Version 0.22.7 missing a lot of recordings
Posted by: glassvial - 2004-11-18, 02:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I don't know what happened but since I've upgraded to version 0.22.7, it's been missing a ton of my season records. This is NOT due to a problem with conflicts. I just went in and manually added about 6 showings of a program that's on my season record list that GB-PVR would not have recorded unless I told it to. Anybody else have this issue, or know if a fix is coming (hopefully very very very soon??). This is driving me nuts having to constantly check to make sure my programs are being recorded.

  GBPVR Widget Library
Posted by: jasonf - 2004-11-18, 02:00 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (17)

I'm putting together a library of widgets (data structures, controls that will render to the screen, etc) to at least help me to refactor some of my code, and to make future development a little easier.

I'm wondering what the interest level would be among plugin developers to have a common library of reusable components. I mean, it's easy enough to just copy and paste code from one plugin into another, but the result tends to be a little messy.

When I say "control", I mean a component that is very much like Windows form controls. The developer can set properties that effect the rendered output without necessarily worrying about how the details of the control is implemented.

For instance, a Frame control would have certain properties (size and position, border style, color, etc), and when told to render, would draw a frame on the screen. This alone is not much different than sub's DrawRoundRect() method, except that a Frame control might be able to draw both a square and a rounded rectangle, selectable by a setting of the current skin. The plugin designer would just need to create a Frame object, set properties, then tell the Frame to render when it needs to. In addition, maybe the Frame is a container control (a control that contains other controls).

If there is interest, and others would like to contribute to the library, then perhaps I'll set up a SourceForge project for it to enable the proper collaboration (and to facilitate public access to the latest codebase).

Slow live TV with PVR 150
Posted by: rcrockett - 2004-11-18, 08:57 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Whew! Finally a combination of username and password worked. There is a major bug with the login system for these forums.

Anyway, this program is great for recording, but I am using an Hauppauge PVR 150 MCE and the Live TV performance is horrible. It takes good 30 seconds to load the first time and then about 5 seconds to change channels. Is there any fix for this?

  Logging
Posted by: janviet - 2004-11-18, 08:24 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

Hi,

I used Logger.Info() calls for testing and debugging when working on my LCD plugin on my development system. As soon as I moved the plugin to my target system (the only one with tuners) for some final testing, my output would not appear in any of the GB-PVR log files. Only after setting the number of MVP servers to autostart to 0 (in the playback tab of the config application), did I get back my output.

I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to work, but I wanted to post this to help others who might be struggling with this.

Regards,

Jan

dongle.bin -- use original Hauppauge or GBPVR one?
Posted by: cannondale0815 - 2004-11-18, 06:15 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (7)

After buying a MediaMVP today, I've been reading up a little bit on it in this forum and came accross the mention of the dongle.bin file which, if I understand it correctly, is the software that gets uploaded to the MVP the first time it starts up. I also read conflicting statements that say you should use the original Hauppauge software for the first-time start of the device, whereas other people mention that this doesn't need to be the case. My question: What's wrong with the dongle.bin that is included in the GB-PVR installation? Is this a custom one, or is it an original one from Hauppauge? Is there any advantage to using one over the other?

I never installed the Hauppauge software, yet everything is working fine so far with my GB-PVR / MediaMVP solution. Therefore I suppose I should stick with the old Sysadmin wisdom of "never touch a running system"?

Also, I have a revision D3A device. Does the revision matter with regard to general functionality/reliability and specifically the interaction with GB-PVR? I read that the revision D3 was a bad one.

Thanks
Jan

Forum registration issues (for some passwords)
Posted by: cannondale0815 - 2004-11-18, 02:18 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi!

This is my first post, and oddly enough slightly off-topic. However, I thought it was a good idea to point out that when using a "." (dot) in your password when registering for this forum, a confirmation message claims that you have successfully registered, yet upon login attempts the site tells you that your user name is nowhere to be found. Took me four tries (each time using the same login name) until I tried a password that doesn't contain a dot.

Just thought this might be useful information for the maintainer of these forums.

And now on-topic: I am so thrilled to be using GB-PVR. This is such cool stuff, especially in conjunction with the MediaMVP. I bought my Hauppauge PVR-150MCE card a few days ago for under 70 bucks and was researching on the web as to how to best utilize it. I was considering bying SnapStream, but that would have meant that my computer would have been blocked while watching TV. Now with GB-PVR and the MediaMVP, this is just the coolest solution under the sun. A BIGGGG thanks to the developer(s) for creating such a great yet free product. I am thrilled.

Some feature suggestions of mine are upcoming in a future post, but I will do some research in these forums first to see if they have already been suggested or answered.

Thanks!

Possible to Minimize to System Tray w/ 350?
Posted by: RobDMB - 2004-11-18, 01:07 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I am currently using a pvr 350 for my card and using the tv output with the osd to use it on my tv. I also use direct remote access so that I can use the remote to control gb-pvr even when the program is not in focus. I was wondering if it was possible to minimize the program to the system tray and still use the tv out of the pvr 350? If not maybe this could be implemented in the future if it isnt too hard. -rob

  TV Guide page feature?
Posted by: SuperDave - 2004-11-18, 12:26 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (5)

I was wondering if it is possible to page up/down using the remote in TV Guide mode? or is this a wishlist item?

Also, when I am in TV Guide mode, & other modes, I notice the images are off the screen on top & bottom. Does anyone know what I need to tweak to correct this?

I am using a PVR-250 with the MVP and the Hauppauge remote. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! [Image: smile.gif]

  Time Bias
Posted by: RodJ - 2004-11-17, 06:31 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

It seems that when I sync my time with the Internet time that my shows get cut a few seconds off the end of the program. A "Time Bias" that would always bias the recording time could cure this if possible. I love GB-PVR - GREAT JOB
