I have still no success bringing my system to work properly after updating.
However. There is one strange thing I want to report:
Scrolling through my tv guide sometimes happens like this:
I start at any show, this is marked green
I hit the right button on the remote -> the next show on the right is marked, but only with a border, no green color
I hit the right button once again -> the same show is marked, this time with green color
I hit the right button again -> the next show on the right is marked green.
This happens from time to time and I didn't find out a system so far. I attach a sequence of screenshots to show that. I looks like as there is an entry for an identical show, same time, same name, just 'behind' the entry of the other.
Does anybody have an idea where to start searching for the reason?
I have a odd av stuttering problem that occurs on main computer playback every 20 sec during playback of the recording. Using ProcExplorer I saw that the CPU usage of the GBPVR.exe running under the RecordingService (ie the MVP client?) spikes every 20 sec to about 70-80% of CPU, which correlates with the video/sound stutter. No problem with MVP playback.
The problem goes away when the MVP server is not enabled using config.
The problem also goes away when I set the process priority of the MVP client GBPVR.exe to below that of the Recording Service and the ordinary GBPVR client. However I couldn't figure out how to get this accomplished using the config.xml. I set <ForceHighPriorityRecordingService> to true, <ForceHighPriorityClient> to true, and <MvpHighPriority> to false. But all three processes seem to run at Above Normal priority.
Sub, is this the expected behavior? Does setting <ForceHighPriorityClient> to true override the <MVPHighPriority> false config setting? Because I can set the <ForceHighPriorityRecordingService> and the <MVPHighPriority> to false, and the only process to be normal priority is the recording service while both clients are above normal. So is there anyway for me (config.xml or batch file?) to get the priority of the MVPclient lowered back to normal (or the main client raised to above normal) automatically?
Alternately, what might cause this stuttering every 20 seconds? The MVP and gigabit ethernet of the server sit on 2 ports of a gigabit wired network switch (though there is a 100 mbps router upstream). The problem timing does seem to be specific to the MVP being completely off; it stutters a little less and at different intervals when the MVP is on and the client priorities are equal. Could it be something with the MVP server (tFTP???)
Also, I've looked through the logs and I can't figure out whether there is a separate gbpvr.exe.log for the MVP...
I have setup a GBPVR server that I am very happy with now and I am getting ready to finish setting up 2 clients using the new version of GBPVR (0.9808). Since the clients will not include a tuner card in either, I would like to reuse the Hauppauge 45 button remotes on those 2 systems. What would be the best way to implement this to work with GBPVR? I do have 1 Actisys IR-200L available and I could also buy any number or IR receivers if need be... I am just unsure of a combination of hardware / software + config to make this work... Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
BTW the new streaming features are freaking awesome!
I just wanted to share this in case it helps anyone else in fixing some shoppy video playback. I have had 98.08 working well for a couple of weeks. This weekend I did some minor adjustments and I got shoppy video (both live tv and recorded sessions).
Each night I do a scheduled reboot and an update of the EPG. Before I updated the guide(4am), then rebooted (5am). This weekend when I switched the order, I ran into problems. So I just switched it back to update first, then reboot. Video is back to normal.
Just curious to how the Record Seaon option works. Does it record all episodes with that name on that channel for one year? I am assuming it records reruns that my play in the middle of the season as well.
I am absolutely happy with GBPVR but I often get a file sized 0 KB on a scheduled recording.
The folder and the recording file are both created, but the file is just 0 KB. If I restart the Recording Service the next recording will be fine. This happens sometimes after each recording or after watching live TV. I find something in the logs of the recording service but nothing in the log of the frontend application, what I think is normal. The log is attached. I appreciate any help as I enjoy using GBPVR a lot.
I use GBPVR 98.08b and a Hauppauge T 90002 which works fine with the original application.
I run device type check and the log says I have a PVR 250 (though the actual appication has a blank screen). Actually, I have a Emuze Maui III and also a Hauppauge PVR 150. I have them both set to Capture Board #1 but if I try and schedule 2 recordings I get a conflict.
Any clues?
By the way, yes, the Maui III is supported and has hardware encoding.
I'm doing some reorganizing on my system. I'm wanting to move all of my EXISTING TV recordings to a second hard drive and then change the path to which NEW TV Recordings will go to this same new hard drive location.
Is there any trick to moving my current recordings to still keep them VISIBLE and WATCHABLE in GBPVR? Or is it as easy as cut and paste in Windows Explorer and updating my Recordings directory in the GB-PVR Config?
after much titting about i think i'm now VERY close to getting the client to work -
I've tried reregistering all the filters, i've got the same mux registered on the client and server (not sure if this is really important or not), an mpeg decoder installed correctly (intervid on the server and stinky on the client), I'm using a 400Meg firewire straight between the client and PC, I'm using file sharing because streaming just seems to lock up the client and I've tried overlay and all the vmrs , but I'm still just getting a black screen on live tv (only on vmr9custom - all the other options just stall at the 'live preview starting' message). The sound is coming through OK, recorded shows and video playback fine, and I can see the recording service go green and the hdds chug away on the server.
