I have (homevideos) are on DVD+R... any suggestions?
Just wondering if it is just my PC or not. MY PVRX2 crashed
a few times in a day and got frozen other times.
For example, when watching live tv (preview on, no recording), if
I keep changing channel quickly on the remote, it will be very likely
frozen (for ever). One time, it got out of live tv to the main manual. Then I couldn't
get into the live tv anymore until I quicked PVRX2 and restarted it.
I am recently having a problem after upgrading and reinstalling some software.
that gbpvr is recording my episodes about 15 minutes early or so...
Example. I keep "House" on my must watch lists... I got home late today...
and besides the fact, it started 15 minutes early, which means it didn't record the last 15 minutes... I guess this episode was 9 minutes longer or so...
it also only recorded the original 60 minutes and not the entire new advertised 69 minute length...
So I am missing about 20 minutes of the ending of this latest show...
and it isn't the first one that was like this... And as soon as it was over. I verified the clock on the computer (gbpvr) and my wall clock was set the same... and wanted to verify that before submitting this...
(I prior had issues on getting my PC to keep good time, but set it up to frequently update the time using a 3rd party software running in the background).
OK - I have only set up one QAM and one Analog tuner. If I have been watching a show on QAM, and have a QAM recording that starts, it exits from LiveTV (probably because it only has one QAM tuner) but shouldn't it change to the recording channel? Problem now, when I try to fire up LiveTV, it tries to open back to the QAM channel I was watching, and it won't open.
What is it SUPPOSED to do here? I would think, change to the show that is recording.
First, I’ve been trolling GBPVR forums and the website (obviously down for now) for some time now out of curiosity. GBPVR has always come across as an extremely competent PVR but I have always taken different approaches to my HTPCing software for no real apparent reason.
I have a situation now, which will allow me to take GBPVR “out for a spin”. I am currently using Vista VMC in my living room entertainment system but because of the lack of H.264 support I cannot record any HD (albeit somewhat compressed) programs from my DirecTV STB. As a result I’m am going to bid adieu to VMC in short order and either return to SageTV or maybe GBPVR so that I can record my programs in glorious (compressed) HD.
Rather than totally submerse myself in a VMC replacement in the living room (and risk a plummeting WAF) a situation has arisen which is the perfect vehicle to allow me take a good look at GB without leaving a permanent mark on my person. In the past whenever the missus and I had competing programs showing at the same time, one of us would retreat to the guest bedroom where another DTV receiver/TV is available to resolve the conflict but now I have another locale that would provide a more comfortable setting for me as opposed to the guest room.
If you’re still with me, here’s the crux of the post…
I plan to run coax cable from one of the spare LNBs on my satellite dish to my office and have DTV activate on of my spare SD STBs so that I can watch TV on my PC’s 22” monitor. My choice of STBs is an old (and still functioning flawlessly) Hughes model HIRD E1 or a DirecTV D11-300 I’ve never used.
My quandary is over the control of the STB in my office. I don’t particularly care to rig up some sort of blaster when the Hughes has a low speed data port (RJ11) and the D11 has a USB port. After performing a search on these forums for more information on the topic it appears at this early juncture that the best way to go would be with the old Hughes STB because of the simpler RJ11 to DB9 connection. My search may not have been as thorough as I would have liked so I might have missed some salient points. Any advice from the forums would be greatly appreciated, as I will be converting the office PC to a quasi-HTPC in short order.
Which way should I proceed? Use the box with the RJ11 data port or the USB port?
Oh, BTW, I am planning on using something like a cheap Hauppauge HVR-1250 to serve as my tuner card on a rig with the following specs:
AMD A64 X2 S939 4200+ CPU
2GB (4 X 512MB) RAM
nVidia 9600GT video card
2 X 250GB HDD
I recently purchased and installed an HVR-1800 card since I (finally!) realized I was getting ClearQAM channels from Comcast. I'm an old hand at the analog side of things, so no setup issues there at all. I had quite a few issues with the digital side of things, though, most of which I have worked out.
Some background: I have the latest version of GBPVR (1.3.7) installed. I have an Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor with 2G of RAM. I'm using the on-board video (yeah, I know...) which is the Nvidia Quadro NVS 210S (basically, the 6150LE) chipset.
I know the video chipset is weak, but before you say anything, I did install WinTV 6 (not real fond of it :-)) and was able to detect and play all the HD channels without any issues. Signal was great, tuning was great, playback was very reasonable.
So - on to what I'm seeing with GBPVR. I had some issues at first with the channel scan, which after twisting some knobs and pushing some buttons (read as - I don't know what the heck I did to fix it), went away and GBPVR found all the stations. Next, I had some issues with the live preview window, which I finally attributed to the decoders I was using (I think). Once that was solved, *all* the channels showed up in the preview window - no problems. Great! I ran through all my channel mapping with the EPG data and was ready to go.
I finalized the config, dropped over to the TV Guide menu and selected one of the HD channels to view. Nothing. No video, no sound. Didn't make sense to me since the preview window was showing everything fine. Then I realized if I changed the channel up or down (up-arrow or down-arrow), the channels would come in, even the channel that was chosen from the TV Guide. This works (or doesn't work, depending on how you look at it) consistently, regardless of the channel chosen. Once I select a channel from the TV Guide, it does not seem to tune??? (no video, no audio) But as soon as I channel up or down, the tuning request to the new channel seems to work just fine. Very confusing.
Anyway, I have zipped and attached the logs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Any by the way - GBPVR is the best. (When you have to mess around with WinTV, you realize how great a program GBPVR really is.)
I'd like to see the livetv buffer limit reduced. I think in 1.3.7 this was uped to 2000ms and it was working nicely for me at 500ms. If I change it manually via config.xml I assume it works as before but I get an error loading with config.exe
