I have read a few old threads on this but don't know what the solution is.

What I am seeing is that if I timeshift live TV, that is I pause for 10 mins for example the phone rings, then I resume, and then at the commercials I skip forward.

Now what I see sometimes when skipping or resuming is that the video is running in fast speed, maybe 3 times, the sound is playing ok, then if I skip forward or back it will sort itself out sometimes.

Is there any fix for this?

I must be missing something obvious. I am using 2.1 and whenever I try to add a pth for the ROMS i get the error "Directory is not empty"
Any ideas?

I have just set up the GB-PVR -> PCH streaming and this is my experiance. Firstly though I would really like to congratulate Mvallevand and Sub for a truly fantastic job! Great work guys!

1) I followed the installation and survival guide to the letter.
2) I have a CRT PAL 16:9 TV so I set -m pal and corresponding width and height in config.xml
3) I have telnet connection Ok.
4) I started the GB-PVR client on the PCH. First time perfect result! No problems at all.

The I started fiddling a little with config.xml and the command line options.
Then I got the black screen problem. The client does not display a picture, so I havet to reboot the PCH for every try.

So I tried to reset every change I had done, even downloading all script files and client again and reinstall them. No luck.
Then I tried to telnet the PCH and start the mvpmcx2 client manually to see what is going on. And then - instant success!! The client started without problems. And then I could easily start GB-PVR from PCH the normal way again. Until reboot of the PCH - back to black screen problem AGAIN.
I am really at a loss here. What is going on?
When I start the client manually the first time and then skip out to the telnet.html page I can start GB-PVR fine, but not from a fresh reboot.
The command line options are the same from manual start as from scripted start.

Really strange IMHO...

I have S-video hooked up and I have also created a SCART cable (as described in a HOW-TO on NMT forums). Both are hooked up and producing video fine - when it is functioning properly. I Think the Video settings are Component PAL + SCART On from PCH config. That seemed to produce the best picture.

I have decided to checkout "streaming" to a client and have had mixed results.

As I use wireless for streaming, I am accept the very occassional dropped video frame, but what I cant understand is the latency in the GBPVR GUI on the streaming client. This is particular evident when I attempt to do something that updates the database (eg. added a show to recorded list). Under these circumstances it not unusual to get not responding message until it decides to return to life.

Before everyone jumps in the comment; "because it's wireless!:eek:" I should mention that I use the same wireless link for filesharing and streaming video and I have no such problems with responsiveness/latency.

Is there a tweak to improve responsiveness?

Any help would be aprreciated.

PS. someone mentioned you can increase the buffer , if so how and will it help this situation?

I have my HVR-4000 setup just as I want, but now want to add my PVR-150 as a second capture source. The card is currently working in media centre.

When using tuning assistant, the preview screen is grey, yet when I select HVR-4000 (analogue) i can preview the channels.

I'm a completely newbie here but I recently installed 1.2.9 on my XP system with a hauppauge 1600 hybrid tuner card. It was working fine until I tried to add on the community skin and the skin plugin. Now, everything works, but when I try and playback recorded video it goes to black for 5 seconds and then just returns to the recorded items screen. The recorded stuff plays fine directly thru Windows Media Player. I've tried all the codecs in the system and I'm stumped what do do.

Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, how I can I fix it?

Going through a major rebuild!

running 1.2.9 Release on an MCE 2005 based O/S.

Have set up STB successfully as 1 capture source.

I have 2 x DVB-S capture cards available, 1 FiredTV, other Hauppauge Nova-S +

Initially, after success with the STB, I installed the FiredTV device. Everytime I tried mapping channels GBPVR Config hung. Giving a .NET problem.

I thought it may be a driver problem and so have spent the last 3 days installing-re-installing etc

Then I thought if was a problem with the FiredTV device I'd try installing the Nova-S as a capture source. Voila same problem, hangs on identical issue, strangely enough when it hits the 'God Channel', does this mean me and God have no chance?

I seem to have a problem recording from the Dish box. The problem is, the box goes into standby after a set period of time. Now this has been mentioned before, and the solution was to either disable the standby, or set a timer for 24 hours so it never goes to standby. Problem is, the box wants to update IT'S guide when it goes into standby. If it doesn't get to upgrade, it will get desperate and give you no choice. Whatever your doing it will interrupt and update which takes like 5 minutes. I don't want that happening in the middle of a recording.

What I would like is to be able to detect in some way when recording service starts, but before it sends the channel change command to the box. I could then program IR Server Suite to send the "enter" to the box to wake it. The enter command would have to go out a few seconds before the Channel change so the box is awake. I tried the recordingstatus.bat, but either I screwed up or it isn't fast enough. Can anyone help me with this little problem?

Strange issue,

I only have one ATSC tuner, so I know it's not one tuner watching and one recording issue. So I can go into one OTA ATSC channel and watch it just fine, but if I tell it to record, I just get snow.

Any ideas what might be going on here?

I just upgraded to 1.2.9. I can't tell you if this was the case before, because "Watch" didn't work before.

From what I can tell, this only happens on some channels, not all.

I was previously using GB-PVR 1.2.9 for QAM with my HVR-1800 with no problems, but after adding my OTA tuner I noticed my EPG was getting all screwey so I switched some things around etc (all the recomended fixes for using 2 muliple tuners and SD) and ended up eventually uninstalling and re-installing the GB-PVR. Every time I've re-installed (I've tried a few times now), I keep having the same problem: scanning and mapping works fine, but then I go into PVRX2 and I'll select a channel to watch from the guide and nothing happens. I tried fooling around with rendering settings, decoding settings etc and nothing changed. in GBPVR.EXE I get the following error: "input string was not in the correct format". I've attached my zipped logs. Any ideas what could be going wrong?
