First I want to thank the developers of GBPVR for a great product. I am a recent re-convert to GBPVR, I tried it about a month ago and had various problems that had me give Media Portal a try. Although I prefer Media Portal's UI over GBPVR the video quality issues and other headaches had me switch back to GBPVR. I have to say that the live tv quality on GBPVR is miles better than what I had on Media Portal(I have a PVR-150 and HVR-1600). And the HDTV portion of Media Portal is so horrendously buggy(change the HD channels change, watch it crash hard).
Anyway, a few questions, comments:
1) Is there a skin or a way to display the time you are at in the current program when the info for the current show comes up at the bottom of the screen? Media Portal, Beyond TV all have the bar graph that shows you the length of the current program and then the bar is filled in to the position you are at in the current program along with the program info(whenever you change channels). Note I am talking about live tv, not recorded. I know that you can bring up the guide in GBPVR and the small triangle shows your position in the current program but I would like to have the bar graph always come up showing my current position when I am changing channels.
2) Awhile back I asked if there was a setting to configure the amount of time the info on the current program stays visible. At the time sub said no but that was thinking about adding that feature. Any luck in that department?
Again, great product, the support and community is much better over here than at Media Portal. And much, much more stable product. Thanks again.
Perhaps there is already a way to do this... please advise if there is.
Sometimes I'll be watching a live show that I'm interested in and then I'll have to leave for a few hours from some reason. I want to tell GB-PVR to go ahead and record just until the end of the show so I can come back and finish it later.
I've tried telling GB-PVR to record the show using the scheduler, but since the show's already started it doesn't start up the recording.
I've been using GB-PVR on an old compuer for a year or so. I have my computer tucked in a closet behind my entertainment center and it's hooked up to my older Television (Non-HD). My (wife's) biggest complaint is that the image has horrible color and a little skewing. I've played with the NVidia TV-Out settings and have been able to make some small improvements but it's still bad. I'm hoping that a better graphics card will make a big difference.
Any recommendations? Anyone else using a regular television and a video card with S-Video out that is happy with the image quality? What card are you using??? Thanks.
I've just added a 2nd nova-t to the my HTPC (sig below) and having nothing but problems. Messages saying GBPVR/config.exe cannot start and a 16-bit subsystem related error on startup.
Can provide more info and logs but want to see if anyone has tried this before?
Is it a GB-PVR problem or a Hauppauge driver problem?
1. If a recording is scheduled, but the PC goes into standby or hibernate, will the PC wake up to perform the recording? If so does it wake up a few minutes early / are there settings for that?
2. I'm trying to set GBPVR up so that I have 1 server in my attic with the HDTV antenna attached, and then have a PC in 2 other rooms set up as clients, getting everything from the server.
I tested this out using a laptop connected by by ethernet cable (100Mb/s). I set the laptop up using the "Act as a client" option, and chose Streaming.
When I went to live analog TV, it said "switching to timeshift mode" and waited there for about 15-20 seconds. The live TV then worked. It also waited about 15-20 seconds when switching channels. I could see the video file being created on the server in my tv buffer/recording folder.
When I did this with HD channels, it said switching to timeshift mode, but the laptop never displayed any TV, but I could see the file created on the server getting larger and larger.
My question is, is there any setting to reduce the buffer, so that Live TV switches quicker on client machines? Or is it maybe just my hardware that's making it slow? Also, is there something else I need to do, to stream HD channels?
My server is: Athlon XP 3200+, 768MB, 2 x 200GB HDD (100GB free on recording drive), Hauppauge hvr-1600, Nvidia 6800GT AGP card, Nvidia Purevideo decoder.
Client is: Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, 2GHz celeron, 384MB, 20GB free HDD, Intel onboard video, Nvidia purevideo decoder. (This is just for testing)
In the last couple of releases, I've noticed that when i play music and have the visualization in fullscreen it kicks me out of fullscreen at the next song - I still get an inset though. Can someone confirm that it happens to them as well? The upgrade to a new version coincided with a new mobo without a fresh install so I'm not sure where the problem lies right now.
This Version 2.0 BBC Dynsource replaces Ubu’s original which appears to point to streams that are no longer updated.
This app scrapes BBC’s main video/audio page, gets as many streams as it can find, and places them in a ‘BBC - ungrouped’ section. It also scrapes the RSS feed URLs from this page, and then uses each of these RSS feeds to obtain the streams for each section. This approach leads to some duplication of streams, since the main page seems to contain the three latest items contained within the RSS feeds (that seem to have six or seven items)
Installation
If you are still using version 2.0 of Ubustream, delete the BBC dynsource using UbuStreamConfig (right click the BBC dynsource item).
Unzip and install this app and config file into plugins\UbuStream\DynSource.
If you are using UbuStream Version 2.1 Beta, you can ‘refresh sections’ in the UbuStream config application, instead of deleting the dynsource as per above.
Options
Options are set up in the BBCDynSource.exe.config file as follows and are self explanatory:
Broadband is not generally available outside the UK, but some streams may work..
BBC have an “International” version and a “UK” version.
BBC now seem to support Windows Media Player, which is the alternative to RealPlayer.
(nb: I have not been able to view the broadband streams since I am outside the UK)
TODO
Sort the section streams into ‘published date’ order
Warning
Occasionally, errors may occur while the BBC is updating their pages and they are unavailable. I think these errors are all caught so that application exits gracefully, however, streams will be missing from the plx file. If this is suspected, just wait a while autosynch again. The log file will log the errors.
I am currently using the MCE remote with the 4 coloured buttons. It seems that the buttons are not mapped properly, plus others like FF do not work at all, if you use the skip buttons instead, and push them too rapidly, the PC restarts. I think the windows driver must be OK, as the control works correctly using Mediaportal. I also have the hauppauge remote that came with the Nova T-500, sadly only around half the buttons are mapped on this. I am unable to find the file to edit in system32. I have intalled the hauppauge IR drivers, but it only seems to install the runfile and IR32.DLL. In any case make no difference to its operation. I am afraid the more I read, the more confused I get, not even sure if I need IR.EXE running at all?
Would appreciate any advice at all.
Also quite unrelated, when GB has a problem running say an invalid file, missing webcam etc. It seems to take a very long time before it decides it cannot take any action, and return control to user, sometimes it locks up completely. Maybe this is something that can be addressed in later releases.
I'm a newbie to gb-pvr and I was hoping you guys could help me out. I'm trying to get listings from zap2it. I keep getting a 401 error unauthorized message even though I typed in my username and password correctly. I try to search for some suggestions on this board, but I couldn't find anything. I'm not running a hardcore firewall just the windows firewall and a router. I am currently using version 0.99.12. any suggestions would do.
