I'm trying to use NextPVR with dvbguide to provide me an xmltv file. My batch file in the script looks like this:
-
cd C:\Applications\dvbguide096beta
dvbguide -aT -fX -c730000
-
When I select xmltv as an option in the details of a channel, select
-
XMLTV
C:\Applications\dvbguide096beta\dvbepg.xml
-
However, the mapping field stays blank, the drop down box is empty. I can close the dialog box with OK. If I then open the details for this channel, an unhandled exception pops up, the details are below:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

What I am doing wrong?
The reason I want to use dvbguide is that I have some channels on a different carrier frequecy that are full HD versions of other channels. That carrier frequency does not contain EPG, so I use DVBguide to get the epg for the carrier frequency that has epg but not the full hd channels and was hoping to select the non-hd channel in the mapping.
Been a long time reader/lurker and have gotten virtually all my questions answered from the wiki or forums, but recently I've discovered something that has stumped me.
I am running the latest version of NextPVR, and the SAF decoder pack is installed. Everything is working perfectly except for two channels... History and Comedy.
In NextPVR, when I try to watch the History channel, it just stays on the guide, everything seems to freeze, but I can hear the audio. Video never comes on, I am just looking at the guide screen with the History channel selected and 'Watch' clicked. Thats it - no video, but I do get the audio. The really strange thing is, that if I load up Kodi using NextPVR as the PVR add-on, I can tune to the History channel, it is green for the first second, but then it comes on, video and audio, no problems. Kodi seems pretty normal, but in NextPVR, It does take a while to get to that point - probably close to 30 or 45 seconds to even hear the audio. Much slower than tuning to a working channel. Makes me wonder if this is some type of a buffering issue, but only on two channels doesn't make much sense to me.
Comedy channel is even worse - it won't pull up video or audio. In Kodi, it freezes up everything and I get a message saying that NextPVR is no longer running, and I have to exit out and back in to get back to normal.
Everything else seems rock solid - recording, live TV, EPG, etc etc. I am really loving NextPVR, but I do enjoy the History channel quite often, and don't really like having to open up Kodi each time I want to view it. Comedy central I could pretty much care less about, but I am guessing it may be the same type of an issue, so wanted to at least provide that info as well.
Any ideas? I am not at the HTPC currently so cannot grab logs, but if anyone things that would help, I can get that done tonight.
I noticed the Ndigital log files are consistently posting as a debug "No additional EPG events available" during recordings. Everything is working properly, recordings, live TV, etc.. but curious why the larger logs.
I have only tried to pause Live TV twice since I started using the NextPVR/Kodi combo. If memory recalls, I paused it months ago and it worked but I remember that it was ok hitting play but rewind or FF wasn't working like I hoped and I don't remember seeing a "Live" button anywhere. I am more concerned about tonights attempt. I hit pause and came back after about 20 minutes. When I hit play it started playing fine but froze after about 5 seconds. Completely froze. had to hard shutdown Kodi. We were scrambling to get the kodi back up and the show back on to try and at least catch the end so i didn't get a log. I went to the Recording section in kodi just to check but there was nothing in there. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Tried to fit other blackout scenarios to my situation but just couldn't. So...
From initial launch of NextPVR, I click Menu then Live TV. The screen shows live picture and audio but the video disappears after one or two seconds. NPVR window contents are as shown, audio is normal:
If I maximize the window, this is what I see on the desktop, audio/video is normal:
Finally, if I use the alt-enter keystroke, the windows reduces to the following, normal video/audio:
Selecting "Watch" from the TV Guide results in the same behavior. Recording TV is perfectly normal.
Attached is relevant log file. I hope...
I am making fledgling steps with RPi2, Kodi, X-NEWA so bear with me while I make some comments/observations.
I installed X-NEWA eventually although had to have a few goes before it downloaded the repository. Wondered if the Video was still up to date actually, as it looks different?
Anyhow, got it installed, then could not open X-NEWA on 127.0.0.1 despite being able to access 127.0.0.1:8866 from Windows.
