  TV Guide Bug???
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2011-02-15, 03:34 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I find that I can schedule a recording and that slot turns red. But at some point later, if I go back through the TV guide, that particular show is not red. The top by the time is red to denote that something is scheduled to record, but if I go through the list, it doesn't show which is being recorded.

  XMLTV EPG Errors.
Posted by: RattyDAVE - 2011-02-15, 02:17 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I am getting the error :-

Invalid xmltv file:
Sytem.XmlException: Reference to undeclared entity 'Amp' Line xxx, position xxx

I looked in the xmltv and extacted the following.

<programme start="20110303010000 +0000" stop="20110303020000 +0000" channel="331732">
<title>Pacific Palisades</title>
<sub-title>Past &Amp; Present Danger</sub-title>
<desc>American soap centring on a group of rich young professionals in a wealthy Californian neighbourhood. When Cory refuses to put Frank&apos;s wife under the knife, the loan shark threatens Beth.</desc>
<category>Drama</category>
</programme>

To fix this I do a search and replace on " &Amp; " and replace with " " (without quotes)

This is not ideal as it is not an automated process.

It looks to me the &Amp; is ok in the other fields just not in <sub-title>.

Can you help please!

Well, I'm switched over to NPVR
Posted by: cathrynm - 2011-02-15, 09:52 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I have a few quirks, but I think it's all worth it just for the ability to resume playing in the video library. Really the video library just seems better and faster overall. The other thing I noticed right away was the channel mapping process did seem to make a little more sense. It grouped the different audio channels into one channel, it seems like -- though I'm not sure how exactly I switch to the alternate audio. At least it went faster compared to GBPVR, where setting up here in Northern California, which has a decent number of channels, can take quite a while. I tried briefly to install the Universe plugin, but I realized that this might suck me into a vortex of 'endless configuration' -- so I deleted.

Anyway, just want to report that it seems to be generally working here, at least I have a guide, and I have actually recorded digital TV off the air, and I've been watching my anime collection in the video library.

  Some newuser problems
Posted by: dacool - 2011-02-14, 09:33 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hi,

First I wanna say this NPVR look's good and simple use (gf friendly), and channel switching is very fast.

But theres some problems.

In finland we use two languages. Finnish and swedish, so can't find anywhere where I can set language for epg. So it's uses swedish epg data default.

in Windows 7.. I can watch tv in windowed mode, but when I press max button (left from closebutton in right up corner) it shows me npvr mainmenu.. and the tv picture left somewhere behind.. and can't get it back to front, even pressing alt-tab.

Is there support for teletext subtitles? Even when I select those from right clicking, Subtitle stream -> and select finnish/swe/nor/dan(teletext) it don't work.. only romanian (dvb) text works.

My laptop in client mode don't run tv well.. but i quess that because it's using wlan.

We have one channel what's name is "The Voice/Tv Viisi", and can't put channel logo for it. Some of pvr servers read those like creating a folder like The Voice, and put in there a logo named Tv Viisi.png, or naming like "The Voice_Tv Viisi.png"

Thanks in advance, is someone found some answer for my problems.. :o

How does NPVR determine recording length during playback?
Posted by: BrettB - 2011-02-14, 03:50 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

For the last week or so, I've noticed that several of my recordings are showing incorrect lengths (on the timeline OSD) when playing back. This situation affects the comskipping as well, because NPVR doesn't seem to skip commercials outside of it's "expected" timeline.

The incorrect lengths vary both short and long. For instance, one show (NCIS: Los Angeles) that is 1 hour displays as being 45 minutes on the OSD. (The recording itself seems to be OK, because it plays back just fine, execept that commercial skipping stops after 45 minutes.) In another instance, the show (Mike & Molly) displays as being 37 minutes on the OSD, but the recording is really only 30 minutes (plus padding), as expected.

Comskip seems to be detecting commercials and getting the skip points correct. And NPVR seems to be using them to get good skipping--as long as it is within NPVR's "expected" timeline. So the actual recording .ts files seem to be OK.

I'm attaching the comskip .edl & .log files and the NPVR timing.info files for these 2 examples in case they help any.

Is it documented anywhere the MCE buttons and what function they related to in NPVR?

I checked the wiki, but couldn't find anything

problem with graph stopping killed wrong recording
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2011-02-14, 01:45 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Last night at 8pm NPVR started recording the Grammys and also Dateline NBC. At 9pm when it went to stop Dateline NBC, it got the infamous "Async stop taking way too long" error and then died. In the process it also killed the Grammys recording at 9pm, even though that recording was to have continued until 11:30pm. After this both recordings continued to show as "Recording" until I restarted the recording service at around 10:30pm.

Both files were perfectly watchable.

I know the root cause of this error remains a mystery, but can you make sure it doesn't go tearing down the wrong graph (or all graphs?) when it's trying to recover from this?

Red / Rewind Remote Key Conflict
Posted by: mvallevand - 2011-02-14, 12:56 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (19)

Sub, I ran into a a problem on the Hauppauge remote yesterday when I noticed an NPVR change has caused a conflict of the meaning of Ctrl-R NPVR wants Ctrl-R to Rewind (ShortSkip) instead of Ctrl-D in GB-PVR where Ctrl-R has been assigned to Red.

To fix this would you be able assign a new permanent key for the Red key? All my plugins use Red for something and to lose any key on the remote hurts the 10' experience better. Some MCE remotes have a Red key too.

Thanks,

Martin
