  SAT>IP
Posted by: jcjefferies - 2019-10-12, 08:58 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (29)

I am thinking of getting a DVB-S2 SAT>IP tuner so to learn about it I am having a play with SAT>IP software to see how it plays with Windows NPVR v5. I have been trying TVheadend, Minisatip & SATPI with DVB-T USB devices and each has advantages and disadvantages!

SATPI is simple to setup but actively refused the connection on port 554 from NPVR so not able to tune!

Minisatip started when I eventually after a long search found a working startup switch combination! A DVB-T2 tuner scanned and found channels but only DVB-T ones! A switch to cure that?

TVheadend seemed easier to setup on LibreElec than Linux but still complicated! It scanned and found channels but NPVR could not detect the channels and was not able to scan. So many menu options!

1) Does NPVR search for SAT>IP servers on both ports 554 & 9983?
2) With TVheadend should NPVR detect the channels found by a TVH scan or should it be empty and let NPVR scan?

Should v5 try to reconnect a scheduled recording?
Posted by: markn62 - 2019-10-12, 07:33 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (42)

I've been test driving NextPvr after being disappointed with the way TvMosaic handles interrupted recordings. Creates a lot of partials while recording an inherently less reliable IPTV source.  I'm finding NextPvr has the same struggle. But at least NextPvr doesn't seem to corrupt the .TS file after an interruption. It's a good test bed now since xcode recently blew up and providers are working to restore reliability in their feeds.

Curious, how NextPvr is designed to record.  For example, while watching an IPTV stream live and recording simultaneously I see a 10 second drop in the IPTV stream then it resumes.  I notice the recording stops in response to the dropped stream and never resumes recording.  Is v5 suppose to keep trying to reconnect the stream and then start a 2nd recording to finish the same programmed scheduled?  Or does it simply drop the recording and leave the user with one partial recording instead of two or more?  If the latter I would like to suggest a feature enhancement that would restart the recording so only the time the connection dropped is missing, even if it results in multiple partial recordings for one scheduled program.  Hope this is clear.

Is it possible?

HDHR Recordings Include Data From Wrong Channel During Post-Padding
Posted by: BrettB - 2019-10-12, 04:21 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Since the fall tv season has begun, we’ve got quite a few concurrent recordings going on. And have been having lots of issues with “problem” recordings.

This is on my v4 production server, with HDHR Prime tuners, and watching via X-NEWA 2.5.4.

Frequently when we go to play a recording in X-NEWA, the skipping (both comskip auto skipping plus manual arrow skipping) won’t work and you can’t pause the playback. Often when it gets to the end of playing, Kodi will display the Buffering message and just hang there, but sometimes it will go back to the recordings list. Fortunately, pressing the stop button does still seem to work.

I believe that the problem is that during post-padding, NPVR is taking an active tuner and changing the channel for a different recording on a different channel. But the original recording continues to accept data streaming from the HDHR (now from a different channel) and add it to the end of the original file. I know we used to have a similar problem with v4, but I thought that had been fixed a while ago.

I just watched All Rise (recorded 10/7 on channel WCCO). It had the “no skipping/pausing” problem. But then at the end the last 5 minutes (post-padding) has The Good Doctor which was on channel KSTP. You can see from the entries in my recordings.log file, the same tuner (HDHR Prime Tuner 1-1) was used for both shows.

Code:
Mon 10/07/2019 18:59:23.07 Recording "E:\NPVR Recordings2\The Neighborhood\The Neighborhood.S02E03.Welcome to the Fresh Coat.ts" from channel 804 on tuner "HDHR Prime Tuner 1-1" Mon 10/07/2019 19:59:00.24 Recording "E:\NPVR Recordings2\All Rise\All Rise.S01E03.Sweet Bird of Truth.ts" from channel 804 on tuner "HDHR Prime Tuner 1-1" Mon 10/07/2019 21:00:00.24 Recording "E:\NPVR Recordings2\The Good Doctor\The Good Doctor.S03E03.Claire.ts" from channel 805 on tuner "HDHR Prime Tuner 1-1"
You can download a copy of the full .ts file here.

