What is the deal with npvr? Is it going to be a commercial app? It has the smell of one a bit. Once it developed more fully I mean. I would wait to see where it goes, but I was wondering what is going on behind the scenes? Seems like more people are involved from over the world. Is there some sort of commercial organization involved somewhere for gbpvr or npvr in some capacity? I am reminded of the takeover of Meedio into "Yahoo! Go4TV" which would just completely kill it for me if something similar happened to npvr. Apart I'm just really curious. We need some sort of press release from sub. Motivations, direction, etc.

I have recently updated Ultra to 2.1 and I have decided to phase out 2.0 by disabling its online look up. I will be doing this within the month. I wanted to give notice so that we all have enough time to update before the older version is disabled.

1. Visit http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/UltraXMLTV and download the latest zip file
2. Copy and overwrite all the files from the zip file into your C:\EPG\UltraXMLTV folder or wherever you have Ultra installed
3. Run Ultra, and then click the manual tab, and then click the "Update UltraXMLTV" button
4. That is it. When next you run Ultra, either manually or automatically in your EPG Update, Ultra will work as normal

The reason I am forcing an update is simply internet bandwidth. Over the last couple of years, the server has received several Gigabytes of data. Most of this data was redundant. The regular downloading of stale files, and daily uploading of the same data over and over is really something I wanted to avoid... and that simple redundant action also slowed Ultra down...
I've improved these mechanisms, and made the program far more stable.

There have been many people who have supported this project over the last couple of years. Some have donated their time in testing and others have donated money.
I suspect this may be a 1.5.33 bug as I'm sure they worked before, but I have also had to reinstall the GB-PVR server since I last tried so it maybe something my end....
I can't get pictures or even the source to open from the NMT using a network path it keeps coming up with a "something (path/drive) not found error" when I try to access the GB-PVR server pictures from the NextPVR server, it works fine locally when doing the same thing directly on the NextPVR server PC.
So after a lot of work, GBPVR 1.4.7 is working perfectly for me... for many months at a time now. I navigated the painful setup of clear-QAM and now it's second nature. I love the plugins, particulary MovieWiz. WAF = 100%
My question is this...should I "upgrade" to nPVR? My understanding is that it's been simplified for new users, and setup is easier. I don't care about this. I can setup GBPVR in my sleep.... .
I have been able to transfer my recoded shows, and recurring shows, but I cant figure out how to transfer my already pending shows from gbpvr to npvr. Am I missing something easy?
Assuming I should start with npvr instead of gv-pvr. Have scanned forum post titles and wiki, but don't see rudimentary info for the neophyte. Things like minimum cpu, memory, supported tuners, etc. Happy to post what I have, but if I'm just missing this info, it'd be better to have someone direct me to the "proper" spot.
I expect that I'm going to have a huge learning curve to move from (manually scheduled) mpg2 captures using ATI MMC (ATI AIW). Actually doing (manually scheduled) h264 captures since Jan with Arcsoft TotalMedia (HD-PVR). Get Schedule Direct xml --> Access 97 --> Excel 97 to select movies based on what's new & what I already have. Quite satisfied with that setup. Now want to be able to capture/time-shift mostly network stuff in HD, so looking at npvr. Have ATI 650, ATI 550, and KWorld ub-435q tuners currently available. Several older computers, but what's minimum cpu/memory/graphics card etc for HD?
Would it be possible to change the render order of the elements in the Guide.xml. I would like to put a background under the TV guide itself. A possible solution would be to render the SelectedShowDetails element before the Guide and Channel elements.
I've just upgraded to NPVR with a PCHA100 as a client and am experiencing a problem with liveTV suddenly stopping and the guide reappearing. It looks like the recording service is starting a new buffer file and the NMT isn't able to 'jump' to the new file (this is a guess). Simply pressing play and the program resumes (no need to restart the service)

I have started using an unraid server to store the majority of my files. The filesystem is reiser not NTFS so alternate file streams are stripped as files are copied from NTFS
The new functionality allowing reading of the <show>.xml allows the preservation of the alternate metadata. So my utility for moving files does this:
* extract alternate stream metadata to <show>.xml
* copy <show>.* to the unraid directory (moves the show, cut files etc.)
* update the NPVR database with the new location
This works well but the new timing data stream will be lost. So my wishlist suggestion is the ability for NPVR to read an external file for the timings perhaps something like <show>.tim or <show>.tmg. Then a utility can extract that data stream as well and NPVR can go on its merry way when playing files moved to a non-ntfs filesystem. Assuming there are others who do something similar this would be a useful and easy to implement feature.
