I'm using hauppauge 1600. When I use GBPVR.exe(old), everything is OK. But when I use PVRX2, everyting was OK for about 5 seconds and then I lost sound. I'm attaching the log here. Could anyone help? Thanks you in advance.

With the trouble that seems to keep popping its head with Yahoo's TV service, what would be the difficulty in making an EPG that grabbed the data from Comcast? They offer full listings for all of their packages. I know it would only cover their packages, but that would be better than Yahoo for Comcast users.

This idea was prompted by Yahoo no longer carrying the Comcast package that I have.

my PCH arrived yesterday woo

i have had a bit of a read around on this forum particularly - including the quickstart stickied thread at the top of this forum

at the mo, i have a single MVP running on the network, its usign the MVPMC dongle, but other than that, i havent played at all with the MVPMC settings at all

there is alot of talk about config.xml etc, which tbh, i dont even kjnow where that might live, and expect it would be somewhere on my server if i had got MVPMc configured correctly with its shares etc ???

really looking forward to getting it set up, but dont want to chase my tail for hrs and hrs if i can possibly avoid it

i am assuming that i need to add another MVP autostart, if im having both the PCH/MVP on the network at the same time. ? btu that is about all i have managed to work out, and might be wrong

not sure if any of that is any use, but might 'set the scene' somewhat

have read the howtos from the MVPMC site, but wasnt sure if i needed to do all the DHCP etc type setup to get this working

another lamely worded post from me..

having some really annoying problems with liveTV at the mo on my MVP

I have a dual TV card (hauppage dvb 500 thingy) which most of the time works fine

but i am finding that recently
even though clearly one of the tuners is free, i try to watch tv, and it tells me that there are no free tuners.. - options it gives are - 'dont watch tv'
i am not recording at the time..

sometimes this happens after the TV playback getting a bit bogged down - i am guessing, cos i havent changed the channel in a awhile, and maybe disk space is getting a bti low.. dunno

so i end up having to restart the GBPVR recording service - which is a pain, as i have to rdp to the host/server pc that lives under the stairs...

trying to pick restart from the system menu is it, oin the GBPVR app, doesnt seem to do anything - altho im thinking this may just not be able to be done from the MVP..

also - another problem i have, is the transcoding of xvids/divxs is no longer working.. had it working fine, but now.. not working at all, just resets the box and pops back to the main GBPVR menu
i expect iuts a setting that i may have changed without meaning to. but definately still has the correct mux running, and the delay is set to the standard 5500, altho i had tried to increase this value with no success

OK - I've been playing with PVRX2 for a while and have quite a good setup. However there are a few minor things to improve it, for me at least!

1. When navigating a list - it would be great to press a letter key to go to the entries starting with that letter. eg, in the ready list I want to press "s" and it jump to "Simpsons".

2. Be able to mark items as watched or see some indication that I am part way through a recording.

3. When stopping watching a recording if the progress is near or at the end then give the option to move the recording to the video library.

4. Have the slideshow play avi files as well as the pictures. Most camera can take video clips and it would be great to see these in the slideshow or even any picture / video format.


That's it fairly simple user interface updates.

I have successfully wired up my PC using an ATI video card to a Samsung HD TV using a 1 metre HDMI cable and played back mpeg2 files using GBPVR.
I then tried a 5 metre cable obtained from Ebuyer and the picture drops out every 2 or 3 seconds. What I am trying to achieve is positioning the PC 8 metres from the TV to reduce the effect of PC noise when watching recorded material. The price of so called high quality ( 8 or 10 metres) cables is very high up to £150.

Has anyone managed to find a good quality HDMI to HDMI cable at a reasonable price.

I'm trying to mount a windows directory for my DVD's. Its location is D:\dvds and the share name is dvds. So I executed the following commands from telnet:

I've noticed when I watch an in-progress DVR-MS recording, as soon as the recording completes the very next pause or skip will start the video over at the beginning. At that point I can't skip forward into the video at all until I exit and resume. Each skip otherwise just restarts right at the beginning.

I can however simply exit and resume. It's just one of the those little annoying things that I wish would go away.