At this point, I don’t see sub spending any time fixing v4, which is why I’ve been working to move my production recordings to a v5 system. But since that’s not going as smoothly as I had hoped, I’d appreciate it if Martin could take a look at a recording file (and the attached kodi log from playing it). Don’t spend much time on this. I’m just hoping you can confirm, and let me know if you think of any quick/easy ways to get Kodi to better handle these files.[attachment=63]

Recent problem with Hauppauge WinTV-dual HD TV Tuner
Posted by: Christen - 2019-10-12, 01:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi all,

I have been using a Hauppauge WinTV-dual HD TV Tuner with NextPVR, which has been working fine since March of this year up until around Thursday the 10/10/2019.

After which I started receiving the message “Unable to locate tuner filter”.

Having checked device manager I noticed the Hauppauge WinTV-dual HD TV Tuner was missing and so unplugged it from the USB port, then plugged it back in whereupon it reappeared. Then rebooted my desktop.

I had hoped that this would solve the problem but unfortunately I am now receiving the message “Tuner not available” when trying to select a channel.

Although I can still go into NextPVR settings and scan for new channels etc, using this TV Tuner.

After checking my desktop the only thing that changed around the time/day it stopped working was the installation of two Windows 10 updates (below) on the 10/10/2019, I’m not sure whether these would affect it? But thought to mention just in case.

KB4524100
KB4517389

Many thanks in advance for any help/assistance anyone can offer to resolve this.

Watching Show in knewc 2.7.4 that is recording always jumps out
Posted by: jksmurf - 2019-10-12, 11:45 AM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (30)

As subject really, I have an Android Sony TV running Kodi and knewc 2.7.4

I scheduled the record but am watching it while it records.
It jumps out. I go out and go back in again, catch up to the live feed and it jumps out.

It's pretty frustrating and I haven't actually changed anything?

Thanks for any suggestions!

  Won't Record with Windows 10 v. 1903
Posted by: GWCowling323 - 2019-10-12, 11:28 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Next PVR has been working perfectly for me for quite some time. Until I upgraded to Windows 10 v. 1903. Now, instead of a recording I get the message "Unable to locate tuner filter (Hauppauge WinTV 885 ATSC Tuner/Demod 2)" for each program listed on the "Recordings" page. Does this indicate that reinstalling the software NextPvr will solve the problem. I would prefer not to go thru the whole setup process again if I can avoid it. I have considered a clean install of windows, but only as a last resort.

  Editing Recurring recordings from WebClient
Posted by: damo - 2019-10-11, 03:30 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (10)

Hi,

When I edit recurring recordings pre and post-padding, it doesn't save the values.
I currently have recurring recordings that have the same value (20 minutes) in both the pre and post-padding fields, and cannot change them.
BTW, I never set 20 minutes pre-padding, so I think it may have become corrupt when it was added.

Also, I have 3 recurring recordings, and cannot select the third item in the list.

On the latest version 20191007, on windows, and chrome webClient.

Cheers,

  Stream Freeze
Posted by: hdpvr-doug8796 - 2019-10-10, 10:50 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Good afternoon,

I had a stream freeze earlier today and could not change until Jeopardy! (MY Recording) came on.  Please let me know how to do this manually if need be.  It was stuck on a channel and would not move.  I could program a script or something if need be to alleviate it. It seems to work now.

  Evil art
Posted by: mvallevand - 2019-10-10, 07:21 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (6)

NextPVR does not load the correct art for the show Evil (from the guide or recordings) but if I tell it to prefer art from SD shouldn't it get the art from the unique_id?  The logging isn't clear where it comes from.  I removed the Evil* from the shows and thumbs folders and the same file comes back.

Even from thetvdb I see only one direct match for Evil which is the one I want.

Also if I use the Video Library Metadata logic via knewc on linux it seems to immediately fail.  Is that function supposed to work from UI Client.  Again there is no logging of what is going on

Martin
