  Mapping digital channels
Posted by: dspdrew - 2010-01-25, 11:49 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I have a few questions about this.

1. After scanning all my channels I dont have any names or anything, just frequencies, and it seems the only way to map these channels is by looking at each one that I am able to see, and then searching my tv for the same channel (obviously networks that use watermarks make this a little easier). Am I missing something or am I doing this correctly.

2. I noticed on the majority of my channels it says they are encrypted, yet I can see them just fine. Why is that?

3. Some of the channels (which are definately clearQAM) have the audio working, but no picture is showing up. This is happening specifically with Fox local broadcast channel here in Orange County, CA. Is there something wrong?

  Support of another kind

I just posted a question to the support forum, and it reminded me that I haven't contributed financially in some time. If you're like me, send a little cash Sub's way.

  no sound on some channels....
Posted by: mrspaces - 2010-01-25, 09:12 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi all,

Have had to stop using timeshift mode sadly, now using live preview mode but am finding that half my UK channels dont have sound.

For example,BBC 1,BBC2,ITV1 all have sound - but channel 4 does not. Other channels have not sound either.

Have tried different audio settings including the MPA but nothing gets the sound back from those certain channels.

Strange thing is though, if I pause then unpause the sound appears on the channel.

Confusing and I would appreciate any help.
cheers.

PCI Graphics Cards - Can They Handle HD Playback?
Posted by: hasso - 2010-01-25, 08:53 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

Just wondering if anyone has had an experience with either the HIS HD 4350 or the Powercolor HD2400PRO-256M video cards for the playback of 720p or 1080i/p?. I've got the HIS HD4350 running on a Intel D945GCLF2 motherboard and playback with hardware acceleration on Windows XP is running great, but I still notice some slight tearing/jerkiness during panning shots (I've got vertical sync enabled). I thought that maybe PCI just can't handle high def playback bandwidth requirements.

How how other people faired with PCI high def playback?

Low signal warning when using live TV
Posted by: wodger - 2010-01-25, 08:18 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi,
I'm using version 1.3.11 (I think that's the number... it's the first version to intoduce multi-channel record anyway). Whenever I try live TV I get a message saying it can't do it because of low signal, with a couple of bars showing 0 signal strength and quality. Sometimes it starts live TV, but a couple of minutes later it stops with the same message. Regular recordings are always perfect.

I can post the logs later. Is this a known issue .. does 1.4.7 or some patch happen to address it?

Cheers
Julian.

  Channel scan coming up empty
Posted by: wpialum - 2010-01-25, 07:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I need some help with my channel scans. Comcast seems to have moved some channels here north of Boston, so I'm trying to rescan, but I can't get anything.

WinTV 7 was able to find channels this morning. I've tried changing the video renderer away from the MS one, but to no avail. Attached are the config logs after the most recent scan.

I have a HVR-1600 and a HVR-1250, both doing QAM scans on Win 7 64-bit.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Marc

  pause overlay removal?
Posted by: Andrewh - 2010-01-25, 03:00 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I did some searching, but didn't know what it was called, and searching on pause didn't bring it up.

But the big info screen when you pause a recording. Is it possible to either time it out or remove it?
I cannot seem to find a setting for it.

  Problem with QAM Tuning
Posted by: BrettB - 2010-01-25, 04:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I recently got basic cable with clear QAM delivery of the local broadcast stations. I've got it mostly working, but I'm having one problem consistently.

I'm using TS Mux with Multi-record enabled. The ABC station (KSTP) and the FOX station (KMSP) are on the same frequency, so should be able to be recorded on one tuner at the same time. I've got an AverMedia Duet tuner. It seems that if I record from these 2 channel and GBPVR uses Duet tuner #0, they record OK. However, if it uses Duest tuner #1, then I get the programming from KMSP saved in both files.

As far as I can tell, I've got both tuners configured with the same EPG channels and mappings. I've attached the channel config file from BDA Channel Migration Tool for tuner #1. And I've attached logs from the recording service for a test I just did. I first recorded KSTP (Desperate Housewives) and KMSP (NFL Postgame) on tuner #0. Those worked OK. Then I cancelled them, started recording CBS and NBC (to tie up tuner #0) and restarted recording KSTP and KMSP (now on tuner #1). However, both recording have content from KMSP. (And, the KSTP recording was started first!)

I can't figure it out! Anyone have suggestions?

Power on PVR Without Power Toggle Button?
Posted by: ottoguy - 2010-01-25, 04:02 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Is it possible to have the PVR wake up to any remote control input not just the power toggle command?

It would be much easier if I could just push the up arrow or something and have it wake up, similar to how it reacts to a keyboard.

Using a Microsoft USB IR receiver/blaster. Or is there a separate Power On or Power Off command?
