one of these I've never had to do before, the answer to other one has always bugged me, did try searching 1st! Running on XP.
My system was getting a bit clogged up with all sorts of stuff so after backing up config, etc used an Acronis image of perfect working system from a few months back to give lovely clean install I had done at that time with GBPVR 1.4.7.
1) Try to put old gbpvr.db3 into GBPVR folder but of course cannot replace as it is in use by another process. Is easiest solution to boot into safe mode and replace this way?
2) I have manually edited scan cache files for my DVB-S that I like to use and are easy to keep updated. However even with clean database I put my 'clean' scan cache files in BDA folder open device to map to channels and apart from my 'clean' channels there is a whole list of other channels that the device has previously mapped to. Where are these coming from? How is GBPVR remembering them? I'm sure some time ago I looked in the database and there is no mention of previous entries in any tables. I really would like to get rid of these it would make a re-install about 500% faster
I recently re-installed both my desktop PC and GB-PVR HTPC with Windows 7 Pro.
I can't get .mp4 files to play from within GB-PVR, but they play fine in windows media player.
The files were created in Nero Digital format using Nero Recode.
The only codec I've installed beyond what comes with Windows 7 is AC3Filter needed for the audio on US broadcast HD channels. I have NOT installed Nero on either computer, Windows seems to know how to play these files without anything extra installed.
I'm trying to avoid any willy-nilly installation of decoders/filters/etc.
The logs appear to show that GB-PVR and/or Windows fails to build a complete graph when playing .mp4 files. .mpg files play back fine.
I thought the rule was that for these sorts of files GB-PVR just asks Windows to play the file, so if WMP can do it then GB-PVR should do it too?
Newer PCH installation here and I can't get GBPVR over the PCH back to the main menu using the "home" key. When the "home" key does work, it bounces back to the video library screen. Any ideas?
Satellite free to air consists of a few(worth watching) channels here and there pretty much spread out across several orbital positions. This is why the use of motors is so practical.
wow what a week. been racking my brain on this one, 2 installs of xp and same thing... nothing has changed since before but I get high cpu usuage from the system idle in task manager making video and audio messed up. once the usage drops doing whatever it is it's doing then hdtv is fine again. the recordings seem fine as once the cpu levels drop the video plays fine even from when it was messed up.
posts around the net suggest uninstall the index service... it was never installed lol so that can't be it.
does the 8600gt support hardware h.264?
i've defragged today and have installed xp the same way everytime for as long as I can remember and never had this problem until now.
it all started after I tried the new ffdshow from the posts claimed it was killer for h264 hdtv decoding so I wanted to try it and it didn't like my card as it stuttered so I went back to the tme decoder which worked fine in in 1080i.
after going back I noticed I was having studders and audio dropouts so after a day of uninstalling installing every codec pack etc.. I installed xp fresh and tried again and after a movie or so the stuttering came back so I uninstalled gbpvr thinking it was now my config or database complicating it and it seemed fixed for a movie or two and was back.
I don't know if tme updated their codec on me but I am stumped
anyone experience this idle cpu max load? people on the net say it's cause the computer is doing nothing and people say that's bs cause the computer is maxed and they can't use it lmao...

Questions
Do I want dxva checked in a codec and if so do I want v1 or v2 or both? Is DXVA supported in XP?
I have GBPVR set to record certain shows (Family Guy, Futurama and King of the Hill) at certain time periods. There are no conflicts according to the program and the recording service is always running. I have the program set to record the season and all episodes on the certain channels.
It seems to be entirely random as well. Sometimes it will record one of the episodes, but not the other.
Any idea how to fix this?
I'm using an ATI 650 PCI tuner (the Analog/NTSC part only) and am using GBPVR 1.4.7.
I've done this before but can't for the life of me remember which file I edited. Am referring to the pop up that appears when you press the green button while watching Live TV and brings up lower list of 5 channles and upper pop up of currently watched show guide. Could someone let me know which this is!!!
Hi, everything seems to go OK BUT (isnt there always) I get no signal on a set of channels which I believe are on 633Mhz. These include QVC, Five USA, GOLD, ITV3, Virgin1. Live TV says no signal detected.
All channels can be received on exactly the same antenna (external) AND same wire and same plug (TV sat on computer workstation. I am line of sight from transmitter and its only 5 miles away.
Can anyone suggest what may be the problem. Is it the TV tuner card?? This is exactly the same under Windows Media Center.
Any thoughts on what to try etc. Be aware I am not a techie nowadays just an end user!!
Is anyone using an Atom 330 processor based system as a GbPvr server?
Let me back up for a moment. In the past I had been using an HP Proliant ML150 as my main server, which included GbPvr recording and hosting two PCH's as clients. It definitely was up to the task, but used around 250 to 300watts at idle. So I started searching for a greener solution. First, for storage, I got a NAS from Qnap (Ts-410) which uses only about 20 watts with three 1.5 TB disks in it. Then for the heck of it, I temporarily tried to use my Dell Vostro A90 (Atom 1.6, identical to the Dell Mini 9) to act as a GbPvr server. To my surprise, it works perfectly for recording shows. However, it is not up to the task of streaming video to the NMT. So now I am thinking about building a system based on the Zotac IONITX motherboard (which has a dual core Atom processoor) so I can get my Vostro back. I'd be very interested to know if anyone else has tried this and if they had any success.
I was wondering if there's a way to directly control a MediaMVP using the GBPVR PC interface so that I could serve music to the MediaMVP without need for a TV or display. Hauppage has a batch file for doing this kind of thing using their software but I'd like to be able to use GBPVR. Is this possible?
