Hmmm, I guess I haven't poked around the GB-PVR dongle.bin configuration.

When I load the new Hauppauge dongle.bin, I get yellow bar AND volume bar AND %-file-played bar.

When I load the GB-PVR dongle.bin I get no MVP-source overlay feedback at all. The FF, REW, Volume functions work as expected, there's just no screen display.

Is this just pilot error on my part? Have something to do with that "transparent" flag in the GB-PVR "MediaMVP" tab?

Thanks for the update.

It seems the only option is to install the software.

The software starts out as a self-extracting ZIP archive, which is accessible if you use the right app to open it (don't just double click the executable).

HtV is right: WinRAR will let you extract just the dongle.bin. I believe WinZIP will do the same. Might be possible to get XPs embedded ZIP support to help but you'd probably have to rename the file (from .exe to .zip).

I'm not a big fan of Hauppauge software apps and so I haven't touched their MediaMVP package, other than extracting the firmware dongle.

By default it doesnt show much info on the MVP. The MVP is pretty underpowered and performs poorly when the OSD is on the screen, so this is kept to a minimum.

If you press the blue button or pause, do you see the OSD?

That's fair. I could probably get used to it, or simply do what I do and go back and forth between Hauppauge and GB-PVR versions.

I also plan to give MVPMC's dongle.bin a try.

I'd have to work from memory here and don't want to confuse the subject. I'll have to wait until I set up my MPV semi-permanently to answer. Thus far all I've done with it is to temporarily power it up and test it on my living room floor. Wink

You dont have to get used it. If you'd prefer to have more OSD at the cost of performance, then you can always uncheck the 'force minimal OSD on MVP' setting in the config app. You'll then see the OSD every time you change channels, and every time you skip foward/back.

It just shows the same OSD as the Hauppauge dongle (ie, only when GB-PVR tells it to show something).

Ah! Very nice. I need to play with this and develop a preference.

OK, that's good to know. I want to see if I can take advantage of the MVPMC SlimServer client (that's my primary music service).

Thanks!
