  Update notification
Posted by: McBainUK - 2007-11-13, 01:41 PM - Forum: Community Skin - Replies (5)

As the Community Skin tends to have a number of minor updates, with tweaks and/or edits for new plugin or GB-PVR versions it would be nice to include some sort of update notification. My questions is what form should the notification take? These are my ideas below, feel free to comment or add your own.

  • SkinPlugin popup - same as the Weather plugin but not as suitable here because people tend to choose a skin/theme and then stick with it for a while.
  • Icon on the main menu screen and then a new option on the SkinPlugin to view the change log. The icon would have to small and unobtrusive.
  • A new Update plugin which will look for updates for GB-PVR, Community Skin 3 and, possibly, other plugins.

  100% sig strength; 0% quality; no video!
Posted by: dan_aka_jack - 2007-11-13, 01:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (28)

Hi there,

Yesterday, I installed GB-PVR 1.1.5. This is the first time I've used GB-PVR. When I try to watch live TV, GB-PVR reports:

"No Signal Detected. Please ensure that the antenna cable is connected or that the antenna signal is strong enough. Quality: 0%. Strength: 100%".

However, I know for a fact that the signal is fine. I live within a few miles of our local TV transmitter (Crystal Palace, London). Both MediaPortal and Terratec HomeCinema are able to show TV without issues. Even stranger, GB-PVR plays the channels fine whilst it's scanning for channels. GB-PVR finds all the FreeView channels during its scan.

Also, when I go to the TV guide, the guide lists no programs (but the channel names are correct). I have run the "update EPG" from the GB-PVR config menu. MediaPortal was able to grab the EPG from FreeView DVB-T without issue so the EPG is definitely being broadcast.

I have searched the forums and found that a few other people have had similar issues. I've tried several things, all to no avail:

* I've tried upgrading my TV tuner card to the latest, beta drivers
* I've tried various different decoder settings in the GB-PVR config menu
* I've tried changing the <BDADisableStatusChecks> option from "false" to "true" in config.xml
* I've tried re-installing GB-PVR several times.
* I've tried watching TV in MediaPortal first, closing MediaPortal and then watching TV in GB-PVR

My specs:

* WinXP32 SP2 (with NET2.0 and the 2005 Runtime update)
* GB-PVR 1.1.5
* Terratec 2400 dual-tuner PCIe DVB-T card
* Dual-core AMD processor
* 1GB RAM

Any hints would be really helpful!

I'll post some logs in a follow-up post...

Many thanks,
Jack

  Do I have the a pvr in the weirdest place?
Posted by: GM7RQk - 2007-11-13, 12:51 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (13)

In addition to using GBPVR at home, apretty boring setup, I was given a touch sensitive LCD display from a information kiosk and wondered what to do with it.

After a bit of measuring I discovered it fit really nice in here

Now since this is in my camper van
[Image: wide_shot.JPG]

I had to find something to run it, to keep the power down and run the whole thing off a battery I went for a mini-itx mother board installed with a pvr 150

  installer fried my database
Posted by: wannabepvr - 2007-11-13, 08:57 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Ok suspect I am on really shaky ground here.

The 1.15 installer fried my database and I lost all recording, tuner setups, channels. Ironically a few of my config.exe settings and directories were saved.

Probably my fault for being a MS-Access Luddite rather than migrating to SQlite. (bad man x1)

Yes I had done all my back-ups prior to install. But I hadn't really left heaps of time fix or restore while wife was out.

So I broke the golden rule and copied my old data base into the new release (bad man x2) But everything seems to be working. How much did the database format change from 1.016 to 1.15?

  Musiclibrary
Posted by: -=TJ=-Stefan - 2007-11-13, 08:30 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I would like the standard Musiclibrary play MP3 files in shuffle mode even if the MP3 files are in a subfolder.

So for instance I select the folder ROCK (under that folder are many folders like <artist>\<album>\*.MP3 and many more like that. Usually not deeper just <artist>\<album>) I want to select Play All and Shuffle from the root (Rock or Artist).

Is that possible in a future version. The third pary plugins are either old and not supported or crash to much.

  Weather Plugin: Wish for enhancement
Posted by: 7ore - 2007-11-13, 06:45 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

The plugin works great for me. But there are some things that is a bit annoying.
I would like to be able to change the way time is displayed. A setting to get the viewed time in 24 hour display would be great.

  cant get gbpvr to load
Posted by: acrazyfool - 2007-11-13, 06:38 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I recently have taken an older pc that was just sitting there and finally tried to make a dvr out of it. I reformatted with Xp(sp2) and have installed the .net framework 2.0. Then to make sure my system was ready I tried to run the file on the downloads page that is to udate .net and MS runtime. but all it did was have a loading screen with C++ in the title bar and quickly go away. Any way I just went to assume that I was set anyway.

I installed gbpvr and immediatly afterward I was in the config util and it seemed to work fine. After that whenever i try to run it all i see is the splash screen and then it closes. Everyonce in a while gbpvr will load and give me the icon in taskbar. from there i can open the recording status and config util just fine. but if i try to open pvrx2 i get .net exception. I can run the tuner util and it will work fine.

There was one time I got it to load but there obviously were no channels loaded yet. so as instructed i clicked the update EPG button. all that did was make the cursor have the hourglass for a few seconds. Since ive never done it before i dont know if that is all it is or if i get a confirmation screen.

I have tried to do a reinstall and dont want to try a reformat considering its a fresh install. Thanks for any help.

  Tuning problem for a new user.
Posted by: dan0124 - 2007-11-13, 05:00 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (17)

I had installed a commercial PVR trial package. I then tried GB-PVR which works very nicely. So I uninstalled the commercial software trial and GB-PVR no longer functions correctly. When I go to the channel scan only the last channel i was watching shows up with no audio. A scan results in nothing found.

If I reinstall the commercial trial everything in GB-PVR funcitons again. What do you suppose the commercial package is installing that my installation of GB-PVR requires ? I would like to remove the trial software.

I am using it for OTA HDTV. I run vista with an ATI 650 Theater pro. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  Minor Encoder Issue
Posted by: mototom - 2007-11-13, 04:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Just installed .5 and it ran correctly immediately. Then I tried to test other encoders that are on my system. First tried the only one showing up in BDA Mux Checker, Intervideo Multiplexer. When trying to watch LiveTV all I had was frozen video with live audio; same with MPEG Video Encoder. Then I went back to the Cyberlink encoder and all is running fine.

My questions are why does only one encoder show in MuxChecker? Why does GBPVR only work with an encoder that does not show up in MuxChecker? :confused:

I am getting some minor tearing and would like to try the others to see if I can cure that. If I never get it fixed it is so minor as to be no big deal.
