Edit: Skip to the bottom edit.

So I just received my Hauppaugge 150 and got it working fine with the WinTV program. However, I'd rather be using GB-PVR, but I've run into some trouble. I need to use the IR blaster since I've got a Comcast Set-Top-Box but when I go into the Recording Source setting for GB-PVR and use the Channel Changer setting, I have no clue what to use!

"No channel changer" simply tries changing channels without touching the IR blaster (so it changes to some wonderful static) and Girder costs money (obviously I've taken the cheap solutions here). I began setting up HIPSend but it looks like that's meant for the MCE remote which I don't have (I do have the 45-button Hauppaugge remote). Can anyone point me in the right direction here? I've been all over the wiki but none of it mentions how to hook up this odd IR blaster to GB-PVR w/o the Girder option. Thanks in advance for the help.

Oh, also, is there any way I can get the audio/video input to work with a split COAX cable coming out of the cable box, or do I have to use the composite video in and thus have an odd time getting my audio to work? Thanks again!

Edit: Just figured out both after enough time tooling around with everything. I guess my last question is, is there any way to watch TV and record a different channel even though I have a set-top-box? I highly doubt I can but I figured I'd ask anyway now that the rest of this post is useless. Smile

Re your last question - no. The PVR150 can only do one thing at once - it is
RF or composite or s-video. Sadly not RF and composite etc.

And that's because the PVR-150 only has one MPEG2 encoder chip. It uses either one of its two video inputs or the built-in tuner to obtain a video signal that is then processed by the MPEG2 encoder chip.

The WIKI has some good information on this type of setup. Also search the forums for PVR150 IR. Actually the answer to your record and watch question is "maybe". Since you only have one cable box, you will only be able to watch OR record 1 channel, BUT if you should be able to use the tuner in your tv to watch non-digital channels. This will let your cable box feed the card while you watch TV through the TV tuner. You can also do this backwards. You set up GBPVR to use the PVR150's tuner for the non-digital channels set up a separate source in config just for the digital channels that you can only watch through your cable box (edit out all the analog channels for that source) (Also, make sure the other source ONLY has the analog channels). Split your coax and send one side to the TV tuner and the other to the PVR150. Then send the Svideo or composite out and the sound to the other input on the PVR150. Then, your system will only try to use the cable box for recording channels that are digital. The only time this becomes a problem is when you are watching something through your cable box and a scheduled recording starts that needs the cable box. Your IR will change the channel and you may think your TV is possessed!

I was able to get mine to work, first by setting it up in BlastCfg (a utility that installed with my Happauge setup) then configuring the Channel Changer settings to .exe changer plugin, and pointing that to Haupblast.exe.
