Can the earlier version be installed over 1.3.11?

If a clean install is needed, are there any issues when completely removing GBVPR?

I won't bore you with my reasons for wanting to do this - suffice to say I came close to kicking my PC to death last night after upgrading to 1.3.11.

thanks.

thanks.

I had some severe problems upgrading to 1.3.x from 1.2.13. It took me months before I was able to successfully make the jump.
During that time, I went back and forth many times, without a problem. I kept a copy of the gbpvr folder for 1.2.13 called gbpvr-1.2.13 and one for 1.3.9 (later 1.3.11) named gbpvr-1.3.x. All I had to do was stop the recording service, close the gbprvr tray program, rename the folder to gbpvr and restart those programs (or enter and exit config which restarts them automatically on exit.)

In case it helps you: I had a variety of problems and they always seemed to strike in multiples - I won't bore you with them, except this one: For some reason, I had one of the "ignore errors" options ticked in the BDA digital config of my Hauppauge HVR-1600. It was needed for 1.2.13, but played havoc with 1.3.x. If you have one of those option boxes ticked - try removing it.

I'd also recommend that you backup copy the entire gbpvr directory before trying an install of 1.2.13 on top. I think the gbpvr.db3 and config.xml files should work OK during a downgrade, so if an install on top does cause trouble, you should be able to install fresh and copy those files over.

Good luck, and you might want to wait for sub and/or others to comment in case I've led you astray.

Well, I have to say I'm very glad I followed the advice of the wiki page and saved copys of config.xml and gbpvr.db3 from 1.2.13 before doing anything else.

Trying to roll back by Installing 1.2.13 over 1.3.11 didn;t work, the install bombed out with some windows error or other.

However, after a complete uninstall of 1.3.11 and a clean out of the registry, then a fresh install of 1.2.13 my problems weren't over - tuning/channel mapping just wouldn't work, a different channel list with each scan, always missing out certain stations, notably BBC 3 and 4.

Copying the files back gave me back the original channel list, the only thing now is tha BurnDVDx2 is broken.

BTW, the main issue I had with 1.3.11 was that the PDVD7 decoder was pretty much unusable with it, and its the only one I've found to give watchable results on a PC monitor with interlaced video (IOW most TV).

That's always my first step before I make any changes.

Did you stop the GBPVR Recording Service and the Tray app first?

Did you install the survival thread patches? They dealt with some config/scanning issues.
