The MediaMVP Model 86001 Rev D1 I bought a week ago claims to support DivX. Â I have not verified that because I don't have any DivX files. Â
However, after installing the 2.2.22202 update, I discovered the MVP can now play my WMA files. Â (That's good news for me because I have ripped all my CD's to WMA instead of MP3.)
I don't know how they did it, but I hope earlier models can be upgraded.
I've tried shoshifter:
Although I can see the prgrams playing on the channels as showshifter scans for them, it tells me none are found
Beyond TV:
All I get is vertical black and white lines
GB-PVR:
just a bunch of static.
Hauppauge's site tells me it wont work with ANY third party PVR software becasue something about the PVR-250 records to MPEG before its outputted and that conflicts with what the third party software is trying to do.
"The WinTV-PVR-250/350 records directly to MPEG using onboard Hardware encoders. Most third party capture applications are looking to attach to a card or driver that supports uncompressed video recordings. Like AVI files. These programs cannot capture video directly using the PVR-250/350."
I dont understand at all. I bought the PVR-250 because everyone said they suported it. Including GB-PVR
the icon that displays whether something is recording or not (changes between green and red) has no name. Now whilst this is sad purely on the basis of little notification icon itself which I'm sure must be getting teased by all the other notification icons it also screws up windows. I have my icons auto-hide, but i don't want little no-namey to auto-hide. Normally I could right click on the task bar, click on properties and then customise. This works, but no-namey keeps on loosing its special non-auto-hide ability. I'm thinking this is because it has no name; possibly all the other icons are stealing its special ability from it. So please, give no-namey a name.
Possible names include:
1.gbpvr recorder icon
2.gbpvr
3.timothy
4.theiconformallyknownasthaticonwithoutaname
Ok this is doing my nut in. If I play any of my MP3 collection in GB PVR, their are distortional pops for lack of a better word. Playing it in Media player before GB PVR kicks in works fine. Just seems after I've loaded GB PVR.
Does this use its own CODEC, or can anyone explain what might be the source of my woes?
Gonna try and reinstall next I think as its driving me mad. Doesn't seem to effect my vids though just MP3s.
Hardware:
Shuttle SN45G2 Nforce 2 Ultra using the Onboard Card.
Hauppauge PVR350
XP 3000 +
256 Meg of Ram (looking to be upgraded).
160 gig HD.
Tried latest drivers, and old drivers on the Nforce Audio still no avail.
I just bought the Chaintech AV-710 audio card, and planning to use the high-sample rate channels, but I know that windows uses internally 'kmixer' or whatever, to pass all audio to the audio card. I know this mixer downgrades all sampling rates to 41KHz or something. Some players have options to bypass the 'kmixer' and use what is called in windows 'Kernel Streaming' (players like winamp, foobar2000 ...etc.).
is there a way to configure GB-PVR (maybe config file or something) to bypass the kmixer and use Kernel Streaming, or ASIO mode or whatever?
I am very critical about the audio quality, since I play a lot of music video DVDs from the harddisk, and any degradation caused by windows or what not is not favorable.
Is there a way to use the winamp plugin (kinda like the meedio winamp plugin) to resolve this?
1 - would anyone be interested in an italian language pack?
2 - where do I find / how do I install the wintvCap plugin? For some reasons, I would prefer to continue using wintvcap instead of the direct recording...
- direct recording is giving me problems of both quality (jumpy, messy, lo-quality recording) and size (about double the size of the wintvcap one).
- I don't have quite the time to fine-tune the GB-PVR configurations for my 250, as I did for WinTvCap
- I would also like to keep nomenclature / files consistent with the old ones
For this, I would like to use the WinTVcap plugin. But. I have not been able to select it as a source. How do I do that in the latest GB-PVR version?
First of all let me express my heartfelt thanks for this wonderful app !!!
I installed pvr-350 drivers including the ir.exe driver on XP. I have added gbpvr to startup menu so it starts up automatically on power on. I can see the IR icon also. I pressed some button on the remote (dont recall which one) and another window popped forward (MVP server process window) so I know the remote works. I have also used the remote and the IR cable on another linux installation. So no hardware probs.
What can I do to get remote support ? Please help me I am so close to getting an ideal pvr box in my living room. Thanks !!!

I'm on NTL, and I have a Samsung NTL box. If I select a channel such as 11 or 922, all that gets sent is 1 or 92, however 12 and 923 work perfectly fine. I believe this may be to do with the way the remote works on the NTL box which I noticed when using Girder; the IR signals alternate from one to another and back for the same button consecutively (don't ask), and it could be very simply remedied by having an option for people with this problem to send any identical consecutive numbers twice, so 11 would become 111 (or 1(11)) and 111 would become 11111 (or 1(11)(11)). So if a number is the same as the previous one, send it twice then do the same for the next number.
