Syntax of Commandline Options in dongle.bin.config
Posted by: jksmurf - 2007-05-15, 03:50 PM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (27)

OK, now that my dongle.bin.config works. .. :-)

http://mvpmc.wikispaces.com/commandline has a list of Syntax of Commandline Options.

1. What is the Syntax of these commands?
e.g. I have

Code:
mvpmc --startup emulate --emulate 192.168.1.10 &
If I want to force:
(a) pal AND (b)svideo AND © and 4:3 AND (d)SPDIF (passthru) can I do BOTH Svideo AND passthru? The web site above seems to suggest "Enumerated arguments, where you must supply one of the listed choices, are shown separated by a vertical bar (composite | svideo | stereo | passthru). "

i.e. will
Code:
mvpmc options -m pal -a 4:3 -o svideo -o passthru
work

2. Do I add these on one or seperate lines? Is there an ORDER of loading?

Code:
mvpmc options -m pal -a 4:3 -o svideo -o passthru --startup emulate --emulate 192.168.1.10 &

OR

Code:
mvpmc --startup emulate --emulate 192.168.1.10 & mvpmc options -m pal -a 4:3 -o svideo -o passthru

3. How do I add a Comment? "rem" or ";" or "!" or sth else?

Cheers

k.

Transcoding - how much memory do I need?
Posted by: blizard - 2007-05-15, 03:33 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (16)

Hi!

How much does memory matter for transcoding? Would 1 GB be enough for a second system to transcoding or would I need to get 2 GB?

I have run without Page file enabled (or at least turned it off in system properties) and right now I am up in around 800 MB on my main system. When I run the old system I had the same amount of memory, but probably less background like .NET for catalyst driver and other stuff running.

Would it still be enough to use 1GB or is 2Gb needed for a machine that is supposed to do only transcoding and other stuff that isn't needed on my main system?

Can I skip a video card on a motherboard that normally would need discrete video, if want to control it all by a gigabite network (computer to computer)?

I am in the process to evaluate if want to use spare part from my old system which was an Athlon64 3400+@2400Mhz single core skt 754 or to start all over with an AM2 and I would appreciate some help and advice on this matter.

I have two main road which I will discuss later, but for now I would like to know how much memory do I need?

___
Windows XP x64 edition is what I use and want to use for the second system.

XRecord/CDKScheduler not checking whether channels are enabled
Posted by: skreien - 2007-05-15, 01:51 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

Just wanted to post about a strange happening with XRecord and CDKScheduler and see if anyone is aware of it.

I have three capture cards, two analog and one digital (ATSC only). I have only the digital channels enabled on the digital tuner, and in the recordings list in XRecord I have the analog channels specified for all my recurring recordings. I don't often have more than two programs to record at once since I don't have cable or satellite, but recently there have been a few instances where I have had three programs scheduled at once, all three on analog channels. The problem is that XRecord is scheduling one of those analog channels to be recorded on the ATSC digital tuner, which of course it can't. Doesn't seem like XRecord is checking to see if the channels are enabled on a particular tuner before it's scheduling that tuner for recordings.

  DVD Drive Select Option
Posted by: Amused - 2007-05-15, 12:07 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (6)

I've have two DVD drives in my machine and I've found of late I'm tending toward using both. For example I'll leave a DVD of a TV show in Drive E as I work my way through it and then use F drive for watching a film or something. It would be nice to be able to choose which DVD drive to play from WITHIN the GBPVR GUI rather than having to change it in config.

Currently, I don't use GBPVR to watch DVD's, but I can't find a program that manges two drives nicely so this could be an unexplored niche. . PowerDVD is alright but It could be better and I'm used to using my Remote Control with GBPVR.

Anyway, that's my wish: a DVD Drive Select option within GBPVR.

  Problem with web admin
Posted by: Freakitchen - 2007-05-15, 11:04 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi guys,

Up until this weekend I've had no problem logging into the web admin on my parent's GBPVR box. Now it's no go - the page cannot be displayed; tried accessing it from inside and outside the local network.

