I'm considering the purchase of a DVB-S card. I see the Twinhan 1020a is well supported. I've only got one more PCI slot in my PC, and wonder if there is a PCIe card that is comparable that I should consider. I have several PCIe X1 slots and a PCIe X16 slot open. My only other PCI slot has a HVR-1600 in it for QAM, and there isn't lots of room next to it. Any suggestions or recommendations before I buy?
Iâm new to gbpvr and was recently recommended it by a friend. Using the link in the latest announcements thread I downloaded the latest version, the problem is it wonât install, when I run it I get the following message:
âThis installation package could not be opened. Contact the vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows installer package"
Iâve done some trouble shooting but canât solve it, Iâve updated to the latest version of installer and made sure itâs running, installed .net 3.5, installed Microsoft run time from the link.
Iâm running Windows Vista premium and have no previous versions of gbpvr installed.
I really want to install it to run with my Hauppauge MVP. Am I missing something? Any ideas?
Ok I've been trying to get an MVP reliable for Live TV in another room in the house but with digital sources I have been finding it a bit buggy, lots of lock ups so I have been considering options (I should add SD content only for now):
1/ Keep trying the MVP, get a better aerial etc....
2/ A Popcorn...any more reliable with digital live TV????
3/ An Atom ITX board, £50 + case + Power Supply and everything esle is spare lying around stuff.
I am liking the Atom idea for flexibility but thats cos I'm an eternal tinkerer, only problem is most Atom stuff doesnt have HDMI for future proofness.
I'm thinking Atom board booting off a 16Gb USB stick with windows 2000 on....thoughts?
just want to ask for the best mdapi version. Iv try'd different versions, but none satisfying. Either glitches (older versions) or one crash per day (2.1/2.2).
Wich versions out there, best results ?

I've been setting up Freeview|HD over the last couple of days and have a HVR-1200 DVB-T card. I have followed the instructions in configuring non-listed Tuner Cards and found that the settings are the same as the HVR OEM 885, but using DVB-T as the type of transmission. Editing the bda.ini file was fairly easy, but thought I'd post this here so that it could be added to the next release.
However, I do have a problem. I'm using CoreAVC as the H.264 decoder (at $15 US it's cheaper than Power DVD and works very well under Media Portal). The preview in the GBPVR config application works ok, but TV won't start in PVRX2. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem?
for some reasons i disabled auto epg update on the server and start it manually from mediaMVP several times a week now. (which is ok since i moved from 4-days sat-epg to 14-days xmltv epg; thanks to alibert btw )
however, from client-pc epg-update is not working correctly here on my system, i.e. it looks like the client is trying to make use of it's own epg-source (which may be installed or not) and fill only it's database instead of the one from the server. what am i missing here?
hello, i have problems with scanning channels using this card. bda.ini is fine, i have latest drivers and the program recognizes this card as avermedia speedy.
the card does raise signal and quality meters but then just ends scanning saying there are no channels found. other programs like dvbviewer and meedios found the channles just fine..
hope someone can help me figure this out coz i'm stuck
I have a Hauppauge PVR-150 card and am thinking about buying a ATI TV wonder card from someone online for a cheap price. Will there be any problems with using 2 different brands of capture cards with gbpvr?
Maybe it's possible to use the channel tab to select an icon for a channel. Because my xmltv file is overridden and my icon's a are gone or i have icons of the wrong channel in place.
