please sir support qam on Volar max h826 tuner
Posted by: chas - 2011-07-29, 08:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Attached is the log file. The tuner works in GBPVR, but with NPVR it only works as an ATSC device. I only have QAM signal sources. Thanks.

  Reinstall
Posted by: Sways - 2011-07-29, 05:59 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (25)

I run NPVR 2.1.5 on Windows Vista using a Hauppauge HVR 900 and it WAS running quite successfully.

I experienced a problem where the drive with my temp folder on ran out of space and I could not get NPVR to restart. I deleted the contents in the temp directory to make space but it still refused to restart.

So I uninstalled using uninstall.exe and then tried to reinstall. It keeps asking if one of the components on NPVR is still running and if I reinstall it doesn't work successfully. When I try to restart NPVR it just tells me that it has encountered an error.

It appears that despite uninstalling there is a part of NPVR still running.

Can anyone help?

  Colossus : live video freezing
Posted by: shaunpatrick77 - 2011-07-29, 03:09 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I'm testing my shiny new Colossus, and the video quality is great! h.264 is definitely an improvement over mpeg2 & my trusty hvr2200. However after 5-6 minutes the video freezes and cpu usage drops dramatically. Skipping back seems to fix it, at least for another few minutes, so it looks like the stream/timeshifting etc is not being lost.

I'm using the Arc Soft .264 video codec and LAV audio (only one that doesnt seem to cause major stuttering) as well as the latest drivers for everything. I can't see anything obvious in the logs, so I fear I'm staring into the dreaded codec hell (?)

As I run a HD5450 I initially wanted to use the AMD/ATI media codec pack (10.7), but that results in a black screen, only seems to work for MPEG2, not sure if they have included a working .264 codec with that.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks!

@channelIcon not available in all recording screen options
Posted by: Northpole - 2011-07-29, 11:51 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (2)

I was wondering if it was possible to have the ability to display the channel icon in the recurring recordings screen. Currently works in pending, Whats New, etc.

Thanks.

Dual Core 1.8ghz or Single Core 3.4ghz?
Posted by: hollow5555 - 2011-07-28, 08:37 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I'm building an NPVR box that I plan to make an NPVR "server". The goal is to have a single machine that records everything from an STB located in my bedroom, which will then be played back on a tv in my bedroom. At the same time I will have another NPVR box in a different room act as a client and occasionally use that box to watch the recordings on a tv in another room. I already have the client box built (an ultra-slim 3ghz P4.

For the "server" I have my choice of 2 machines. One is a dual core 1.8ghz P4 and one is a single core 3.4ghz P4. They both have the same amount of ram (4gb), so I'm just wondering which would be the better machine to use. The 3.4ghz is clearly faster, but the dual core on the other machine would help in the case of watching something from the client while the server is recording.

Any thoughts?

VLC not loading properly when called by postprocessing.bat
Posted by: Spidermonkey - 2011-07-28, 12:45 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

My postprocessing.bat is written to call VLC and transcode recordings it was working fine but a
a month or so ago it stop working.

If I drag a video file (generated by NPVR) on to the postprocessing batch file it works fine, transcodes with no problem.
When NPVR runs the batch file after a recording ends VLC doesn't load properly consequently doesn't transcode.
Watching task manager the postprocesing file starts VLC.exe but the process only consumes 1MB of memory, where it would
normally consume ~30MB suggesting its getting stuck loading for some reason.

Even calling just notepad via the postprocessing bat it does the samething, partially loads.

Has any one else had this problem or can shed some light on it?

I'm running Windows 7 64bit Home Premium, NPVR 2.1.5 with the lastest patches as per the survival guide.

  Delay before marking recording 'watched'
Posted by: liteswap - 2011-07-28, 11:29 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

I'd like to see a return of the useful feature that allows you to adjust the time you can watch a video before it's marked as watched. This was useful so you could quickly make sure the video worked and that it recorded what you asked for, without having to go back afterwards and mark it unwatched for future watching.

A small feature but a timesaver...
