  Mapping of remote control buttons
Posted by: Dai - 2004-11-05, 12:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I think there may be a problem with the mapping of remote buttons to keys when using the remote directly rather than using IrRemote.

The Music Albums plugin uses the Red button for Page up. I find that pressing Control R on the keyboard works but pressing the Red button has no effect.

The strange thing is that pressing the rewind button does a page up.

I believed that the coloured buttons were mapped to Ctrl-R, B, G,Y (for Red, Blue, Green, Yellow).

But also Forward and rewind seem to give Ctrl-F and Ctrl-R.

So two things map to Ctrl-R.

Nothing else seems to use the Red button so I can't check if the problem occurs elsewhere.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Note: I'm not using IrRemote.

Thanks

Dai

  Hauppauge WinTV NOVA-t PCI
Posted by: atrotter - 2004-11-05, 09:15 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Hi,

I have a Hauppauge WinTV NOVA-t PCI card to receive "Freeview" in the UK.

Card works fine, but presumably not supported by
this package.

It comes with "record" functionality but this records
the raw received MPEG-2 stream to disk. So far I can
only replay this using the supplied Hauppauge software.
What I really want to be able to do is edit the saved
files (just to top & tail really) and dump to DVD.

Any advice, or anything I can do.

Thanks
Albert
Wiltshire, UK.

  I am having a problem
Posted by: s0laris - 2004-11-05, 04:25 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

Ok this is what I have

I have 2 sources.. Both use the same PVR350 card

one is for cable tv input
second is for svhs to be used with my Bell Expressvu sattelite receiver (set up with USB-UIRT)

I have zap2it reading in the cable tv and sattellite channels perfectly..

I can change to any channel on cable or satelliet and it works flawless..

HOWEVER I have 2 channels on the Sattelite (foreign) that Zap2it does not have in their listing. So I did an Add to the EGP list and named the channel and said what channel it was.

I go to tv-listing and see the newly added channel at the very bottom with NO timelistings (of course).. but I cannot select that channel.

I tried live tv then typin in the channel , but it will not change to it no matter what I do, and I cant schedule a recording on it too.

Welcome to the new Documentation forum
Posted by: blader_se - 2004-11-04, 10:09 PM - Forum: Forum Issues & Documentation - Replies (11)

Hi all,

I have started a wiki with the goal that we all can help sub in creating the much sought-after GB-PVR manual. It's not much there yet, I have recreated subs Quick start guide and FAQ, but I have also created a structure that I belive in, throwing in some (old) texts as starting points.

Sub has also started this forum, so that we can discuss all things related to documentation here.

The wiki can be found at http://www.gbpvr.com/pmwiki

You are all invited to take a look and give feedback here.

  Flat Blue, High Visibility Skin
Posted by: tieke - 2004-11-04, 09:42 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

Just a note about this one (sub has just put it up on the plugins page) - it's still a bit of a work in progress, as a couple of the screens (such as the recording options sub-menu) don't yet entirely support the larger font sizes I am using.

I'm basically using it because most of the other skins were a bit difficult to read on my smallish TV, so if anyone else is having a similar problem, this might be worth a look.

cheers,

tieke

Stopping the MVP service whilst recording
Posted by: paulcaley - 2004-11-04, 09:35 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

Is it possible to restart the MVP service, whilst GBPVR is recording.

My MVP has been upnplugged and is trying to boot, but it is failling so I wanted to kill the GBPVR MVP bit so i can restart the Huauauauuaupauge software to get it to boot!

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Paul

  UK cable tv control
Posted by: buzz - 2004-11-04, 09:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (29)

I have a PVR-350 and unfortunately have to use an external set top box to decode the cable in my area (UK provider is NTL). Has anyone got experience in controling the STB without the use of an IR blaster. The stb is a pace and has a usb socket on the back, there must be a way of connecting the computer to the stb without dangling IR blasters all over the place.

Anyone got any ideas, if not how well do the blasters work.

  Tip for "Music Albums" users...
Posted by: thebartman - 2004-11-04, 09:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi all,

first, thanks to the author of GB-PVR for this absolute
great piece of software.
Second, thanks to the authors of all of the nice plugins
for GB-PVR (actually i am translating the weather plugin
to german, including all the units).
Today i installed the Music Albums plugin. Attached, you
will find the translated (german) texts to copy them into
your language.xml. Aditionally i changed the texts inside the
pictures. Just put them to the skin\musicalbum directory.
If you´re searching for legal cover-jpgs to use it with the
plugin, you will find them (or most of them) at
http://www.alphamusic.com.
Just search for an album (cd), follow the link of the search
result an click the shown cover to enlarge it. With 'Save as'
you can get and use it as 'Default.jpg' in your album folder.

Best regards, Thorsten
