WinTV PVR 250 unable to tune in most stations

Hi everyone,

GB-PVR seems to work very well except for one small problem. I am unable to see any video or hear any sound on almost all channels when I use Live TV. All i get for a picture is static. Channels 14 and 15 come in very well though. Anyone have any ideas? I've set my software decoder to the nonCSS one installed with the Hauppauge card.

Which country are you in? What type of card capture card do you have? If you run the tuning assistant, do most of your channels tune in?

I am in Canada and my TV Tuner is a WinTV-PVR 250. I can watch all of my stations using Hauppauge's WinTV2000 application but the same channels do not work in GBPVR. I tried running the Tuning Assistant application but it only picks up channels 14 and 15 (out of ~70). The tuning application actually says it finds a few other stations but they are only static. Most of the channels it just skips over.

try switching from cable - antenna or vice versa, i could only pick up like 3 channels on antenna but all my channels on cable.

I think I'm having a similar problem. I'm using a paper clip for an antenna because I'm in the middle of a house remodel so I'm stuck in the basement without access to my main attena. I can receive 3 UHF stations from near perfect to a bit snowy in the WinTV200 application. When I use GB-PVR in Live TV mode the best station comes in with perfect sound but a 1 frame per second update rate with distorted MPEG macroblocks.

Also, how do I change the station. I have not found a user guide for this tool. When I use my old (not the new one) Hauppauge control to change the channel it has no effect. The only way I found to change the LiveTV channel is to fire up WinTV2000, set the channel then exit and start up GP-PVR.

I downloaded new PVR-250 drivers and now it works. The only problem is that the picture is fuzzier than when in WinTV 2000 and also compared to the Tunning Assistant. The UHF channel 22 (in the US) works pretty good in Antenna mode. It is not found in Cable mode.

When I pause live TV and then resume there are frames dropped. When using the WinTV 2000 application it is smooth. I have a 0.6 GHz (600 MHz) PIII. Maybe I need a faster computer to use this tool?
