I've had this issue since 3.5.7 and still have the error in 3.6.6. I posted initially as part of the thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ServerName but it looks like that post got hijacked! :eek:So I'm creating a new post for this issue.
As I mentioned I've had the error since 3.5.7. That config was Windows 7 server on a gig link to the client. All my clients and I have three give the same error. I have since upgraded the server to Windows 10 and the issue persists. It only a nuisance bug but it should get looked at
I've uploaded client side logs
Thanks for a wonderful product in NPVR. Best support I've seen hands down on any product, commercial or otherwise in my 30 plus years as a PC enthusiast!
I am currently using BeyondTV 4 with a Hauppauge HVR-1600, s-video/analog audio connection. For various obvious reasons it's time to upgrade.
My needs are simple. I just want to capture programming from my Dish Network satellite receiver, in as high a quality as I can get. I want to use the EPG to schedule recordings. I am located in Atlanta, Georgia USA.
I have a fairly beefy Windows 7 64-bit server with multiple terabytes of drive space. I have ordered a Hauppauge Colossus 2 video capture card and an HDMI splitter that will purportedly strip HDCP. I will purchase a membership with Schedules Direct for my EPG source. My Dish receiver has both HDMI and component out, should my HDMI plans fall through.
Any holes in my plan? Any alternative recommendations? I considered the Rocket but was leery that recent firmware updates might break the HDCP stripping and would prefer an internal solution anyway. Suggestions/advice gratefully accepted, particularly from anyone with prior experience with Beyond TV.
I just got a Harmony 350. I have figured out how to get the remote to be understood by the PC with it's built-in IR Receiver. But I don't know how to map the keys to work with NPVR. Google has not helped me ;/ Can anyone help me?
If I am watching something and use the remote and press "record", I get a message on the screen that states "recording". OK, great. But if you check the guide, the recording shows it will stop at the end of the listing. How about a record button that I have had on many other devices that when you pressed record it would start recording and every time you pressed it again, it would show the recording time increased by 30 minutes. It would be nice for when sports pushes what you wanted to record and the guide just does not follow the correct time.
I have been using NextPVR for a few months and one feature I cannot get working is Genre Coloring under Misc 2. I have opened it several times and have only managed to get one color code set, despite making multiple changes. I am currently running v3.6.6. I have searched the forums but not hit on anything obvious. Is there a process other than using the Genre Coloring button under Misc 2? I feel like I am missing something. Thanks in advance.
I just installed a fresh copy of your software (latest version). I was able to see my tuner devices and successfully scanned for channels. However when I try to actually watch live TV, I get the error message "Unable to communicate with recording service".
I checked the NPVR log file, and it appears that the relevant entry is:
Quote:2016-01-03 21:30:02.541 [ERROR][1] Unexpected socket exception calling StartStream(): System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8968
This suggests some kind of internal port blocking: however I can not see what. I checked Windows Firewall, and confirmed that NextPVR was ticked as an allowed program. I then tried turning off Windows Firewall altogether - however the error still remains.
I have installed the program on a stand-alone computer: just trying to watch on localhost, so no network involved.
Please help. Since Microsoft has stopped support for Windows Media Centre, I can not install Windows 10 yet until I find a viable alternative which allows me to watch & record live TV on my computer. So far, no PVR software has worked properly.
I have npvr reading music, pictures and videos from an external hard drive. This is a new install on Windows 10. And I'm getting unhandled exception errors when accessing music and pictures but not videos. Even though all three folders are on the same drive.
I'm a big fan of using empty space to its best advantage:
I would like to recommend that the empty space on the right of the Recordings->Recurring Recordings screen be used to list currently scheduled events for the highlighted item on the left. Wouldn't have to page through the Recordings->Pending Recordings screen to check if a program is scheduled. Nice, huh?
[grease]NextPVR: One of the best applications I've seen in my 30+ years of operating a PC. Thank you! Great job![/grease]
I'm unable to schedule recordings from the guide or from the search function using NextPVR 3.6.6 backend and MrMC, a fork of Kodi, running on the AppleTV 4th gen. The front end on the AppleTV is fine otherwise, being able to pull in guide data, watch live tv, as well as recordings. The add-on version is 1.11.4.
Any ideas?
I realize that MrMC isn't the same as Kodi/XMBC but wasn't sure where else to post it.
EDIT: Another instance of Kodi 15 is able to hook into the same backend and schedule recordings without problems. That instance of the add-on is 1.10.8. However that instance of Kodi is running on the same machine as the backend. So maybe a firewall thing communicating from the AppleTV? No idea.
