Tried to install the 150 in a test machine (not the one below, but an emachine) to play with it while if get my real rig going, and got an error of "data invalid" or "invalid data" during driver install. Talked with tech, and they had me mod my reg as they said it was a pci access issue, and that didn't work. Any ideas?

I've now got a dedicated machine to use as a PVR, so have stopped using the MVP.

The problem on this machine is that anytime the OSD or miniguide display during live tv preview or recording playback, the picture goes completely black. The sound continues, so the video is still playing but can't be seen. As soon as the OSD times out, the video reappears and everything is great.

My video card is a ATI Radeon 9250 with the latest drivers, on a Windows 2k machine with a Sempron 2400 processor. If I select VMR 7 or 9 in config I get an error, so I have to use Overlay. I have a Nova-T DVB card.

From using the MVP (with my desktop pc, not the dedicated PVR machine) I know that transparent OSD is possible, but I can't make it work.

All settings on the Playback tab are left as system default, as that worked before.

What do I need to change to enable transparent overlay? I've searched the forums and can't see an obvious answer.

Any chance of adding the facilty to delete a file in the videos screen when you have watched it (just like you can a recording).

seems that when i record i get a bunch of graphical glitches, a combination of lines being skued, and blocks of video being strange. Anyone have suggestions?

well, I have tried GB-PVR over the last couple of weeks, including the new version released yesterday and there are two problems I cannot seem to solve so I though I might ask here.

I have a Hauppauge PVR500 dual tuner card by the way.

First problem is that audio always lags video in liveTV mode (and subsequent recordings of course). I have already done a forum search on this topic and the solutions I found (defrag harddisc and/or add a registry switch for the TV card driver) did not help at all.

Also, I am 100% sure that this is a problem inside GB-PVR. Why? Because I have tried many other programs (Dscaler, Mediaportal, SageTV, ChrisTV) and all those programs work fine. No AV sync issues there.

So if on the same system, same drivers, same time etc. 4 programs work fine and one does not, where is the solution usually ?

I have tried to change various default settings for the card but could not find any setting that influences AV sync. Maybe someone can give me a hint ?

Second problem is that picture quality is worse in GB PVR than in those other apps I mentioned and this is due to interlacing artefacts that are visible in GB_VCR even though I have the "deinterlacing filter" active for the LivePreview mode.

Dscaler obviously has the best quality but even ChrisTV, Mediaportal and SageTV without Dscaler filters are way better than GB-PVR. I changed the default bit rate values for the card but these obviously do not help with interlacing artefacts.

I do not want to use ffdshow for deinterlacing, maybe there could be alternatives (like integrate Dscaler filters etc.) arranged for in the future.
Maybe someone can help out a bit !

with the new aspect ratios you can easily switch between the defined aspect ratios. but ive found that i keep switching to certain ones, for certain videos. i have a widescreen tv. and ive created a aspect ratio that shrinks width (so the overscan part of the image is shown, so the image appears tall and skinny) and then stretched the height, this gives me a simulated widescreen effect, which is great for tv in most situations. i could set this to the default ratio, but i have a lot of xvids, which are all widescreen 640x350 (or around that), which i use the normal aspect ratio for 0,0,1,1. it would be nice if you gbpvr detected the aspect ratio of the video, and automatically switched to that aspect ratio for that given file or live tv. you will still need to switch manually sometimes, for widescreen broadcasts which have the black bars. but in general it will be automatic.

How much memory are you runnng on your PVR?

I'm not talking about general use machines that have GB-PVR running on them. I have built a dedicated box that is to run in the lounge. It presently is using 512MBytes of DDR (2700 speed) ram and has space for one more stick. A second stick will enable the dual channel mode on the nForce 2 chipset, which may or may not be a good thing!

When I bring the unit out of standbye, or access the unit after a recording, the hard drive thrashes away and it takes some time before I can get the desktop back, even when 'comskip' is not using all those cpu cycles. Would more memory help? If I transfer an mpeg file over the network, every 500meg or so of file the network transfer slows down to a crawl for a few seconds, then goes back to normal.

Oh I'm running XP SP2, an XP2400+ and a 160Gig Samsung drive, not the quietest when the heads are seeking I must say!

Got problems with 0.91 and recording bda. All worked fine in previous version (once I'd trackdown a suitable demultiplexor) but the new version records 0kb files again :-(

I noticed the new box on the "Misc" tab where you could choose the multiplexer but Ive tried all 3 and none work.

Any ideas?

I had problems with some menu items, the weather and shutdown plug-ins did not work at all. Now it seems that the reason is that gbpvr.exe is started with the start.exe command from a command script I have made. This script updates the XMLTV file just before loading gbpvr.exe with the UdateEPG parameter.

If I start gbpvr.exe by using the shortcut from the Start Menu (Start -> Programs -> GB-PVR -> GB-PVR) all menu items is working great.

Does any of you developers know the difference in starting up the program by either a shortcut in Start Menu og by a command script using the start.exe ?

I have tried to chage the working directory to where GB-PVR is installed. That didn't do any difference.
