  Advisor Skin Question
Posted by: Blue Racer - 2006-11-09, 10:53 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (2)

1. I am unable to get the TV Guide to work with it. The message I get is: Could not find a part of the path C:\program Files\denz\gbpvr\skin\tv guide\xkin.xml
The TV guide does work with the basic blue skin. How would I fix this?
2. Also I installed a couple of the theme packs. They don't show up in the GBPVR config program. Do I have to click on the copytheme.bat file in the Theme's directory every time I want to switch skins?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  How do I get a decent picture to the TV?
Posted by: BatteriesIncluded - 2006-11-09, 10:31 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

OK... I'm a noob at this, kinda, so be a bit understanding. lAthough I have been running tuners on my computer for a few years now I have never really taken the steps (until now) to take the PVR all the way to HTPC.

I am currently running a WintTV PVR350, Video is a ATI9200SE, 1GB RAM, 3GHz Pentium 4 on asus MB, 400GB HD, and I'm running GBPVR (the latest). The picture from the card is fine on my computer and what would be expected from standard cable TV. My TV is a Toshiba 50HDX82 (50" Rear projection HD).

I have tried running from the computer to TV out via the video card and the picture is quite bad. I'm not sure if this is a function of the component TVOut, the video card, or this is just what should be expected from TVout. I have tried the TVout directly from the PVR350 card (hardware encoded) but it's not any better AND it eventually locks up the computer. I understand that it is a common problem with the 350 when using asus MB with a SiS chipset and I don't think I'm really interested in using it for this project anyway.

I have noticed that my TV has a DVI/HDCP input and I was thinking that this would be the way to connect the computers video card. When reading the TV's manual it states that the input is not intended to be connected to a PC. I'm tempted to try it but the fear of blowing the TV has stopped me.

I would have to buy a new video card to do so I was hoping if someone here could tell me if this was possible before I invested in a new video card in an attmpt to improve the picture sent to the TV. Also, is it possible to output HD to the TV from the computer... although it would be a standard TV signal it's gotta be better than regualr DVI. no?

Any helps, comments, etc would really be appreciated. I need to finally take this to the next level.

  System Buttons
Posted by: roy - 2006-11-09, 09:16 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (10)

I wish I could configure/skin which buttons are available in the system plugin. It hurts the WAF when she (or me Big Grin ) chooses 'Shutdown' rather than 'Standby' (from MVP) so the machine doesn't wake for recordings the next day. Sad

  Live TV - Time Shifted - Stops at end of the show
Posted by: Wickster - 2006-11-09, 06:24 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I am a new user to GB-PVR and have finally got everything working pretty well. (Lots of helpful stuff in the forums here, Never would have known to change quartz.dll Thanks Big Grin )

When I view live TV in time shifted mode the playback stops at the end of the show. (according to the guide) This is annoying if I want to keep watching the same channel. And catastrophic when watching "american" football games as they often run past the time slot on the guide and I loose the end of the game.

Is there a config setting I missed to allow time shifting of live TV to continue? Or am I forced to record my precious sporting games with a longer post padding time?

  1 USB-UIRT for two DirecTV Set top boxes
Posted by: diesel9129 - 2006-11-09, 06:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi all. I have a Hauppauge PVR 500 capture card and as I understand it, I need to have 2 STB's (I have direcTV) connected to the card. The question is can I use the one USB-UIRT (purchased in August '06) I already have to control both STB's? I found an old thread from sub in '04 that explained how to modify the USB-UIRT config file to create "zones" to use both STB's, see here:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ers+tuners

Does the solution Sub mentions in this link still valid? Thanks for everyones help.

  Jittery HD only during live TV
Posted by: TBacker - 2006-11-09, 04:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (16)

I know these forums are riddled withreports of jittery HD playback issues, but they all seem to pleague both playback of recorded material AND live TV.

In my case, I have no issue watching 1080i HD recorded shows, but theres just enough jitter in the video of live HD material to make it annoying / unwatchable. What really hurts is the picture is otherwise stunning!

Lower res live material is fine in live, just the 1080i jitters.

More symptoms / checks I've done....

* Audio is fine.
* I'm using the gbpvr.exe file dated 11/5/06.
* PureVideo decoders for both audio and video (June 06 release - forget the version).
* No other decoders are on the system.
* DirectX 9B version of quartz.dll
* The latest nVidia drivers released just days ago (made the problem better but not gone).
* CPU use is in the 40-50% range during live TV with 1080i source.
* PureVideo set for hardware acceleration, anamorphic / smart deinterlace / best avaialable / prever VMR9
* GB-PVR set for VMR9 Custom / live preview / no deinterlacing
* Have tried overlay mode to no avail.

So - now I'm stumped. I presently have to watch my HD stuff off of the old STB, or wait for it to record and watch it after it's done!

Input from the brain trust would be appreciated.

  comskip/comclean newbie help req.
Posted by: JuicyFruits - 2006-11-09, 04:20 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (13)

I've downloaded the 3 scripts from here:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/Post3

And found that It wasn't quite working, so I edited reprocess.bat to do each step at a time ie. ran this batch file several times with the different 1's and 0's enabled at the top to track down where it was failing.

comskip appears to have completed, but I think I get an error in comclean...

Code:
C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr>reprocess.bat "f:\GBPVR\The OC\The OC_20061109_1400 1455.dvr-ms" C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr>ECHO off Post Processing started on 09/11/2006 16:11:56.01 Commercial removal... The system cannot find the file specified. ComClean did not run right, PostProcess.bat will end now... C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr>

In the recording directory I dont seem to have a _clean.mpg file or a plain .mpg file. The only file I have is the .dvr-ms file.
Anyone know whats going on ?
Cheers,
Juice.
