ME Skin
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2005-03-17, 07:11 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

Personally, I LOVE the Media Experience Skin--it's beautiful. Anyway, one thing that I wish it had is a recording panel (is that what they call it??). Basically, some of the skins have something on the top or the side that says "recording soon" or they show what is currently recording. I would love that to be included in the next release of the ME Skin.

  Back-to-back issue?
Posted by: stefan - 2005-03-17, 06:53 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (18)

First off, I'm still using 0.90.10, but I can't find anything in the changelogs for 0.91 about this, so I assume it hasn't :-) If the behavior is different in 0.91, my apologies.

Previously, when you schedule to recordings from say 7.00 to 7.30 and 7.30 to 8.00 respectively, any padding at around 7.30 was ignored, and the first one would end at 7.30, the next one start at 7.30. Since I haven't had the time to investigate this, I don't know what the status on this behavior is in recent versions of gbpvr.

What I did yesterday was to first schedule a show at 7.30 to 8.00. Then, we were watching a show (not through gbpvr, though) that was on between 7.00 and 7.30, and then my kid demanded my attention, so I decided I'd let gbpvr record the rest of the show. This was at around 7.20. So I entered the EPG and asked it to do a quick record of the show. I have a 5 minute post padding on by default. This first recording then started, and went on until 7.35, at which time show number two started to record. The two shows were on different channels, if that makes any difference.

Is this behavior by design? And does it apply to two shows scheduled on beforehand, or only when you start recording a show after it's already begun?  [Image: tounge.gif]

  FM signals carried by cable operators
Posted by: bouchecl - 2005-03-17, 06:52 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi,

I a newbie in this field, so please do not flame me if has been discussed to death.

I'm buying a PVR250 (retail) and I plan to set up a box in my home as an experimental PVR with GB-PVR. Now, in phase I of my plan, I will hook up my coax to the Hauppauge card. Up here in Canada, cable operators carry 30 FM signals in the 88-108 MHz range (cable 95, 96 and 97).

So here is the question: without resorting to a specialized FM tuner, would it be possible to hack the registry to tune in to those frequencies, using FreqCopy or otherwise?

Thanks in advance

Claude

sub would it be possible to change these things in the tv guide/live tv guide
<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"><SpecialElement name="TimePeriods" loc="66,338" />
<SpecialElement name="SelectedProgrammeTitle" loc="120,1385" size="540,20"/>
<SpecialElement name="SelectedProgrammeDesc" loc="120,1403" size="540,60"/>
<SpecialElement name="CurrentTime" loc="550,19"/>
to
<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">
<CompositeImage name="Background" size="720,480">
<DrawImage filename="miniguide.png" loc="0,336" size="720,132"/>
<DrawText text="@TimePeriods" loc="66,338" size="450,26" textStyle="TimesPeriods" align="Left"/>
<DrawText text="@SelectedProgrammeTitle" loc="120,1385" size="450,26" textStyle="SelectedProgrammeTitle" align="Left"/>
<DrawText text="@SelectedProgrammeTitle" loc="120,1403" size="450,26" textStyle="SelectedProgrammeDesc" align="Left"/>
<DrawText text="@CurrentTime" loc="550,19" size="450,26" textStyle="CurrentTime" align="Left"/>
</CompositeImage>
just make things a little bit more flexible.

also is there anyway to adjust the vertical alignment in the draw text, ie valign=&quot;centre&quot; (centre, doesnt seem to work either).

and is there anyway to pass an image to &lt;DrawImage filename=&quot;@Image&quot; ... /&gt; that doesnt stretch the image to fill the defined size, but rather maintains the aspect ratio of the passed image and does a best fix. eg &lt;DrawImage filename=&quot;@Image&quot; mode=&quot;BestFit/Stretch/Actual&quot;.../&gt;.

  Accesing GB-PVR with MPV
Posted by: puck1967 - 2005-03-17, 06:05 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

Excuse my newness and ignorance. I have installed GB-PVR with my PVR-500 and MPV. I can not figure out how to access GB-PVR from the TV using the MPV's remote. I can use it from my PC and watch/record TV. I have also not figured out how to pause live TV. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Recording @ right time but random channel
Posted by: Dustin Mustangs - 2005-03-17, 04:16 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Bad things have been happening with me and GBPVR lately and I am sure to blame. First gbpvr would go to the windows installer anytime I would start it or the config or anything really. I searched and found posts regarding this that stated sometimes this happens when shortcuts are moved. Well, this was not what I had done and I even went to the extent of trying to get it to start from the .exe's that are in the program folder...still no go. So I decide to scrap everything (maybe not my best idea) and do an over install (already had latest ver.) after backing up my config.xml and my gbpvr.mdb. Well, there was no gbpvr.mdb to be found, just one that was close...like gbpvr-reinstated.mdb or something. So I backed that one up instead. Did the reinstall, changed the file name of the .mdb to what I thought it should of been and tried again. So now it at least starts with out going to the windows installer, but I have a new slew of problems. I also needed to do a manual update of my epg cause the guide was empty.

First, all of my recordings showed up but some have a failed in red after them and others are fine. Can't find any rhyme or reason to why some fail and some haven't.

Second, and the title of this post, my recordings seem to be happening on a random channel. For example, my little lady has general hospital set up to record each day and before now this has always worked fine. Today it recorded at the right time but it recorded channel 3 instead of channel 5. Then I tested it tonight by recording the fox 47 news at 10 (channel 7). Again it recorded at the right time but the wrong channel, this time it picked channel 55 (mtv). The guide shows them in the proper channel and we used it to set up these recordings.

Unless the failed recordings can be saved, I figure I mind as well just completly start from scratch 'cause I've got nothing but time to loose, but I don't know how. Maybe that isn't needed and this can all be fixed some other way...

Please help, laymen terms and directions only please (threads on this board comonly go right over my head, lol.) Thanks for any thoughts you can offer.

  Does Live preview Mode apply to MVP's?
Posted by: Bigted - 2005-03-17, 03:36 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

Just wondering if Live Preview works with MVP's and if
so does it provide the same benefits as viewing the PC monitor
directly.

I had Live Preview checked but my MVP's would not be able to
get Live TV. All I got was a black screen.
It looked like it was trying to do something but justs stops. Recording was fine.
Unchecked Live Preview and all is well again?

Any comments?

  Video Encoding
Posted by: sjwaste - 2005-03-17, 03:26 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (7)

Alright, so I'm going to get going on my encoder plugin. I wanted to get some opinions on initial codec support.

Since GB-PVR is primarily Windows-based, does it seem feasible to use the WMV format for archival purposes? Implementation is by far the easiest, as MS has a Windows Media Encoder SDK, and its a trivial amount of code to use. I'd like to know if it makes sense to you developers to use, though. I'd eventually like to add support for XviD and DivX, which seem as though they'll be slightly more difficult.

On a more broad note, does anyone have experience with writing a video encoder? I figure I might be able to use libavcodec, which mencoder seems to have done nicely, but it's somewhat buggy, at least on the machines i've used it on. Any advice on that front? It's desirable because it supports these

Does anyone have any input or advice from having already crossed this bridge?

  Who is the adjust master?  I challenge you!
Posted by: capone - 2005-03-17, 03:21 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Actually, I was wondering if anyone had a good screen test site/short vid/app.

I have monitor test and another one, but they are all for monitors. To give credit where it's due, MCE had some short video loops you went through to adjust the color. I have to admit they worked well.

It's alos tough since the TV seems to a lot brighter than say a DVD rip or downloaded video. Is there a reg or file that can be gotten to play w/ that for GB?
