I always keep coming back to CountourHC because it's the only skin I have found that when displaying tv guide; blocks out in red the bar on the top when a recording is scheduled in that time slot. Makes it so easy to see when recording is scheduled no matter where you are in the guide...why don't more skins utilize this?
I just want to make sure things are working correctly :
When I hit the Live TV menu through MVP, I usually see the show playing, with a green play button flashing in right corner of TV and then the screen goes blank with a stop button in right corner that flashes. I then have to hit the play button to get the show started again. I'll see the last few seconds again.
Is this normal ? Why do I have to hit play again ?
I have latest version of GB-PVR. Comskip works great when I watch shows directly on my PC but just don't work through MVP.
I've tried unplugging and restarting MVP, no success.
When show start on MVP, I don't even see comskip blank spot on duration bar on top of screen. All the txt files are in the directory, they just don't work.
I know others have posted about this but I haven't found my answers.
I must admit that I haven't look at how exactly the skin have been implemented but I found it inacceptable (sorry, I could not found a more appropriated word to describe my feeling) that a plug-in would not work at all if not skinned by the selected skin.
I think that there should be a default skin which all plug-in must implement and that should be used if no definition is provided by the selected skin.
I am thinking of some sort of inheritance with the Main Skin at its root, and family of skins below it....
I guess that with that kind of system, even if a skin have not be designed specifically with some plug-in in mind, they would still work (maybe not optimally, but at least without resorting to exceptions).
I've done exactly as explained in the quick start help file from gbpvr.com to setup and load channels using EPG upload. I've been able to successfully load all channels with their name and channel number in the "configuration". However, when i run gbpvr and click on "TV Guide", it keeps coming up w/ a popup that says:
"No channels have been setup. Please run the configuration utility and setup the EPG source. Use the 'Update EPG' button to force the system to import the latest set of channel and program information".
I'm not the brightest guy, so if there's something i'm missing, it won't surprise me. Any help is really appreciated.
My configuration: Hauppauge PVR 150... Direct Recording Plugin... Zap2it.. Hauppauge IR blaster.
Note: I'm able to watch TV in gbpvr by clicking on "Live TV" or I can even use "Search Guide" and "Recording" feature of gbpvr... the ONLY thing I can't get to work is be able to view "TV GUIDE". I've also attached a screen-shot of the error if anyone wants is not clear on what error I'm getting... THANK YOU !!!!
My patience is wearing thin with Microsoft Windows. Over the past two weeks I've been painfully reinstalling Windows XP SP2 and ,as a result, I'm tired. Does GBPVR support Macintosh or Linux Operating Systems? It would be superb it it does.
I'm building (slowly) a GBPVR system - unfortunately the last part im including is going to be the capture card, because all of the other components need to be upgraded first before it is of any use to me.
That said, I still have video out capability and wish to use my (unfinished) box as a media server for all the movies I've made and music I listen to. Unfortunately installing GBPVR without a capture card seems to be impossible. I get .Net Framework errors when I try installing the program or running config - the errors are as follows:
"An unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit the application will be shut down immediately.
File or assembly name NAtiveUtilities, or one of its dependencies, was not found"
I cannot even get GBPVR to open its UI. Its totally unresponsive. The MediaMVP Server, whatever that is, is also unresponsive.
Selecting either loads absolutely nothing.
The Recording service icon in the system tray, however, does exist (however there is nothing to record so it does me no good)
Is there a way to use GBPVR and its UI for playing music videos and displaying pictures on my TV? navigating windows on a non-HD tv is a pain and it seems this UI would be far superior.

I am based in the Uk, and have been getting my epg from the Radiotimes xml feed.
The problem is that the system, although it (mostly) works, is not that quick. changing a channel takes a while, and watching one channel whilst recording another results in extremely choppy live viewing. Both cards are set to hardware encoding, so they should be able to move along at a decent pace.
So, I am looking at GB-PVR. First off, will the hardware work? Secondly, will it move along at a decent pace? I am quite happy to use this box as a dedicated machine.
This will definitely suck if this is true. I'm really getting tired of all these restrictions. One day I may just have to stop watching tv all together.
