UbuRadio v1.3 - now PVRX2 compatible (and Find Stations works again)
Posted by: ubu - 2007-07-22, 08:53 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - No Replies

I've just uploaded UbuRadio v1.3 to the wiki.

This version will work with GB-PVR v1.0.08 (both with pvrx2.exe and with gbpvr.exe). It's PVRX2-compliant, which means that it doesn't use the new features of the UI, but it works fine. The next release will be a full-blown PVRX2 plugin with all the new eye candy.

The Find Stations feature has been broken in v1.2 for some time due to format changes in the underlying web site, so I took the opportunity to fix it. The v1.3 version now has "region" sections for radio stations in Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and the United States. As before, don't blame me if you find a station that's not working. I don't control the content so don't shoot the messenger. Smile

There's a minor bug in v1.0.08 that makes using the mouse with UbuRadio from PVRX2 a bit unreliable. I understand this is likely to be fixed in the next maintenance release of GB-PVR. In the meantime, you should use the remote control or keyboard interface instead.

For NetRadio fans who are missing their Shoutcast streams in the current PVRX2 version, UbuRadio can play pretty much any audio stream, including Shoutcast mp3. You can add your favourite URLs to the UbuRadioFavourites.xml config file so you can still listen to them while you wait for the return of NetRadio.

  Very very minor skin inconsistency
Posted by: Carlito - 2007-07-22, 07:55 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

I just happened to notice that on the Recordings screen when viewing in Details View the programme images gets stretched on the main 'Ready' screen.
When entering a programme folder the image seems to display correctly though.

Again, very very minor but thought I'd mention it.

Thanks again.

  ParaLED and version 1.0.8
Posted by: mila06 - 2007-07-22, 06:40 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

What has to be done to get paraLED working with PVRX2.exe(Light up a LED when the process is running)?
Maybe the program could se if either gbpvr.exe or PVRX2.exe is running(or maybe one could put the processname in an xml-file)

  Video Library Directories question (dumb)
Posted by: zebra14 - 2007-07-22, 04:26 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Pardon this stupid question, but I think I may have missed GB-PVR class 101. Can GB-PVR use multiple hard drives/drive letters to store video?

When I first played with GB-PVR a year or two ago, it appeared that one could only save video on one hard drive in one directory.

Looking at the configuration screen, can one add more than one directory, more than one drive letter? Let's say I have 3 500GB hard drives... can use all that space without resorting to dynamic disks so it's all one big drive? Using the three 500GB hard drive example above, can I save 500GB on say, the D:, E: & F: drives in different folders?

Again, please excuse me if this is a "duhhhhhh" type of question. I could not find the answer digging around the wiki or forums...

  How do you remove gbpvr?
Posted by: lchiu7 - 2007-07-22, 03:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Doing some upgrades on gbpvr and ran into the following problem.

1. Decided I would try out 1.08. It installed okay but for some reason the Harmony 880 I was using was very slow to respond (turned out not to be a gbpvr problem but because I had both Girder and the Hauppauge remote sensor active!)

2. Before I worked that out tried to back out 1.08 by installing an earlier version. Not good - got an error in the config application during installation.

3. After some much mucking about, including repairing and removing gbpvr and removing its registry entries (only those in HKLM and HKCU Software) and then installing 1.08 again, got it all working

But it made me think - is there a way to remove gbpvr and all traces (including all registry entries) to get a clean installation?

Thanks

  How do you pronounce Hauppauge?
Posted by: ACTCMS - 2007-07-22, 01:36 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

I assume that everyone else already knows this, but just having found it (don't ask), I'll sleep easier tonight... Smile

Quote:[B]How do you pronounce Hauppauge?
Hauppauge is a town in NY on Long Island. Hauppauge is pronounced HOP-HOG. The area around the headwaters of the Nissequogue (NISS-I-QUOG) River was dubbed Hauppauge by Native Americans; it means "overflowed land'' in the Algonquian language. Hauppauge boasts a large industrial park which is home to many well known companies.

Isn't it amazing what you learn when you get the gbpvr bug... Big Grin

What AGP Video Card Do You Use For HDTV?
Posted by: zed - 2007-07-22, 01:15 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (87)

OK, I know video cards are a well hashed over topic but I'd like to upgrade from my 6200 to something that'll handle HDTV better and I need some advice. It has to be AGP and around $100 US. I'm considering a GeForce 7600 card like this one:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...=P450-7600

but would consider equivalent ATI cards. The power supply requirements (12v @ 18A) are a bit daunting, too...I'd have to upgrade my power supply as well, I guess.

(Do those cards REALLY take that much power? It seems like an AWFUL lot. I mean, I feed my ham rig with a 20A @ 13.8v supply.)

Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing what AGP cards you guys are using to feed your HDTV's. Actual experience would be preferred.

I'm running a 3.0 GHz P4/HT (Then again, maybe it's time to upgrade computers to something with PCI-E... Smile ).

TIA...

v1.08 FF rather than short skip
Posted by: PaulH - 2007-07-22, 12:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I upgraded from 99.12 to 1.08 today. I can't seem to get the FF working (rather than short skip). I seem to have it set right, but it won't FF on either my PC or on the MVP.

Did I miss something?

(logs and XML configs attached)

  Reccurring and Pending
Posted by: csc12345678 - 2007-07-21, 11:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

When I create a Recurring recording and when I check Pending, should the recording show up as Recurring or Record Once ?
For me, it shows up as Record Once.
I find that when I then update the Recurring recording (eg. Name Prefix), the Pending does not show that it's changed and the final recording still shows the old name.
I haven't tried changing the date, time cause I don't want to miss any recordings.
I wonder should this be the correct behaviour ?
Thanks !

  Standby / Wake / Colour Saturation (v99.12)
Posted by: kwong26 - 2007-07-21, 11:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Not sure where to begin. Well I'm new here to using GB-PVR after having switched from MediaPortal, and very glad that I did. However, I'm noticing a few things that are not quite working so well and not sure whether it's a bug or some other sort of problem.

I'm currently running v99.12 with the Resume-Fix patch and the Recording-Service patch, so not sure if other people who've used this version are running into the same problems. I'm controlling my STB through the S-VIDEO connection of my HVR-1600. My video-out is going through to my TV through an S-VIDEO connection. I haven't been able to find any posts that talk to the same thing.

1) Standby / Wake Issue: When I run GB in full screen mode and the system goes into standby, upon resume the video / screen is completely messed up displaying a black screen that has the display showing black and white floating strips (not sure if that's a good description). But, when I don't run GB in full screen mode, the system returns from standby without any problems. Image displays on my TV without any issues. If GB-PVR is not running, it is also fine when returning out of standby. My first guess is that it has something to do with the full screen mode of GB.

2) Live TV / Recording Colour Saturation: I notice that when I watch Live TV or any recordings that the colour seems to be off. The reds are over-exposed so everyone looks like they're sun-burned (kinda funny), but I can't seem to adjust the picture colour in any way on GB. When I watch the same show through WinTV, it's normal.

3) GB Does not Wake for Recordings: I did searches and found a ton of info, but I still can't seem to get anything to work. Basically, I tried to schedule recordings for later so that when my PC is in standby, it will wake to record. For whatever reason, GB does not send any wake command to wake the PC. When I schedule a task for a later time, the PC wakes no problem.

TIA for the help and great program. Hopefully someone has some brilliant insight on how I can get things to work properly.
