Pixelation issue with HD PVR 2

Upload your logs, that could be the problem where the default bit rate is used and not the expected video bit rate.  Lower then SD.

So that should fix the issue?

Not for 720p channels. My general recommendation is to use the same values for all 3 settings. The decoder can takes the resolution of the first images it receives before the channel change which won't always match the channel you are recording unless you force the STB output.

With 1080i you could also be having trouble with deinterlacing but follow sub's instructions first since what I saw was poor quality and artifacts though not pixelation.

I made that settings change in the config file and it seems to look better. Also I have my satellite receiver resolution set to 1080i so maybe if I dial it back to 720p it would be better?

If you have the STB doing the deinterlacing it is less work for the devices that you use for playback. You can decide for yourself if there is a quality difference.
