Hi,

I've been running a WinTV PVR USB2 device (it's the one that comes marketed as the MCE version) on both GBPVR and Windows MCE 2005 for over a year and it's been terrific in both. I configured HIP to work with both GBPVR and MCE and it changes channels just fine in each. I liked it so much that I got a second WinTV PVR USB2 (it's an MCE version identical to the first one I got) and I now have both USB tuners working very well in MCE, along with an ATI HDTV Wonder.

But alas, I have been unable to get GBPVR to recognize the second WinTV PVR USB2. I've tried setting up the second tuner in the config as device #2, and also tried it as device #1. But GBPVR will still only see the one tuner.

Has anyone gotten two of these babies to work together in GBPVR? Or does anyone have any ideas I might be able to try?

What happens when you try?

Can you run FilterCheck then attach the resulting FilterCheck.log: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...ostcount=6

I believe there is an issue if you run the 29xxx and 24xxx versions together. Check on the under neath of the case to see what versions you have.
PVR1: GBPVR 1.3.11|Pentium E5200|2GB|Hauppauge nova-t stick|nova-t usb2| tevion dvb-t100|250GB OS + 250GB HDD
PVR2: GBPVR 1.3.11|Sempron 2800+|768Mb|Geforce 5700le|Nebula pci|nova-t 909|nova-t 90002|nova-t stick| 300GB + 80 OS HDD

As for what happens when I try:

It seems as though GBPVR sees the original WinTV PVR USB2 as Device #1 AND Device #2. For instance, when I tell GBPVR to record something, it uses my original WinTV PVR USB2 (this is the one I've been running without issue for over a year) to record. Then, if I tell GBPVR that I want to watch another channel, it changes to that channel -- but by using the WinTV PVR USB2 that's doing the recording. In other words, GBPVR "thinks" it is sending signals to two USB tuners when in fact it's only sending to one.

I'll send a filtercheck log later tonight (I'm not home right now) . . .

Interesting point about the issue if you run the 29xxx and 24xxx versions together. I don't know what version numbers I'm using and I will check that later as well. Is that version mismatch a GBPVR issue with the WinTV PVR USB2? I ask because the tuners themselves run fine and both show up in Windows system properties and work seemlessly together under Windows MCE. And for those that may ask why I don't just use MCE . . . well, I like GBPVR better.

Ok, I've attached the filtercheck. Also, I checked on the bottom of the tuners themselves, and they are both versions 24012, so it would appear that I am not vulnerable to this supposed mismatch between 24xxx and 29xxx versions.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Your PVR150 should be configured as device#1. Your PVR USB2's should be configured as device #1 and #2.

If its not working when configured this way, then schedule three recordings for the same time (so all tuners will be used), then zip and attach the logs after the recordings have started.

That's how I have it configured. I've attached the logs as you suggest, which were taken while I was recording three shows at once.

I fiddled around with it some more last night and I think I've actually got GBPVR seeing both tuners now. The issue seems to be that I can't get HIP to fire from both the IR ports on the PVR150 Model 1062/232 remote dongle that I use. For some reason, I can only get IR #2 to work, and not IR #1. It's puzzling, because I followed the guide from the GBPVR wiki which spells out how to set up HIP to control multiple STBs. I've configured HIP to use IR #1 and IR #2, but yet it won't use both.

The problem it creates is this: when I record a channel, and then try and view or record another channel, HIP fires the command to the same STB, apparently thinking that it's sending the command to the other STB. All IR commands are being sent through IR #2; I've not been able to get it to fire from IR #1 in any scenario. (I know #1 is functioning because I use it in Windows MCE and it works fine, along with #2.)

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I'm real close to getting everything working in unison, if I could just get the darn IR #1 to fire.

Thankfully its sounding more like a HIP problem than a GB-PVR problem.

I've never used HIP myself, so unfortunately I'm not in a good position to answer questions about it. It seems to me though that HIP would have no way to tell which blaster you're talking about from the current command line you're using to HipSend.

Quote:2007-05-21 11:34:58.671 VERBOSE [6] Running: C:\hipsend\HipSend.exe 303
...
2007-05-21 11:36:01.062 VERBOSE [6] Running: C:\hipsend\HipSend.exe 304

Surely it'd need some command line to tell it you're interested blaster #2? or some device name for the second set top box?

Yeah, I agree that it's a HIP issue and not GBPVR. As for the command line . . . yes, it would seem that there should be some kind of a unique command being sent that would tell HIP to fire from #1 or #2. As always with HIP, I'm sure it'll come down to part trial and error, and part consultation with the HIP wiki. There must be a way, and I'll find it and report back.

Just out of curiousity . . . if you don't use HIP, what do you use? Girder?

I just use the built 'MCE Remote' support for allowing me to control GB-PVR with an MCE remote. I dont use an external cable box, so have no need for an IR Blaster.

When I used to use a cable box connected to a PVR500, I used my Actisys IR200L IR Blaster - which I'd done since way back in 2003 before the MCE existed.
