I've had a working GBPVR PVR-250 setup working for a while now using external ATSC tuners as my source. Decided to take the plunge an try an HDTV capture card. Heard all the horror stories with respect to the DVICO cards and thought I would try the VBOX DTA-150 since it comes with BDA drivers, even though there are reports of successful GBPVR/DVICO Fusion 5 lite rigs.

Anyhow, the DTA-150 did not work out. Short story:

1) Win2K No native DVR-MS support, horrible stuttering, unusable. :mad:
2) WinXP SP2 DX9C: Generally worked, but the classic loss of deinterlacing after REW/FF (stuttering) :mad:
3) WinXP SP2 DX9B rollback: Just about any access to the DTA-150 caused GBPVR to crash or the PC to lock up. Apparently the DTA-150 needs DX9C.:mad:

With my hardware, I have to rollback to DX9B to prevent the playback stuttering problem while playing mpegs.

In the middle of all this, Tweeter put the Sony 500GB HD DVR on sale for a price I couldn't refuse. Now I am using GBPVR to stream the DVR output to MVPs on secondary TVs.

I did try the card with the SAGETV demo, and it appeared to work, but frankly I did not use it longer than the time it took to make sure the hardware was installed correctly. The SAGETV demo also failed if I rolled back to DX9B.

Based on threads in this forum, tried several MPEG splitters with no luck. The DTA-150 drivers installed without issue. They have not updated the DTA-150 drivers in ages and their is no Linux support, so I returned the DTA-150 while I still could.

I have a PVR-250 fitted with the Hauppauge second input board. This is a small board on a backplate connector that plugs into the white connector on most Hauppauge boards. I provides a second composite/svideo input plus stereo audio. I am using this input in addition to the standard one provided on the PVR-250 itself.

I have channel 1 configured as Svideo, and channel 2 configured as Svideo2. No other channels are configured. On either channel, the audio output is from the audio input on the PVR-250 (corresponding to channel 1). The video switches normally. If I add a channel from the Hauppauge on board tuner, the audio will switch properly to the tuner and then back to audio 1 for channel 1 and audio 1 for channel 2.

Using the Hauppauge WinTV software, the video/audio switches properly, so I don't think I have a hardware problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This one's trivial, but I find 5 seconds a bit too long for the OSD since I don't usually use it to read the description. Could the number of seconds to display it be a setting? This would be for MVP usage as well. (I know the OSD button will make it go away earlier, too, but I'm lazy as well as impatient.)

Hey all - Sub do you have your Maui-iii card working for yourself? I have the NTSC version and tried to add a section to direct.ini by cutting and pasting the PAL secton and first changing the PAL to NTSC and later just removing the NTSC string and in both cases config states that it appears that the device is not installed. The card works fine with the "native" Movie Mill software.

This is a low priority support question as my primary tuner works fine and you
have your hands full with all the questions about the new release.

It would be great if gbpvr showed a volume bar on screen when you change the volume or mute.

Another thing would be to have live tv playing either in background or preview window when you are in the tv guide.

After installing the new version the only problem I see with the skin is the title text in upper right is too large (as referenced in original thread)

hey I got a question I tried using my playlists but sad to say it seems like I can't even see the playlists whether I use jukebox music player or music library I can't see my playlists well in music library I can see the m3u I made but it won't play any songs I saved on that list and the wpl's are invisible

i've hit what has to be a new record for gbpvr.mdb size ratio. in anticipation of the new gbpvr version upgrade, i was going to back up my gbpvr directory and found the gbpvr.mdb occupying an unholy 1GB of disk space! i tried running the config app to compress it down and there was no change. instead i shut down all GBPVR processes and did a compact and repair in MS access. the final file size? that would be 6.3MB... something is definitely amiss.

i am wondering if it has something to do with using Slimm GBPVR and too many processes fingering the database. can anyone else with this combination of software report such horrors?

Just a quick little command line tool for updating the GBPVR database with a modified filename.

For those of you who encode to a format that isn't avi, and are having to rename their converted recordings so that GBPVR sill finds the files, and for those of you who rename their recordings to have the episode name etc.

Simply put the exe file into the gbpvr main directory (the one with the gbpvr.mdb database in) and add to the postprocessing/postconversion batch file.

Usage: UpdateDB original_filename new_filename
