  Directv and OTA HDTV
Posted by: sdamron - 2006-09-07, 12:40 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Me again...Big Grin

I currently have over the air HDTV signal and want to get Directv...of course I also want to have a PVR that will record and playback, pause, change channels, etc on both systems. On to my questions now...

Can I put 2 tuners in gbpvr and use one for Directv and the other for the OTA HDTV and be able to operate both with the same remote?

Has anyone done this, and if so, what tv cards were used? I currently have 2 of the Kworld ATSC-110 Digital/Analog HDTV Tuner cards, will I be able to have 2 of the same card in the pvr and operate one for HDTV and the other for Directv?

My main concern is being able to record one program, be it on HD or Directv, and watch another on either as well.

Any answers would be massively apprecitated!!

i have the hauppauge pvr-500. when watching live tv the picture is crystal clear however when recording any show the recording is fuzzy and pixely. at one point i was experiencing that with live tv so i switched the capture devices around. my question is how do i get both tuners to display crystal clear picture. does it mean that i have a bad tuner....

i am a newbie at this and have searched the forums to no avail. Any help much appreciated Big Grin

  Frozen video in LiveTV
Posted by: mrurt - 2006-09-06, 11:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I tried testing out the time shifting abilities of gbpvr after I initially set everything up and made sure it was all working. It was cool and worked well, but I stopped it and went back to normal viewing because I wasn't in need of it at the time. An hour later or so I paused live tv again so I could go make myself dinner. After coming back to it I found that the video was frozen where I started the timeshift, and the program had not brought up the timeshifting menu like it had the first time I tried it. Now every time I try to view live tv, that same frozen video image is there, even though the audio is fine. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling gbpvr to no avail (including manually deleting the folder in program files). Any help would be appriciated.

Wondering if there's a way to view which episode...
Posted by: rlbond - 2006-09-06, 10:59 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

So I've recorded a few episodes of Futurama, and it's a little annoying to find that specific episode out of a list of 10 or so from the Recordings list, as each entry looks like this:

Futurama..............................Ready
9/6/06 11:00 - 11:30...........60 CRTN

is there a way to scroll through the episodes without having to select the first one, hit cancel, select the second, hit cancel, etc. until I find the correct episode?

  Can't view TV
Posted by: Mogal - 2006-09-06, 10:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi, I have no video when I go to watch TV.

I just reinstalled windows, all updates are done,
Both vers of DoTNet installed, all drivers installed.
I can see the proper channels when using the Tuning assistant.
But can't find where to enter in the fequencies.

I'm using a ATI TV Wonder elite. everything worked great before
formating the system.

Please help me figure this out, logs attached.

Three problems with new setup (Failed to locate cap dev, IR troubles, no video on TV)
Posted by: Scalpel - 2006-09-06, 10:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Just for background, I'm using a Hauppauge 150 for my capture, and a Gainward GF3 with analog video out as my output card. The first question is directly GBPVR related, while the second two are more generalized setup issues. However everyone here seems very knowledgeable, so I hope it's okay to ask the second two questions here.

1. When I click on "Live TV" to see if I'm getting a signal through the coax in on the capture card, I get "Failed to locate configured capture device". I double-checked the config settings, and they match the Wiki's suggested setup.

2. When I boot up the machine, I get an error message of "Failed to initialize Infrared Remote Hardware". I've tried unplugging and re-plugging the IR sensor, restarting it through the Hauppauge program group, and reinstalling the latest IR software from their site. None of these fixed the problem.

3. I cannot get video on the TV! I configured the Omega drivers for the GF3 to override any non-detection of the TV, and then set it to run off the TV as the primary display. It seems to be feeding a signal at 320x240 at 100Hz, but all it does on the TV is flicker once or twice. However, I suspect the problem may be with the NTSC-to-analog adapter I am using, and I will bite the bullet and pay Radio Shack the $20+ they are asking for the same cable...

Thanks in advance for any help all of you may provide. I have attached the logs for my system.

  Recordings have 0 byte size
Posted by: Melaleuca - 2006-09-06, 07:19 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Any time I record when it's done the recording is empty. Looked in the logs and found this entry for my latest attempt:

Code:
9/6/2006 1:53:25 PM.453 VERBOSE [6] DirectRecordingSource about to start recording oid:1 channel:7 9/6/2006 1:53:25 PM.593 ERROR [6] Error starting recording: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. 9/6/2006 1:53:25 PM.609 ERROR [6] Error starting recording: at NativeUtilities.ConexantRecorder.StartRecording(String cardType, ConexantRecordSource recordingSource, Int32 qualitySetting, Int32 board, String filename, Int32 channel, Int32 countryCode, Int32 tuningType, Boolean useStreamingEngineIfAvailable, Boolean previewMode, Boolean fmRadioMode, Boolean fmRadioPreviewMode) at GBPVR.Backend.Common.DirectRecordingSource.startRecording(IRecordingSourceConfiguration config, Int32 qualitySetting, String filename, ChannelTuning channelTuning, Int32 minutes, Boolean useStreamingEngineIfAvailable) at GBPVR.RecordingService.x93f60a55016d55c4.xcba1f05fb5a46d5f() 9/6/2006 1:53:25 PM.812 VERBOSE [6] RecordingStatus is now RecordingStatus.RECORDING_IN_PROGRESS

I don't know what might cause that error. Any thoughts?