I made a couple of alterations in the config of that machine this weekend, from what I can remember doing, I changed the video renderer from Intervideo to Cyberlink to test a couple of problems. Would this have effected the web admin side of things? Nothing has changed with the network - the port is still forwarded correctly and the admin service is still enabled in config. The address I'm using for the service is as follows:

http://[IP ADDRESS]:[PORT]/gbpvr/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fgbpvr%2fdefault.aspx

Any ideas for troubleshooting much appreciated.

Cheers,

FK

  ZProcess: Hunter not starting up.
Posted by: goobie - 2007-05-15, 09:58 AM - Forum: ZTools and UltraXMLTV - Replies (19)

Hello,

I got my MVP three weeks ago and are in the process of setting it up, but I'm having this annoying problem which I think is due to ZProcess. I searched the forum but was unable to get any help. I was therefore hoping that some clever person here could have a look at the logs and perhaps indicate a troubleshooting direction to follow. If you find that the problem is with GBPVR then please indicate so and I will post there.

In short; movie AVI's only play for ~12-16 seconds then stop. From the logs I can see that transcoding stopped after 7 seconds. The strangest thing is that if I fiddle around with all the setting (GBPVR and ZProcess) I SOMETIMES manages (about 1 out of 10 times) to get it going and play the full movie, so I know there is nothing wrong with the file. However, it is difficult to see a pattern in what I must fiddle with to make it work. Most of the time it is however impossible and frustrating to watch a movie.

When I manages to get the movie going all is fine, the HUNTER app as well as the DOS transcoding window starts up and work as they should. The rest of the time when I only get 12 seconds of movie neither of them starts up at all, so I'm not sure whether Hunter is the problem or not.

I'm using GBPVR (99.12) with ZProcess (latest version) to get the aspect ratios right for my 4:3 TV, no plugins, standard dongle. The server is an AMD 3000 (2.2 Ghz, 1Gb RAM) WITHOUT a tuner. Network consist of a DLINK router and 3 switches before reaching the MVP (1000 rev H3). I'm running Windows XP (SP2) with no firewall. K-lite codecs installed.

Thank you in advance.

  cant delete pending recordings
Posted by: cosmicr - 2007-05-15, 06:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

hi. I have 4 recordings under the 'pending' section which I cant get rid of.

the dates on them are messed up in that they point to the year 2000 for some reason and the titles dont even match the channels. If I go to cancel or update nothing seems to happen and they stay there.

I'm assuming this means that the database is corrupt however I'm not sure what I have to do to repair it. I thought about exporting the recordings (from the plugin tab in config) then deleting the database and then re-importing them back in, however I cant do this because I would lose the channel tuning data. I cant just re-tune because I'm not in that locale (I'm fixing it for someone interstate).

any suggestions?

Captions slowly go out of sync over time
Posted by: pastro - 2007-05-15, 05:41 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I use mpg2srt to rip the captions and the srt viewer to show them. It works fine, except on a 1 hour show the captions start to show up too early the further into the show you go. If I use the line21 decoder via graphedit they are timed correctly. Any ideas how to prove whether this is the SRT viewer or the captions themselves that are not correct?

Edit: I made a test file at 1 hour and 1:30 and the captions looked like they came up exactly right. Seems like it must be an mpg2srt issue. Anyone else see this?

Mixing DVB EPG and xml EPG sources
Posted by: tieke - 2007-05-15, 05:37 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I was wondering if there was a simple way of using more than one epg data source - basically I am in NZ, so use dvb-s to receive the freeview channels, and would like to try using the dvb epg data to cover those channels (for both my PVR150 and dvb-s capture sources) rather than the xmltv data I use currently.

ie. at the moment I use xmltv to get epg data for all channels, and point both the dvb and analogue capture sources to the resultant epg xml file. Is there any simple way to use dvb-sourced epg data for a couple of those channels instead? (I remember I got confused when I last tried to use the dvb-epg source in addition to my xml one, and thought I'd check the recommended procedure first this time rather than just blundering in Smile )
cheers,

tieke
