Posted by: dynamix1 - 2007-03-06, 07:50 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I just started using gbpvr and really like the interface. I am having some problems setting up the guide. I am in the us and and using zap2it for dishnetwork. After I update the guide there are many channels missing from the listing. Is there a way to correct this information. Thanx all. Also I already have a zap2it account setup. Thanx

  Recording service crash
Posted by: pastro - 2007-03-06, 07:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

A while back I posted a couple items on the wishlist because my recording service was crashing. In reality I think it was never starting after running config.

I think I have it isolated to having two machines connected to the same recordingservicelocation.
This extra connection occured because the second machine was a client at one point and the recordingservicelocation didn't update when I changed the machine back to standalone. I have since changed the second machine to point to localhost for the recordingservicelocation and haven't had any hiccups since.

I'm not really asking for help, just posting info.

Anyway here is the error event

  VMR9 Fullscreen Exclusive overscan
Posted by: dark_half - 2007-03-06, 07:21 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Is there a way to adjust for overscan when using VMR9 fullscreen exclusive because it doesn't seem to use the settings in the config.xml like normal VMR9. My settings seem to produce a fair amount of overscan which does not bug me except when using the menus.

Code:
<OverScanBorderX2>15</OverScanBorderX1> <OverScanBorderY1>10</OverScanBorderY1> <OverScanBorderX2>15</OverScanBorderX2> <OverScanBorderY2>10</OverScanBorderY2> <OverScanVideoAlso>false</OverScanVideoAlso>

  Recordings-READY and WHATS NEW empty
Posted by: leecole - 2007-03-06, 07:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

OK, I'm a newbe,
I have two systems with GBPVR installed.
v099.5 working great!
v099.12 with problems.
v099.12 useing Hauppage 250, with XMLTV and using TV Guide Supercharger.
Scheduleing, Guide, LiveTV, and recording all works fine.
Problem:
gbpvr.db3 "RECORDING_SCHEDULE" filename never shows a entry for a filepath to a recorded program. And recording-dump.xml has no entries.
Obviouslly, I have done something wrong, or failed to do something that I was required to do.
Any clues?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Richard

PS any other suggestion also welcomed!! (as long as it fits these specs).

A compiled list of PVR specs
Posted by: Pochrist - 2007-03-06, 06:05 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I found this information on this forum 9 months ago, I'm not sure it originated here, But It was a Webpage that listed hundreds (I think) of Home built PVR systems and the parts used. This way one could see if anyone else made a PVR from the same parts and what the results were. It wasn't anything fancy, but very informative. I'll be upgrading my PVR in the months ahead and want have acess to this info when I need to price parts and stuff. thanks.

  Moving recordings
Posted by: McBainUK - 2007-03-06, 06:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I've just acquired a 300gb hard drive to use for GB-PVR recordings and would like to move all my current recordings on to it, leaving the OS and GB-PVR install as is.

What do I have to do in order for GB-PVR for keep track of the recordings after I move them from C:\recordings to E:\recordings?

gbpvr with lcd tv and multiple HDs
Posted by: pvrdude - 2007-03-06, 05:12 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

I have two different questions to do with gbpvr and as I'm a total newbie to the pvr system, I hope I can find answers to both questions.

I'm currently using mythtv but I still want to use my other computer to compare and I would like to use one of the Windows pvr options.

However, I have two main problems (that is probably going to become more than two, eventually). One, I would like to use a LCD TV with a dvi to hdmi hookup and this is a major problem for me in mythtv as I'm totally green when it comes to linux and mythtv. I'm getting help with it but I can't lug the lcd tv around (and don't want to) so I have to work on it myself with various advice to guide me. I'm wondering how difficult it is with gbpvr and Windows. Is there a lot of discussion on that subject here? The tv has a resolution of 1366 x 768 so max. HD would be 720p?

Is there links in which I can find instructions or advice? I did a search but I thought I'd ask here and while I'm waiting for answers, I'll look through the hits.

The second problem is lack of computers. I don't want to use the mythtv computer so that leaves my main computer which has data on the HD. I currently dual boot to Windows 2000 and Debian (linux distro is usually the other OS whatever it is). I didn't want to mess with this drive so I was wondering what my options were. Could I add a second drive and install gb-pvr on it? I have a copy of XP I bought and it's currently not being used. I was thinking of using gb-pvr with it as it might work better than using it on Windows 2000. What do you think? I could also buy an external drive and install XP with gb-pvr? I was wondering which are the best HDs - I prefer Samsung and Hitachi but I am open to suggestions. Usually, the external drives are no-names so I'm not too keen on that setup unless there is a reliable brand name out there. Can someone advise me here? I didn't really want to spend on another computer. I have a very old Pentium 3 (Compaq SFF) to use for websurfing if I need to log into the forums for info while trying to setup up the pvr system or would there be anyway to switch to my other HD (with current data). Can I use two drives and have gb-pvr on another drive?

Finally, this is the specs for the current computer:
MB: Asus A8N32 - SLI Deluxe, 4600+ CPU, 2 GB DDR Memory, ATI Video card X300 (although, I prefer Nvida so I'm willing to upgrade or change the card to an Nvidia if that makes things easier - my nvidia card was AGP and went into my other computer. The ATI card was free. Perhaps, the ATI card is sufficient. I don't know.)

Oh, btw, I would need a tv tuner card. I use the Hauppauge PVR 150 (1045 retail ver. with IR blaster built-in) in the mythtv computer. I understand that Hauppauge has switched the hardware in 150s so they aren't recommended anymore. At least, one has to check the box now. I'm open to suggestions or recommendations of tuner cards to buy or I can find the threads in which people are discussing the best or most popular cards.

Thanks in advance for all recommendations, suggestions and advice! I will be watching this thread closely.

VMR9 Fullscreen Exclusive ain't very exclusive
Posted by: Graham - 2007-03-06, 05:07 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I get background screen updates visible as flashes of activity when GBPVR is running in VMR9 fullscreen exclusive mode.

For example, I can browse to YouTube and start a video running. I start GBPVR running in VMR9 Fullscreen Exclusive and blobs of the video poke through GBPVR and flash on screen.

I don't get this with VMR9 Custom.

In summary, VMR9 exclusive is less exclusive than VMR9 custom Wink

I don't mind. I'll just carry on using VMR9 custom.

Cheers

Graham

  GB-PVR Reboots all the time
Posted by: dadougalee - 2007-03-06, 03:52 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (14)

I have a Wireless MediaMVP connected to a computer serving GB-PVR software. It plays music great, and I can view pictures without any problems. But when I go to play a video, it flashes a black screen, and then restarts the MVP. I used to watch these without a problem. The video files are Xvid. I know that it could be (and probably is) a Xvid codec problem, but I can watch these videos with the server that came the the MVP with no problem. I've searched this forum, and found related topics, but their solutions did not help me. Has any had this problem, or knows a solution that I could try tonight?
