I tried to uninstall the beta version and try out the released version since my system doesn't seem to work with the beta, but when I run the config utility it complains about a missing database file. Is there a way to regenerate the mdb file?
EDIT: Since I use sqlite for GB-PVR's database does that mean I have to use the beta or is that independent?
I am very new to this, so please write slow to give me a chance to understand your answers.
What I have: fresh WinXP installation, terratec 1200 DVB-C card, KabelDeutschland as my cable provider. The card works fine with the free to air providers under procdvb and the TerraTec Tool. Now that I read so much about gb-pvr I started to install this tool.
But I do not find any channels.
I read in this forum something about changing an ini file where users put in "..." for their providers. Now this is the point where I am stuck. I would need information, where to put and how to build this ini file. (I would not mind, if one of you would simply send me one )
Please could you help me?
I have a pvr 150 and I am having trouble installing gbpvr. Everything installs OK and the silver and black G tray icon loads. When I attempt to start GB-PVR it will initialize but not start. I shows to process running but nothing happens. In the capture source in the config I am unable to highlight the the Zap2it line to make changes, also their is nothing in the channels section. I was able to record with the Hauppauge program and I removed it to install 9.9.12 Any help would be appreciated. I am running a Athlon 64 X2 and XP SP 2
I finally got HVR-3000 to work in GBPVR. However the recordings are not useable. Sound is out of sync and video is skipping. I edited the graph to use MainConcept (MCE) MPEG Encoder instead of MainConcept (Hauppauge) MPEG Video Encoder and MainConcept (Hauppauge) MPEG Audio Encoder. That worked fine.
But how can I get this to work in GBPVR? Is there a way to edit direct.ini to get this working? I attach a copy of the working graph and hope someone please could take a look and hopefully find a solution.
Hi,
I am wondering if there is an HDTV Tuner that I can use on an older computer. All the system requirements that I have seen seem to be for newer faster CPU's. I have two computers I am interested in getting cards for. One is mine and the other is my brothers. One is an AMD Athalon XP 2500 with 512 Meg Ram. The other is an AMD Semperon 3400 with 512 Meg Ram. I think I could update the memory easy enough if that is an issue, but if its the CPU, it might be easier and cheaper to just get a new computer. Is it possible to use older computers to work with an HDTV tuner?
Does anyone have any suggestions for a card that might work?
I'm running v0.99.12, and I would say that for about 90% of my recordings, the tracking doesn't work correctly. For example, if I try to skip forward 1 minute through a recording, I might end up being randomly deposited 15 minutes ahead -- or sometimes, it will actually take me backward.
For most recordings that have problem, it seems that the total time for the recording is way off, also. For example, when I hit pause and it displays the total time, it might say the total video time is 14:10, when it's actually an hour-long recording.
This problem essentially renders me unable to skip forward or backward through my recordings; instead, I end up having to sit through the commercials. (Even if a video says it has only 14 minutes, I can still watch the entire hour if I just let it play through without trying to skip past commercials.)
Has anyone else seen this problem? Does anyone have any tips? I'm running a Intel Celeron 266 GHz with 1.5 GB of RAM. I've tried changing my video decoder settings. I have 2 capture cards: a Hauppauge PVR-150 and a PVR-350.
Ok I've run out and spent a bunch of money. Saw a nice 650W home theatre receiver/decoder for only $169CAD, wasnt shopping for it, but at that kind of price what the hell. I have the Epson Powerlite S1+ projector for a 12 foot diagonal screen and the old DVD/Surround combo was literally cooking (had to go in there and splice in a new Pentium II fan because the old one melted. peice of junk) and was no match for the screen size.
That led me to another purchase - Creative Audigy Sound Blaster 4. The thing has a digital SPDIF or S/PDIF out which means I can plug it straight through to the receiver and have it decode. The receiver can decode anything, Sony ATRAC to MPEG-2 and of course, the beloved Dolby Digital and DTS 96.
There was a bit of a learning curve to get around the misleading wives' tales (no disrespect to wives) about how the coax does 5.1 or 7.1 no problem. Ok fine I use Dolby Pro Logic II to rerender any non compressed source (Dolby Digital or DTS) and the receiver automatically flops back to the digital multichannel mode when the signal is detected.
Got it all working, tried out the stuff, works. Only one teeny little problem.
In Cyberlink's player, i've set it for SPDIF pass through (dont decode, let the receiver do that). Works like a hot damn. In Winamp, I play an AAC or DTS file and it passes through, works like a hot damn. Of course, soundblasters overly glitzy mouse driven player that comes with the card, works like a hot damn.
However in GBPVRs DVD player (which to my understanding is simply the Cyberlink), I cant set it to SPDIF. It only goes to PCM Linear mode. Kind of a bummer.
I have the media centre hooked up to the FM, the Cable, the DVD, the TV, the Projector, use the remote that came with the ATI Theatre 550 Pro loving GBPVR, I dumped the one that came with it, Cyberlink PowerCinema, that one just sucks (ahem.. PAY for the EPG? forget that).
Creative's player even uses the Cyberlink Audio Decoder to decode audio, and it offers the SPDIF option. Can I set this in GBPVR? I've looked through the config tool and even through the config.xml file, I cant find anything reasonable that would allow me to set such a thing.
Any idea how to set GBPVR's setting for the audio decoder to SPDIF?
I have been looking at other threads about playback of .ts files, but this behaviour seems unique!
I have installed the HDTV Pump decoder.
Playback via WMP is fine.
Playback of a .ts file the first time in GBPVR is fine.
Playback the second time causes problems! Basically the video plays for a few seconds and that does not advance - a still picture with the audio looping!
Looking at .grp files and the log files confirms that MPEG-2 Demultiplexer is connected to the ts file the first time, but the second time GB-PVR Parser is connected!
I presume I could disable the resume feature that is probablycausing this... but I really like this feature and dont want to lose it.