Eventually got it going using the server IP Address directly (which btw oddly does not appear to be "sticky" in the settings, but it is there behind).
Got into the Native NextPVR which is pretty limited for my use (Guide is all scrunched up too?), then got into X-NEWA. Ahhhh... familiarity.
Haven't gone any further than that for now as am looking at shares.
I just noticed that NextPVR automatically chose a different channel (and later time) to record a show that was in conflict with another show that was on the recording schedule tonight.
I thinks that's a great feature, but unfortunately, NextPVR chose a channel that is not broadcast in HD. There are HD channels that it could have chosen.
Is there a way to tell NextPVR to prefer certain channels when choosing an alternate airing to record?
If not, is my only option to delete the non HD channel from NextPVR?
I recently got a trial for HBO Now, and then set about watching easily on my TV. Turns out there's no HBO Now app for my samsung smart bluray player. I saw that Fry's had the Roku SE on promo for the $25 black friday price, so I picked one up. Worked ok, but wasn't really impressed... slow as hell in some spots, and the ecosystem seemed limited. So I looked further... what I really wanted was a device that could do Netflix, HBO, Kodi, maybe even play some games (but I'm way cheap). A bit of searching revealed the Nexus Player would supposedly do all that, and it was on-sale at Best Buy for $50 (funny how a free trial of HBO lead to spending $25 which lead to spending $50!).
I setup the Nexus Player last night, and initially it seemed very impressive. However as the night wore on, warts appeared. First, it routinely lost connection to my WiFi network, sometimes every minute or two, other times running fine for 30 minutes or more. No other device in the house has any issue with my WiFi that I've noticed. A few times it seemed to just quit what it was doing for no reason, and once it locked up and I had to pull it's plug. After installing the last of at least 10 system updates, each of which required a reboot and install time, it lost communication with the remote. Fortunately I had installed the Google remote app on my smartphone, so I proceeded with that for awhile, until a message came up on screen saying the Android Remote Service had crashed and that remote stopped working too. About 15 minutes later that message disappeared and the phone remote started working again... I watched a few more things and finally went to bed. Today I sorted out how to re-pair the included remote.
I'm going to pick up an Ethernet adapter and an OTG cable at Fry's tonight to solve the network connection issues, and hopefully now that the updating is done and the remote is re-paired that issue will be gone along with the random quits/lockup (those all happened before all the updates were in).
Anyone else have one of these things, got any comments, tips, whatever?
Is anyone using a G7 HP Microserver as NPVR server with Windows 8.1, 10 or 2012 R2? I used mine with Vista for several years then upgraded to Windows 8 last year without problems. However it seems there is a problem with the 2011 BIOS fitted which means that with Windows 8.1, 2012 R2 and 10 the network card doesnât connect to the network.
HP released updated BIOS to fix the problem in 2013 but now it is only available to users with a maintenance contract however it is possible to download the file elsewhere on the Internet. With the later BIOS I can install Windows 8.1 but the problem is that NextPVR does not see the server correctly even though the NPVR share is set to Everyone to have Full Control.
I donât use a Windows client but built one to fault find the problem. When the client starts up it gives error âUnable to communicate with the server SERVER-NAMEâ but behind it the TV Guide and Recordings are working. X-NEWA running on OpenElec does not see the server so starts WOL even though the KODI file manager can see the server and has R/W access to the NPVR share. With Widows 10 the situation is worse because it does not even share directories!!
I donât know if this is a fault with my server or a feature of this particular model. I had set up a temporary server on another computer while I tried to upgrade Windows but have now given up and gone back to Windows 8 which should be ok for a few years!
With the passing of each update, and given the sticky was written in Oct 2012 and updated Jun 2014, is sub's XBMC NextPVR plugin becoming closer and closer to the X-Newa one from Martin? If all I want is to reproduce NPVR but also have comskip work, with the black bars, is sub's XBMC NextPVR plugin (now) sufficient or do I still need X-NEWA to achieve this?
Q: COMSKIP IN KODI - is this still an issue - do I still have to:
