  Replace Mouse with Remote?
Posted by: tobyoftheapes - 2005-07-22, 03:54 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi everyone, I'm currently working on building a HTPC. I'm running GB-PVR with a Hauppauge PVR 150 with remote and everything is currentlyl working acceptably, however I had two questions. Firstly, is there any way I can tweak the picture that I get while recording? Its a little blurry still. Also, I was wondering if there was a way to use the PVR 150 remote instead of a mouse. By this I mean use the arrow keys to move the mouse cursor and program two buttons to be the left and right mouse buttons. I'd like to be able to access folders and such using the mouse if thats possible. Thanks very much!

  Quality Settings with Manual Recordings
Posted by: cagapiou - 2005-07-22, 01:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have tried to schedule manual recordings with a High Quality setting, instead of the default Medium Quality, however always the actual recording is done with the Medium Quality setting properties.

Has this happened to anybody else too?

What I am actually trying to achieve is to record with a higher bit rate the the bit rate of the Medium Quality setting, however it appears that the recorded file always comes out with the properties of the Medium Quality setting.

I would greatly appreciate any kind of help in this problem.

Thanks.

Static At Bottom of DVD Playback
Posted by: WEAPON - 2005-07-22, 01:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

When playing a DVD, I get a bar at the bottom that takes up about 10% of the window that's full of static. The top 90% is fine and clear, but the bottom part is flashing with various colors. I tried changing the Video Decoder from 'System Default' to 'Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder' and it fixes it, but the remote control no longer works. Can anyone help me out with this problem? Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

  Scheduled recordings kind of flakey
Posted by: chrisjx - 2005-07-22, 08:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I'm still getting some inconsistent behavior with scheduled recording.

I set up a schedule and it will record during the appropriate time but it fails to change the channel of the cable box. I can change channels via the remote control, but the scheduled event doesn't seem to trigger the change automatically.

The other problem is that if I leave the application in Live TV mode, it will generate an error. It seems that it can't handle a change when live TV is on. See this thread:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=6925

I expected the behavior to be that if I was watching Live TV and it was time to start recording, Live TV would cease, the cable box would be changed to the defined channel and recording would proceed.

Tonight, I had set up to record David Letterman (Elvis Costello and the Imposters with Emmylou Harris) and the program was to start at 11:35; end at 12:37. I was watching a separate program directly from the Cable box, waiting for the recording to start 1 minute before the program started. 11:34 no, 11:35 no, 11:36 no, so I switched the cable box directly... The GBPVR app was on the main menu and was not on any specific channel.

Looking at the Recording > Pending menu inicated that the David Letterman show was being recorded.

Finally I waited through the David Letterman show and at 12:38 it was still recording.

At 12:39, the application generated an error. It was the same as reported before - R6025 - pure virtual function call (see link above).

12:45 I exit GBPVR and look at the Recording Service Status and it indicates that it is still recording the Letterman show. Restarting the Service from the task pane icon didn't change that. Finally I went to the Stop Service option on the Start > Programs > GBPVR menu and then restarted the service and that cleared the Letterman recording link.

I looked on disk for the video file and it had indeed recorded the Letterman show. The file creation time was 12:38.

Suggestions? The challenge of making this approvable by the wife is becoming difficult to defend...

TIA,
Chris.

Recommendation on good/cheap TV out card?
Posted by: HamsterGirl35 - 2005-07-22, 05:59 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

Hi,

I have PVR-150 and have been recording onto my Hard drive....

Now that I've got a lot of MPEG files, and I wanted to watch the MPEG files on TV, so I'd like to know if anyone can recommend a GOOD and cheap TV out video card?

I think it's better for me and family to watch the shows on bigger screen (TV) and since PVR150 doesn't have TV out..... Sad

I don't want a fancy video card, just a card enough to transmit MPEG files onto TV screen and without any trouble (ie, delay)

Help, anyone?

ps, TV is within distance of the computer, and it also has S-video as well....

  My Videos Stretches Files
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2005-07-22, 05:54 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (5)

I have Gogetem get the trailers for me, and I have quicktime alternative installed to allow me to watch .mov files in gbpvr. I have My Videos set up to let me watch the trailers and while the trailers might be in widescreen format, my videos, stretches them to whatever ratio the tv is. Windows Media Player 10 plays the files in the right ratio. Is this a bug?

  GBPVR.EXE Priority Question...
Posted by: picachux - 2005-07-22, 05:38 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

GB-PVR has been great, but i've been having a slight stuttering issue whether or not I use Encoder-Passthrough. When doing everyday things like surfing, rar'ing a simple file. GB-PVR stutters, so I set GB-PVR.EXE to priority AboveNormal and it has cured the problem. GB-PVR takes up a steady 13-16% CPU. My question is whether or not the priority sticks and will it affect anything? Thanks In Advance Big Grin

Can't listen to FM Radio "No recorder available"
Posted by: superdad - 2005-07-22, 04:52 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Hi Folks,

I've got a Hauppauge 500 and I've got the Antenna plugged into the FM plug. I installed the mp3 encoder and now when I try to play/record fm radio GBPVR displays a message that says "No tuner was availible the enable you to record the requested station.".

I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to do to get this to work. I poked around the logs and I couldn't see any errors. I searched the forums and peeked at the wiki and no joy.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your time.

  record input from svideo
Posted by: rjaeger1 - 2005-07-22, 04:29 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have 2 cards in my pc - 1 PVR250, 1 PVR150 - and i have a few things on beta tapes that i would like to digitally record using gbpvr. I would be using an rca cable from the beta player to one of the cards rca video input. If I can't figure out how to record the audio, i'll use a coax tv cable instead. I could use the supplied hauppauge program but would prefer gbpvr. thanks for any help you can provide.

  No audio during recording
Posted by: Don - 2005-07-22, 01:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I posted this problem a couple of weeks ago but did not get any responses and was wondering if anyone has heard of this problem. I have not had any problems when recording one show, the problem I have is when I record back to back shows. I tried recording Stargate last weekend when they played it for 12 straight hours. When I record the shows, I get no audio on a couple of the recordings. Everything works great for 1 or 2 shows then no audio. Then it records fine for a few shows then no audio. Anyone have any ideas???
